- The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach E, a midsize electric SUV, earns the lower-tier TOP SAFETY PICK award at the IIHS crash test.
The all-electric Tesla Model 3, Audi e-tron and Audi e-tron Sportback also qualified for 2021 TOP SAFETY PICK+ awards. Several plug-in hybrid vehicles earned awards, too.
The 2021 TOP SAFETY PICK award requires good ratings in all six IIHS crashworthiness tests - driver- and passenger-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraints. Winners must also be available with good or acceptable headlights and a front crash prevention system that earns advanced or superior ratings in both the vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluations. To qualify for the “plus,” vehicles must come with good or acceptable headlights across all trim levels and packages.

It's got to be so wonderful. You roll down the assembly line, all hopefully, anticipating meeting your new family and running the roads of the world and the first thing they say when you are cleared to leave the plant after just being born is "Okay, send this on the the IIHS, it's been marked for crash testing."

I really don’t get why they don’t just call it the “Mach E.” It doesn’t fit in with the mustang name. Besides “Mach E” is a pretty good name on it’s own.

It's a dash cam and dash cams have usually pretty bad quality

Ford Spokesperson Emma Bergg explains, “Due to unprecedented demand, retail order banks are closed for Model Year 2022 in the U.S.” Ford has a huge hit with the Mach-E, Ford Mustangs are going to continue to evolve over time, there is going to be Mustangs of every type. I guess you can say that Electric cars are much safer compared to gas powered vehicles. Due to the fact that there are no engine parts both in the front, and back.

I dont hate these cars as much as i used to. I just wish they wouldve just named it the "Mach E" and just left the Mustang part out of it or just named it the "Fusion" or something.
I hate the mach-e with a passion. It's a solid electric crossover but that's the thing, mustangs aren't crossovers, it turns the brand identity of the mustang from an intimidating, loud, fast muscle car, to a timid, quiet, and bulky family vehicle.
Edit: if they had made a proper electric mustang, a powerful 2 door coupe, that's intimidating and stylish, I wouldn't be mad. Electric vehicles are the future after all, but this is inexcusable.
@@1mariomaniac I agree. The mustang should be a powerful muscle car with a V8 or a gas engine of some kind. Not some EV crossover SUV thing. I'm sure it is a decent enough vehicle but it is a disgrace to the Mustang name

The fact that all these electric cars are scoring so high on crash test is disturbing. My favourite part is how they don't talk about small accidents that puncture the battery resulting in massive massive battery fires which have been known to kill the occupants.
It's not exactly the epidemic you're making it out to be. It has occurred, yes, but is extraordinarily rare. Besides, no-one bats an eye at the 15 gallons of flammable liquid we've been carting around for the past century or so.
Why is it disturbing? I assume you live in some made up fantasy land where there is some sort of conspiracy to portray EVs as safer than normal vehicles so big government can put chips in all of us and control our cars?
