I provided sound for 3 bands, 2 nights in a row last week. Your video made me feel like I was right back at work. Lol. I've been making sure my subs have their own dedicated power run, as even a single powered 18 sub can use around 15 amps (at 120v) at peak, by itself (I typically run 2 JBL PRX918XLF subs, and 2 SRX812p tops per side). Thanks for sharing! :)
Thanks a lot of the complete process videos.. i liked. Best. Every single momment, every “click” sound of socket, every “pop” sound of putting down the stuff are like sound of satisfiying. Because i’m a soundman n pa system person too. Feels like i’m in that situation.. thanks sir..
This is the worst video I’ve ever watched. I’m only half way through and already my Amazon cart is full of gear I didn’t even know existed ! Those Edison XLR looms are a genius idea. Hope I can finish the video before my wife comes home.
lol, I'm glad you found it helpful! Sorry about the wallet though! I find those power/xlr combo cables a huge timesaver. Thank you for watching and commenting!
APPRECIATE THE LONG VIDEOS. LEARNED A LOT FROM YOU. I RUN A SMALL DJ AND PRODUCTION COMPANY IN WAIKIKI HAWAII AND YOU SHOWED LOTS OF COOL SHORT CUTS . THANK YOU 🙏🏿
I always think of these as a 1.5. Not quite enough work for two, but a fair amount of work for one person. Doable, and cost effective, but a long day. Great to hear you talking about packing mics away first etc, the small details that matter and are often not mentioned. Where possible we ramp directly from the van onto the stage, but I can see here driving the trailer to the front of the stage and reversing in may not have been possible, or maybe not ok with the groundskeeper. Great stuff and thanks for the video.
Great job, and I have to agree a lot of work for one person, and of course people are always trying to talk to you while your line checking and ringing out the monitors.
I really enjoyed the longer video of the set up! Although i do wonder if there’s a head cam mount for your camera, that way whatever you’re seeing the camera is seeing instead of when you weren’t sure what the camera was seeing. But awesome job! Those monitors look awesome! What are they? I need some lol
Sounds great! I am a solo tech myself. Any chance you would be willing to share your scene ? I would love to see your eq compression ect. I learn a lot by seeing how other engineers work.
I'd have to check the manual, but I believe for the DL, the Ultranet out represents AES outputs. Rather than look it up, I just went out of the mixer. But to your point, you could certainly use the Ultranet outputs from the DL
Is this program accessible?? If it is can i get the name of it please. Im a young music engineer trying to get as many programs as possible to deal with PA systems that i setup and specialize in
The program on my tablets and devices is Mixing Station. It's a great tool, especially if you might be mixing on different brand mixers. Not only is it compatible with different brands, you can use similar Mixing Station layouts across those different mixers.
Did you mod the SRXs to accommodate a pole mount? I’ve got 6 of the SP’s and would love to do that. The 828sp are still the best sub in class by my ear.
try lumenradio for wireless dmx any crmx transmitter is far better than standard wireless dmx will need tx and rx but range should be at least a mile line of sight and supports rdm
I use the internal mic of the DJI Pocket 3, it may have been overdriven at parts. I try to center subs at most gigs. As with most things audio, there are compromises between the ideal and what's practical for setup in the location.
Thanks for sharing this video. How much approximately a show like this will pay ? I know it differs from region to region. But just to get an idea of the charges. I am starting a small production company
I found the video while looking for clips of the band in gigs I have done sound for them. Pretty cool to see this video and well done. I have covered them at this spot and was paid $350. That is about the going rate in my area.
@@FrankPavlik-i1o wow - okay thanks for the info - I'm trying to gauge how "big" my band needs to get before we actually start hiring out our live sound at gigs
If you edit with Davinci Resolve you can easily eliminate the background noise in your videos. Especially the parts when you're in your truck. It's only in the paid version, but it's a game-changer. I have Izotope RX and Waves Clarity but Resolve works better and is easier to use.
My question to you is the title of your video says Meijer but I’m seeing you’re running JBL cabinets now. I haven’t watched the whole video but what part of it are you using Meyer oh wait so I added this comment after looking it looks like you’re running the monitors are the brand that I was talking about personally I have never heard that brand but I do know it’s a good brand and second as I’m watching your video say you’re running the mono on the house have you ever thought about running Stereo especially for outside? It actually sounds better in the long run of my opinion than mono, but that’s just my personal opinion now in an arena or someplace like that maybe it’d be different but anyway besides that actually this weekend I’m going to be putting up a large sound system in a local church probably I would say the speakers alone or half 1 million maybe more as we’re dealing with probably 12 subs and six liner raisesand then we got a German board made by SL that’s real nice from Germany
I believe I got them in 2016, soon after they were released by JBL. So they are about 8 years old now and still making $. Thank you for watching and commenting!
I haven't timed it, but I feel it's more efficient to use the power/xlr combo cables for the wedges. Instead of having to coil, store, and layout a power cable and xlr feed, the combo cable is just one cable to pack up instead of two. I also feel it makes for a cleaner stage, and it keeps the outlets in the stringer open for the band to use. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Sometimes it's trial and error. I find the more I use the lights, I learn their coverage pattern, which helps to make some aiming decisions prior to sending them in the air. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Thank goodness for your head mounted GoPro camera! Great work on this video.

what are those yamaha speaker covers that fit the x40?
Yamaha SPCVR-1201. Thanks for watching!
the power cable you run across the stage for all the monitors what do you call that! i want one aha
The cable is from Seismic Audio. It's been working out really well! Thanks for watching and subscribing!
where can i get THAT trailer
What are the name of the 2 lights that you use for the front lighting? And where did you get the small crossbar for them to hang on?
The Front Pars are Probst Lighting Uberpar (I think they are related to Ape Labs). The crossbar is from a square 6 foot t-bar that I cut down to size
Not afraid of tripping that power conditioner with all the wedges on it? What kind of amperage does each wedge draw?
According to the manual, at 1/3 power "under heavy operating conditions" the draw is 2 amps for the 12/15 and 1.4 amps for the 10s
Just a point of curiosity... how much does it generally cost for this level of sound reinforcement at this type of event/venue ???
I work with this band and have done them at this venue. This gig typically pays $300-350.

I saw that you use the Midas DN4816-O to send the monitor wedges? I was thinking that this equipment do not have the voltage to do that.
