I normally pin a negative comment but I'm awarding myself a nice one today. Also thanks to everyone for the feedback, both positive and negative, though obviously the positive ones are really good for someone who's been bricking himself over this. I frankly expected a worse initial reaction to this, so I'm both very pleased and very relieved right now.
I'm definitely a fan of the new intro's animation (it looks fantastic) but I'm not the biggest fan of the new song. Though, I might just need an adjustment period. Either way, LOOKS great!
That would be like Nintendo shoehorning microtransactions into their next reissue or remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Pokémon Red/Green/Blue, or any classic Super Mario Bros. game. Activision has created an abomination. >:(
i could see Evil Nintendo using micro transactions in Pokemon game...buy 3 DNA Samples for 99 cents, shove them into a machine and for each one you get 1 of 3 Dna Samples needed to spawn a Pokemon. Of course the cool ones are rare, and you cant sell duplicate Samples, just duplicate Pokemon. You sell them for ingame money that you can´t convert to DNA Samples. Am i greedy enough?
Why not sell pokemon red, but not the entire game, the last few Gym battles are DLC, with microtransactions to level up your pokemon at a not-so-grueling pace, but you can only play the game if you buy pokemon x/y.
You know what the best part is? PC players of CoD4 received the extra maps... as patches. For free. Remember when THAT used to happen? But besides this, yes, these maps used to be free content on the PC version. So PC users of the remastered version have to buy something that wasn't even SOLD IN THE FIRST PLACE.
I am 100% serious, all the maps were added to the game with subsequent patches. It was only after MW2 that DLCs became a thing on PC CoDs too. World at War was the last one to give out maps for free.
No, he's right. I remember the salt levels on IGN being at lethal levels. If I recall, NVidia sponsored it and the variety pack was given out for free along with some patch. Not to mention the PC had optional community hosted servers and the ability to create custom game modes. I think some servers had some mods too. It also ran so, so much better too. It was a great era for PC gamers.
Just re-installed CoD4 the other day. Man does it have pride in its PC version, from the many graphical and control settings, to even including leaning and a fucking mods tab in the main menu. But it's really sad how CoD4 went from a game with an anti-war themes with an anti-nuke message to it's sequels that played out like propaganda and a multiplayer mode that was blatantly celebratory of nukes.
When you said "Release the rights to Metal Arms Glitch in the System" I was turned away from the screen, My head immediately twisted around to shout an angry "YES!!!"
0Anesthetic 4u I was caught off guard when he mentioned Metal Arms. It's an extremely fun game I've played through when I was younger, and I thought it was forgotten and faded into obscurity. In short, I had the same reaction.
I also did a double take when he said this. Now that I've learnt the IP is in Activision's miserable slimy hands I guess that dashes all hopes of a fan remake getting anywhere (there's been one in the works/in limbo for a while now but I really want it to pull through)
@@ethansuter4785 I honestly wish those groups would just start the project underground and keep going even after the C&D. You don't see Pirate Bay or any of those kinds of sites giving a flying shit what these corporations say. Just, make that shit anyways, fuck em. Far as I'm concerned the number of IPs that sit around either unused, or gutted for parts and the last breaths of life like frickin Atari did, deserve better than to be in the hands of those people. Copyright exists to promote the creation of art at the end of the day, and that shit aint it. Personally I think it's better to just make a similar game that's different enough to be safe anyways, not sure why fan remakes have to be super true to the original. Like seriously, if an indie dev wants to make a new Ratchet and Clank style game better than the new ones, and on PC, I'd be on that like an emaciated man who's been trapped in the desert for two weeks, upon first seeing a Chinese buffet.
I come to you the long, long way, from someone who saw a few of Jim's more recent videos, finally went "Oh for fuck's sake, it's about time I just watched them all from the beginning so that things in this new intro will make any amount of sense to me when I do make it back here", and now... here I am. Skeleton warriors in a boglin-themed rollercoaster car. Pogchinko. The Steam Cleaner. The dart boards with publisher logos. Rahaan with his glare face. The stall selling ninja blocks and TVs shaped like apples. The Cornflake Homunculus. The trash can full of copies of Aliens: Colonial Marines. It all makes sense now. *teary eyes* Thank god for Jim..!
Damn Activision, that's fucKonami levels of bad corporate ideas. I could have written fucKonami levels of fucKonami since fucKonami is basically synonymous with bad corporate ideas but that felt a bit too confusing.
Yeah, it boggles the mind how they get away with this degree of customer exploitation and outright abuse... while still selling bazillions of copies time after time, of basically the same game. I suppose an awful lot of people really like shooting each other in the head repeatedly? From the gameplay footage I've seen, it seems well presented and all, but I kind of feel like I'd rather be punching them or using a shotgun or whatever, which I'm sure don't work well in competitive multiplayer because scopey headshots beat pretty much anything. I'd just get so tired of the same thing over and over again. If the sales figures really have started dropping, though, then maybe some of the fans are getting there too... slowly but surely.
wdcain1 It's made even more terrible by ME3's dlc still being around the same price as at their release. Say what you will about Dragon Age Inquisition, but at least its GotY edition has everything included, and is only $30.
Why..? the mass effect trilogy pack is just them bundling the 3 base games together to sell at a discounted price.. that's all, its not a GotY edition or re-master or anything, nothing like this. No different then when I bought a bundle pack of 5 albums from a band off iTunes for like less than half what it would have been to get them all separately.
This is an aberration, and people were salty about Bioshock when they did it too. Most of these collections come with all the DLC because they're no value in holding that back for a 5+ year old game. Even Skyrim, which was a bad port, didn't get a ton of bad press because all the DLC was there. Its literally nickel and diming. Its the shortsighted money making tactic of being a cheapskate and damaging your reputation when doing right by consumers ultimately makes more money. Numbers people never include the long tail of a bad reputation in their profit margins. ME trilogy with all the DLC would have given people who wanted to play ME something positive to say about Bioware when they shit the bed with MEA by, again, cutting corners and ignoring the longterm loss of poor press for the shortterm gain of spending less time/ money making the game.
Let me explain to you Hurried how development works. See when a game is "remastered" that mostly mean that they ported the game to a new engine (with fancier graphics but no new AI or game mechanics) that also mean that for the most part the work is up to the artists to update the assets: no game designer, no art director (really the art was already defined they just need to follow the same guidelines), no voice actor, few programmers (and most are code monkeys; they do not need to think further on how to transpose algo A to the new engine which is a very boring work for en egineer ... I've done that before not as a gaming dev but it remains the same boring stuff) Game port is painful to do but cheap, even more so because it is often done by a studio that just need the money/reputation Then the publisher asks full price for something that cost them a tiny fraction of the initial development (which if they remaster it was a huge success and hence already paid for). sure you can think "ho I loved those games and now all of them are at 1/3 of the price as the trilogy is bundled" but for the publisher it is almost all you pay going back to their profit And this is why you should expect at least all the content created for said game to be part of it: you paid twice for the game. It better be the full game the 2nd time you pay (and yes DLC are part of the game especially in mass effect where some are critical part of the story)
ShadowNetBG Its decently funny but I think it would be better putting sketches and such at the end, kind of wastes time when I think most people come here for the subject of the video
I think the old song got me more pumped, while the new one seems more fun and excited. Maybe bring back Drill Queen for when Jim Fucking Sterling Son needs to take down another asshole developer?
I love the new theme, to be honest, but Born Depressed is kind of inextricably linked to the Jimquisition. It's just been here for too long to just replace it. But hey, it's only the first episode. I'm sure we'll get used to it.
Good to see someone call out Elder scrolls online bullshit with the Morrowind "Expansion" pack...the amount of people justifying paying $40 for...1 zone..1 raid...wow... seriously -_-
One of the myriad of reasons I despise Activision. It's very astute to point out that EA, while certainly not innocent, gets a lot of the flak that Activision truly deserves. I can't think of any publisher that's more nefarious, save Konami (and it's still pretty close).
EA does a lot to earn the ire of gamers. For the most part, EA slowly kills studios it buys out, thus killing many of our favorite franchises. Where EA gets some excessive flak is with its DLC content for the Battlefield series. Let's face it, Battlefield Premium (pre-ordering DLC) is questionable, people don't like season passes because there's never any guarantee that the content you'll get is going to be any good. But at least in doing so you get half decent value for your dollar out of it. Consistently, ever since Battlefield 3, the DLC add-on content provides for more than double the base number of maps, with some new weapons and vehicles thrown in the mix. In a strictly content per dollar metric, that's actually not bad. The thing that I have a problem reconciling is the fact that if you buy the BF DLCs individually, you end up paying a lot more. So your choices are getting the Premium season pass to get good value out of your money, or to pay a hefty price for that added content.
i know i personally give activision more leeway because i like their games so much more than EA's (mostly thanks to blizzard, but ofc they're conjoined so activision gets credit too)
Agent 005 Konami as awful as they are, is more idiotic than malicious. EA and Activision will always be the worst for me due to their sheer malevolence.
imthinkinwacky Are you sure Komoney isn't doing it on purpose to launder money for the Yakuza or something? Last time I checked, those pachinko machines that Komoney is infamous for making are for Japanese pachinko parlors run by the Yakuza that launder their blood money and serve as fronts for their criminal enterprises.
Taking into account the amount of freaks that plague the game industry today, a carnival spin on it was not only appropiate, I think it was NEEDED. Hope you still keep going strong buddy.
I love it how everything we saw in the intro all happened during the lawsuit fiasco. Cheers to your victory Jim, best wishes for more years of your glorious work.
Dang, this new theme is far more congruent with your zany personality and rambunctious flair (meant that in an endearing way). Even better than I imagined it would be - good work, Sterling Team!
Thank you! I believe so as well. I get those who say it doesn't fit, and I don't think it would've fit as much two years ago, but these days I think the new song perfectly sets the tone I have now.
Utterly have to agree Diniece Henderson while i like the drill queen song Jims big ego is a far better suit for ... jims big ego and the show in general (imo only know about jim since escapeist but know the song from shockwave flashplayer from the early 2000`s) never would have guessd it for a pick but its perfect ... except didnt you give up coffee ? and sand fleas ... SAND FLEAS ??????? XD
I certainly have to agree. I was kind of expecting to not entirely like the new intro, music and all, but meh, I'd just deal and get used to it. But honestly, the look, sound, and feel of it all seems quite fitting. (I rather like the hat, btw.)
koosa583622 In that case, I'd suggest checking a dictionary sometime. "Rambunctious" and "zany" have been around for a long time, and were in common use at some time in the past few decades. In my experience, "rambunctious" is often used in the phrases "rambunctious kid(s)", "rambunctious child(ren)", or something similar. "Zany" basically means "wacky", and while it's not used as often nowadays, it used to be used a lot in ads. There was actually a chain of stores called "Zany Brainy". I'm not saying these are used often nowadays, but I don't believe that they're _that_ obscure, and they're definitely not archaic like "thou".
Far cry 5 is set in Montana and the cult seems to be loosely based on the Montana Freeman's Militia. Honestly a pretty accurate representation of what they would have wanted to do. Hell we still have dominionist nutters up here to this day.
I love the developer comment, what inspired them to the new theme. If you read between the lines it says: "We went to Montana met some really crazy people. Let's make about it"
Operation Darkside Its were you go to different churches. Normally just watching the key parts (The sermon). Eh, new families do this until they find that ONE church.
Going from church to church listening to what the preachers have to say. We have everything from doomsayers to snake handlers up here. Most are fairly harmless, but every once in a while a militia will pop up.
Well, it could be worse. They could have sold missions as episodes and release it weekly to be sure to cancel it if it didn't worked. ...crap, i just gave them an idea didn't i?
Just a public service announcement for everyone. Don't forget that Bungie, the developers of the upcoming "Destiny 2", the sequel to a game that originally launched unfinished and broken, are partnered and atleast partially published by Activision. Just throwing it out there -*Don't* preorder destiny 2. Ignore the shiny cosmetic that they'll pack in, and just wait and see if the game is shit or not.
Used to be annoyed by people who said don't preorder games but now I agree with not pre ordering games, seriously people DONT PRE ORDER you are giving money away for a product that is in no way guaranteed to not fuck you over, and continuing to pre order is going to fuck over everyone not just yourself.
Xbox won't let me preorder shit anymore, dunno why. My Preorder of For Honor didn't take any money and on the last day told me I didn't own the game, Destiny has done the same non charging shite so I'll assume I'll have to buy it again. Also Shadow of Wars preorder Orc thing is stupid and undermines the point of the game
Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 came out recently. This was a $50 collection of HD remasters of 5 Kingdom Hearts plus HD cinematic a from a DS game so that people could still experience the story from that game even though they couldn't play it. The HD remasters of the games also included content that was previously only available in the "Final Mix" versions of the games, which were originally only available in Japan and could've been easily been DLC with the amount of content they offer. That's 5 complete games with additional content plus a complete compilation of a game's cinematics PLUS additional content that was added later. This is how you do an HD rerelease(s)
I promised myself i would never be the kind of guy who comments before finishing a video but my God... I was sad when you said you were not using Drill Queen anymore but the second I heard Jim's Big Ego I could not get the smile off my face! Everything about this combination is just too perfect! Seriously Jim make us a playlist please!
Jim, your new style reminds me of The Mad Pierrot from Cowboy Bebop. I mean this in the best way possible. He might have been a mad clown but he was one of extreme style & grace. & he nearly killed Spike more then once. BADASS. I was eating a bowl of cornflakes while watching this. I am FFFing dying after that killer intro & parody-ad. The editing & scriptwork was completely on point. It has real flow. Not to mention the comedy writing is always a solid 9.5 or better well-timed, THIS IS A NEW ERA OF JIMQUISITION. A stronger, smarter one. By 12:23 I was in stitches. Also: METAL ARMS! PLS. I NEED THIS. ALL OVER. Far Cry 5 looks like sh*t.The Preacher trailer was the only one half-decently written & the footage was a step back from 3 & 4.
I'm only a recent-time viewer (2015) of the Jimquisition and only just started listening to the podcast this year, but I don't really mind the changes to the Jimquisiton. Sure the theme may be different, but a vague carnival ringmaster setting seems apt for the subject matter. It may not have that "iconic" dictator feel the show has portrayed for a long time, but that's how it is with changing the premise of a show. If Chris Jericho can reinvent himself time after time and still make his gimmicks work, I don't see why Jim's show can't do the same thing.
Couldnt agree more. The song is as far away from my personal taste as you can get, but if jim likes it im cool. And the new intro video plus the new hat plus this weird cane thingy are absolutely awesome.
ShootingStarNeo That doesn't get as many clicks on sensationalised news articles. but seriously, it's a non issue. Remember the censoring of outlast 2? The scene wasn't even worth the time the Devs put in, and the news was everywhere because it gets clicks.
It's like they don't understand that average Americans are the ones being put upon by the bad guys in this scenario. Fictional residents in Montana have a gun put to their head and are made to fight against their own government, and some people choose to identify with the cultists, before the game is even finished.
Agreed. The normal Americans are the ones that in the trailers are basically saying "we had a good life, then these fuckers showed up, so we're fighting back".
I like the new intro and the carnival ringmaster thing you seem to be going for. One word of advice: If you're going to keep the top hat and cane, you might want to move the camera back. They sometimes dip slightly out of the frame in that way that looks wrong.
so I gotta ask. on the far cry thing, did resi 7 and outlast 2 just not happen or what? shit outlast 2 has an upside down cross on it and I haven't seen shit about religious persecution. This non-issue is bullshit.
What did Resi 7 have? I saw a little talk on the Outlast 2 forums about the religious side, but nothing major. I think the difference(s) is Outlast 2 is a smaller, less publicized game that doesn't have a seeming "political" slant (depending on how you interpret the trailers) compared to the Far Cry 5 content we've seen.
Games like Outlast don't exactly get on the mainstream news. Hell, the Dark Souls series literally had you slaughter two church congregations and the FUCKING POPE, and nobody noticed because it's not the average dude-bro's cup of tea.
InfernalLawyer This is why I'm thinking this is all bullshit. if these people actually gave two shits a damn or a fuck this "controversy" would've passed by now. I mean I feel like you don't much care about the topic if you're only vocal when something big comes up.
Its probably an UbiSoft marketing tactic to make and get as much attention as possible and what better way to do that than to make it political and piss off a group.
The carnival aesthetic really works better and generally well for the show. With wacky characters and stories, it fits the tone of crazy gaming stories as told through Pog Fucker. I loved it.
Hard to tell who is the worst in this, the company trying to pull this kind of shit off or the whales that keep throwing their money at everything they can ?
That's what i always thought, i don't blame these big publishers for doing things like this; be it Activision, EA, etc. they are a business out to make as much money as possible. I completely put all the blame on the consumers that fall for this every time, these business practices should have died years ago along with pre-ordering as there's no reason to pre-order games anymore in the digital world. As the old saying goes "vote with your wallet"
they are? I only see greedy, garbage company that owns the most loved company Blizzard, I think Blizzard love is unjustified just like Nintendo, their not your friends people they only want your fucken money. I trust no company now, since last one Atlus pulled DLC and whole streaming bullshit I lost all faith these assholes to, plus Persona 5 was disappointment to previous games.
40K Theories what are you talking about? The Dark Angels are totally loyal and any rumors of heretic Dark Angels are LIES AND SLANDER and said liars will be found and "reeducated"
I think the most egregious of all these moves, as shitty as each one is, is that the Season Pass for Infinite Warfare does not include the DLC for Modern Warfare Remastered, even though you _explicitly can't_ get one without the other.
tbh, the gaming industry could probably use another big reboot I mean, yeah, there are some really awesome games coming out but all this corporate greed is getting out of hand and a crash may be the only thing to set things right again. Maybe Nintendo will save the day again, but who am I kidding? :P
nah. there's enough indie now to hold us over. and some corners of the industry will never crash. Nintendo has many flaws but not in the same ways Activision or EA have etc. GOG and CDPR will blow right by any of the shenanigans publishers decide to pull. it's fine. you can fear that your favorite genre is going to die, but the industry as a whole won't crash. which is a shame really because it needs to reboot somehow.
At the same time, I feel that gaming is changing as we know it. Which leads to the question, how long will it be before gamers just get burned out? Will gamers just quit, or at least take a break?
don't be silly, everybody just quits or takes breaks. but never ever will every gamer do it at the same time. and new gamers are born every second so.. the gaming industry is here to stay and it is getting bigger and will still take a while before it plateaus and stops expanding.
14:37 Fucking How? It seems to me that the villains are quite clearly based on the Lord's Resistance Army, a horrid organization that no one should think worthy of defending.
I'm still trying to find any people actually complaining about the Far Cry 5 enemies. I only see folks bitching about those people, none of which I have found.
the Transformer to Decepticon transition, implying the same shift in Jim's demeanour in this video was probably one of favourite video transitions of all time. OUTSTANDING
New intro/outro animations and graphics are great, and I don't mind the new song. I'm sure it'll grow on me. However, I loved your Drill Queen theme the first time I heard it, immediately looked it up. It's certainly become iconic and synonymous with the Jimquisition. Though I miss the old theme dearly, I respect that it's your show and if you like the new song, power to you Jim (and thank God for you of course). Either way, I can't help but hum the old theme during the intro :P
You really are one of a kind Jim Fucking Sterling Son, out of everything that is avaible through youtube You and your show is the only thing makes monday a day I kind of look forward to. If that aint a pin in your hat I don´t know what is.
You know... it might due to the changes... but i came to the realization that Jim tries to be as fabulous as JoJo' Bizarre Adventure and he is coming closer and closer.
Thanks Jim, loved the new intro by the way. COD was a nice gaming series, realistic arcade style gameplay. Having COD MW as the pinnacle of it's performance and having a few memorable ones. I won't defend them anymore, I won't be hyped for their new games anymore(though Advanced Warfare did it already), Activision has crossed the line. COD 4: MW, a pure experience, they ruined it. I guess it's old news for them, right? As long as it makes money. Well, my loyalty is old news aswell.
Justin Alvira If the internet has taught me one thing, it's that rock bottom is never rock bottom. You think Digital Homicide are the worst, most narcissistic and "victimised" people on the internet? Nope, Chris Chan. You think Konami will stop being terrible and destroying their own franchises? Nope, pachinko and Metal Gear Survive. Somehow, things always find a way to get worse.
YesteryearsGamer you mean individual games, because they tried that already with online passes, thankfully there was enough backlash towards it to get companies to stop
cReDiiTz glad I skipped that Fire Emblem then. Fates was a shit show of dlc so I definitely held off buying anymore titles from Nintendo. It's like they want us to not buy their garbage games with nearly 50 dollar season passes and it's on a handheld they may stop supporting soon. Seriously how stupid is Nintendo?
Don't forget all the stupid script changes in recent Fire Emblem games, 2 characters having a conversation about killing or murdering? nope that's a no go in a game where you kill dozens people.
Condorscondor Condor I enjoy it too, but it's strange. Far Cry doing Christianity, Religion in general being brought up at E3 for no apparent reason. Then there's the bomb in Manchester which was disgusting, but led to the One Love Manchester show, which had countless people squeeling in docile glee at Justin Bieber who shows up, plays one er two songs and leaves by saying "God is good, God is the Saviour and you should love him". That and Battlefield and Cod both reminding us about WW 1 & 2?? Very Strange year filled with allusions to Religion and War. What the fuck is happening?
So the Sterling Jester is a ringmaster now? I like it, it suits you. "Welcome to jim sterling's traveling carnival of monstrosities and oddities", huh?
As long as publishers keep trying to sell games to me in pieces I'll continue to buy them years later, when I can buy a complete product at a heavy discount (50-90% off). Or I just never buy that shit because I've long since forgotten the piecemeal game ever existed... which is honestly what usually happens.
Complete editions and complete remasters are supper important, and activision deserves every ounce of backlash for CoD:MW Remastered. I also agree that ultimate edition with preorder exclusive content is contradictory and not-ultimate.
That debacle is the only reason why im not going to buy COD WW2. Im tired of that bullshit. When they revealed the WW2 trailer, the first thing that came to my mind was: hmm COD 2 remastered soon.....
I remember people where DEFENDING the game for having less maps than the original saying Activision is working on them and they'll be released for free in December...Well March came and past and...I wonder what their response is.
Oh and lets not forget that there was a CoD about WW2 after CoD4 called Call of Duty World at War. (Admittedly on of my favorites.) I always wanted a remaster of that old game which I spent hundred and hundred of hours on. Made tons of friends. Had a lot of fun with. Now however I'm not so sure I really want that anymore and even typing this makes me sad.
Love the new intro Jim! Thank god for Jim F*ing Sterling!

I'm definitely a fan of the new intro's animation (it looks fantastic) but I'm not the biggest fan of the new song. Though, I might just need an adjustment period. Either way, LOOKS great!
Yup....thats why I didnt get the game. Who the hell puts microtransactions into a remastered game that originally never used them?
That would be like Nintendo shoehorning microtransactions into their next reissue or remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Pokémon Red/Green/Blue, or any classic Super Mario Bros. game.
Activision has created an abomination. >:(
A microtransactioned remastered game with paid dlc mappacks being held ransom by another game.
well, nintendo did put 80$ dlc total on the remake of Fire emblem Gaiden, the so called Fire emblem Echoes: Shadow of Valentia
i could see Evil Nintendo using micro transactions in Pokemon game...buy 3 DNA Samples for 99 cents, shove them into a machine and for each one you get 1 of 3 Dna Samples needed to spawn a Pokemon.
That's why I call them Microtransactivision
Dear god, that's genius.
Joseph Pastore That's what Activision's Skylanders figures are if you think about it.
Autobot Starscream Someone needed to revoke their rights to Spyro 6 years ago.
Joseph Pastore so it has a tiny penis?
The way they whored out bungie should have been the wakeup call, at least someone is addressing it now. And Damn them to hell for ruining THPS
Jim's gonna need some more patrons with that kind of pyro budget.
He should sell a remastered Jimquisition with improved pyro to pay the bills.
You know what the best part is? PC players of CoD4 received the extra maps... as patches. For free. Remember when THAT used to happen? But it's really sad how CoD4 went from a game with an anti-war themes with an anti-nuke message to it's sequels that played out like propaganda and a multiplayer mode that was blatantly celebratory of nukes.
And lets not forget that the "remaster", on PC, does not have one of the things that has kept cod4 alive still to this day. The server browser.
This is sad. I never got to experience the original and still have a desire to play it.

Where does Activision fit in that company collection montage?

I was caught off guard when he mentioned Metal Arms. It's an extremely fun game I've played through when I was younger, and I thought it was forgotten and faded into obscurity.
In short, I had the same reaction.
My favorite OG Xbox game
I also did a double take when he said this. Now that I've learnt the IP is in Activision's miserable slimy hands I guess that dashes all hopes of a fan remake getting anywhere (there's been one in the works/in limbo for a while now but I really want it to pull through)

Like seriously, if an indie dev wants to make a new Ratchet and Clank style game better than the new ones, and on PC, I'd be on that like an emaciated man who's been trapped in the desert for two weeks, upon first seeing a Chinese buffet.
"Avatar of Activision's Avarice"
Triple A
I get it.
GG
New theme'll take some getting used to but I dig the new intro.
Maya Zulf same
more pyrotechnics!!
Ahh, Stress by Jim's Big Ego. I always enjoyed that song...
I didn't like the new song at first either, but they are musical geniuses (jims big ego)
I'm a simple man.
I see cornflakes humonkulus, I up vote
I'm a simple man.
I see a " I'm a simple man " comment, I up vote.
You gotta love Cornflakes humonkulus..lol
Homunculus*
It is literally more unethical to buy these re-releases than to pirate them. That's the landscape Activism has created.
Hell, we could mod the old versions of the old modern warfare games just to spite them.
joeyghost Galactic Warfare with PezBOT😎
ThatKidOverThere in that case I'm the most ethical person by simply not having any interest in activision products at all, thank god for me
+wantnotwant Same. I boycotted them a good few years ago for various reasons.
I think you mean "activision", activism is what pirating their crap should be called
One could say the old music is now... iconic
(yes, I went there)
Alex Smith Ubisoft iconic or "iconic" iconic?
Sans's Dunkateer jim sterling iconic
Sterliconic
Alex Smith well, it HAS become as strongly associated to Jim as Believe it or Not has to the Cinema Snob, so your joke isn't INvaild
Wow... I made the exact same joke and didn't get one like.
It stunned me how the _Mass Effect Trilogy_ was released without all the DLC. Why should I bother buying it if it's not complete?
wdcain1 It's made even more terrible by ME3's dlc still being around the same price as at their release.
Well it had the 1st game's DLC, but yeah, point taken
See when a game is "remastered" that mostly mean that they ported the game to a new engine (with fancier graphics but no new AI or game mechanics) that also mean that for the most part the work is up to the artists to update the assets:
no game designer, no art director (really the art was already defined they just need to follow the same guidelines), no voice actor, few programmers (and most are code monkeys; they do not need to think further on how to transpose algo A to the new engine which is a very boring work for en egineer ... I've done that before not as a gaming dev but it remains the same boring stuff)
Game port is painful to do but cheap, even more so because it is often done by a studio that just need the money/reputation
Then the publisher asks full price for something that cost them a tiny fraction of the initial development (which if they remaster it was a huge success and hence already paid for). sure you can think "ho I loved those games and now all of them are at 1/3 of the price as the trilogy is bundled" but for the publisher it is almost all you pay going back to their profit
And this is why you should expect at least all the content created for said game to be part of it: you paid twice for the game. It better be the full game the 2nd time you pay (and yes DLC are part of the game especially in mass effect where some are critical part of the story)
Hey hey! Thanks!
Jims Big Ego you’re welcome
♫ I'm addicted to stress, that's the way that I get things done... ♫
We need the true soundtrack of the Jimquisition for the intro...
Break Those Chains Of Love!
I honestly thought that Jim bought the license for Chains of Love. Wouldn't have surprised me at all.
That cornflakes commercial sure convinced me to eat them.
ShadowNetBG One second watching Cornflakes commercial
Next second suddenly buying cornflakes.
Well played...
ShadowNetBG Its decently funny but I think it would be better putting sketches and such at the end, kind of wastes time when I think most people come here for the subject of the video
I'm not impressed with how he portrayed cornflakes, therefor I shall not buy any kellogg's product ever again.
Jim Sterling sold out.
Chaosian01 For a good cause though.
Did you know that eating cornflakes makes you immortal???
I think the old song got me more pumped, while the new one seems more fun and excited. Maybe bring back Drill Queen for when Jim Fucking Sterling Son needs to take down another asshole developer?
snowmanmanvideo so....90% of episodes..lol
You're right, shoulda said if another Homicide Digital happened. That's only like 25% I think
I love the new theme, to be honest, but Born Depressed is kind of inextricably linked to the Jimquisition. It's just been here for too long to just replace it. But hey, it's only the first episode. I'm sure we'll get used to it.
Remember how he had that alternate version of Drill Queen for those "emergency" off-schedule videos? Maybe he could just keep DQ for those.
Good to see someone call out Elder scrolls online bullshit with the Morrowind "Expansion" pack...the amount of people justifying paying $40 for...1 zone..1 raid...wow... seriously -_-
Geoff That costs money?
At least Ea with Star Wars the old republic has the decency to release true expansions .And they are free if you are a subscriber
tfw the Cornflake Homonculus is scarier than most horror monsters.
Agent 005 I think they are still making arcade machines too....
i know i personally give activision more leeway because i like their games so much more than EA's (mostly thanks to blizzard, but ofc they're conjoined so activision gets credit too)
Agent 005 Konami as awful as they are, is more idiotic than malicious.
Yes, this re-theme exceeded all my expectations. I'm impressed at how well he was able to convert over all the props he already had!
Why did I read that in a flamboyant, british accent ? ...who am I kidding ?
(I rather like the hat, btw.)
koosa583622
In that case, I'd suggest checking a dictionary sometime.
Activision, at this point, aren't just skeleton warriors. They're skeleton five star generals.
Sergeant Majors, they majorly fucked up the industry
Baron Kotick
Far cry 5 is set in Montana and the cult seems to be loosely based on the Montana Freeman's Militia. Honestly a pretty accurate representation of what they would have wanted to do. Hell we still have dominionist nutters up here to this day.
I love the developer comment, what inspired them to the new theme. If you read between the lines it says: "We went to Montana met some really crazy people. Let's make about it"
Operation Darkside Ya I invite anyone offended at this to come up here and I'll take them church hopping for a day and see if they change their mind.
Growing up in a different country I don't know what church hopping means
Operation Darkside Its were you go to different churches. Normally just watching the key parts (The sermon). Eh, new families do this until they find that ONE church.
Going from church to church listening to what the preachers have to say. We have everything from doomsayers to snake handlers up here. Most are fairly harmless, but every once in a while a militia will pop up.
Well, it could be worse. They could have sold missions as episodes and release it weekly to be sure to cancel it if it didn't worked.
...crap, i just gave them an idea didn't i?
gotta pay 2 dollars everytime you want to get past the "press any button" title screen
Please don't give them any ideas..lol
For a second I thought you where serious about the contract..
Then I heard Kelloggs.
Made my heart skip a beat man.
Aza-Industries All hail the Cornflakes humongous!
Ummm he *is* serious.
Or maybe not lol.
Putting "Money" by Pink Floyd in the background is a really nice touch.
Yep if you are going to tweak the Copyright Overlords' noses, do it with class :D
no it's fine he played fake pink floyd
What time code? (so I can watch that bit again not thru laptop speakers lol).nvm- found it lol.
At the five minute point
As you guys are talking songs already. Can you identify the song that starts at 7:20? I'm losing my mind here :(
"Avatar of Activisions Avarice"... Thank God for Jim Sterling.
Thank Jim for God
I have no doubt he deservedly patted himself on the back for that alliteration :P
Learned that lesson the hard way with the 1st game
Used to be annoyed by people who said don't preorder games but now I agree with not pre ordering games, seriously people DONT PRE ORDER you are giving money away for a product that is in no way guaranteed to not fuck you over, and continuing to pre order is going to fuck over everyone not just yourself.
Film Ambassadors you can preorder crash for some keychains... let that sink in for a minute
Preordering doesn't make sense anymore, at least with digital sales. They won't run out of stock, so what's the point?
*Circus Sterling*
Next weeks show - watch how ringmaster Jim makes Chip jump trough rings of fire!
Oh shit! Jim's sold out.
"I got Pyrotechnics. " *pop*
Oh thank god it's classic Jim.
Not to mention the comedy writing is always a solid 9.5 or better well-timed,
THIS IS A NEW ERA OF JIMQUISITION.
The Mad Pierrot is one of my favorite Bebop episodes, dude. How did I miss this?
I fancy a bowl of Cornflakes now.
A bowl of cornflakes from the soul of cornflakes.
"iconic"™ Ubisoft.
It should also be noted that the DLC for the original COD4 was free on PC. Now it's 14,99€... No thanks.
Great new animated intro. Music has nothing on Drill Queen but oh well.
Stress is a pretty damn good song, plus it's by Jim's Big Ego, so you know he HAD to...
It's kinda genius, considering the chorus runs basically on the same cadence as Born Depressed.
Couldnt agree more. The song is as far away from my personal taste as you can get, but if jim likes it im cool. And the new intro video plus the new hat plus this weird cane thingy are absolutely awesome.
They changed it, now it SUCKS!!
i thought that intro was swanky as all hell, nicely done jim and others who worked on it!
With regards to the Far Cry 5 "controversy":
Bioshock Infinite.
That is all.
ShootingStarNeo
That doesn't get as many clicks on sensationalised news articles.
but seriously, it's a non issue. Remember the censoring of outlast 2? The scene wasn't even worth the time the Devs put in, and the news was everywhere because it gets clicks.
ShootingStarNeo White guilt prohibit 's such critique of American society from being scrutunised.
I was thinking similarly, but with Spec Ops: The Line
It's like they don't understand that average Americans are the ones being put upon by the bad guys in this scenario. Fictional residents in Montana have a gun put to their head and are made to fight against their own government, and some people choose to identify with the cultists, before the game is even finished.
Agreed. The normal Americans are the ones that in the trailers are basically saying "we had a good life, then these fuckers showed up, so we're fighting back".
so will we get F*cktivision news after this too?
Attila Pataki we can only fuck so many companies at once
-hey that spells AAA-
I've got a better name for it; how about instead of Fucktivision or Asshole Activision we say C-*SKELETON WARRIORS*-ivision
Nathan Clark - Whether you think we can or can't, you're right. With enough Vaseline, no challenge is insurmountable.
or Assivision.
i mean come on, they have Blizzard, and plus their pretty much just tubro turding call of duty out.
This is fucking unbelievable.
Tomorrow's unethical business practices, TODAY!
(Thanks Devolver Digital)
I like the new intro and the carnival ringmaster thing you seem to be going for.
One word of advice: If you're going to keep the top hat and cane, you might want to move the camera back. They sometimes dip slightly out of the frame in that way that looks wrong.
so I gotta ask. on the far cry thing, did resi 7 and outlast 2 just not happen or what? shit outlast 2 has an upside down cross on it and I haven't seen shit about religious persecution. This non-issue is bullshit.
K -OZ maybe right-wingers don't know what horror games are?
BORN INNOCENT BORN PERFECT
I'M NOT LIKE YOU
(I admit I do miss it, but the new one is good anyway)
The carnival aesthetic really works better and generally well for the show. With wacky characters and stories, it fits the tone of crazy gaming stories as told through Pog Fucker. I loved it.
Hard to tell who is the worst in this, the company trying to pull this kind of shit off or the whales that keep throwing their money at everything they can ?
Seigmoraig its obvious it both, why let one of them to get away with it.
One flourishes because of the other.
Seigmoraig The whales, obviously
Company. Taking advantage of someone with an addiction doesn't make you both bad, just makes you more scummy.
And that's why Activision is the most admired gaming company in the world :| atleast by investors
Crystallking H lol true dat
Not by consumers mind you, investors. Honestly they are one of the least consumer friendly Companies out there.
This video is a masterpiece. I love how he says "disgusting" at 6:03. You can FEEL the contempt he has for Activision. XD
this new image change is so fitting I honestly cannot believe it took this long.
That is pretty much how I felt once I finally saw everything put together.
Jim Sterling shiiiit, noticed by senpai. i feel like a real big dick yt commenter now, which is a depressing thought
so what are you gonna do with your new found fame?
Press F to thank god for him.
F
More Cornflakes Homunculus. MORE
5:52 Love Jim using the song Money in the background to highlight greed, lol
I have a sudden craving for cornflakes
And death?
I've got some blueberries in the fridge that I didn't know what to do with until now.
Thank God for Cornflakes homunculus
I couldn't help but notice the Dark Angels insignia on the lectern.
I KNEW HE WAS A HERETIC!!
40K Theories what are you talking about? The Dark Angels are totally loyal and any rumors of heretic Dark Angels are LIES AND SLANDER and said liars will be found and "reeducated"
Let me get my flamer.....
i always thought jim would have been more of a "Dank Angels" astarte
+40K Theories

Didn't you know? Jim's secretly been a Nurglite for years now.
I think the most egregious of all these moves, as shitty as each one is, is that the Season Pass for Infinite Warfare does not include the DLC for Modern Warfare Remastered, even though you _explicitly can't_ get one without the other.
Bobby Koc-heads resignation letter is 4 years overdue, What the fuck?!
I also love how Activision is now using betas as a pre order bonus with Destiny 2 and COD WW2.
Dovahkiff Time to get a whole new wave of suckers in on those betas!
I'm afraid of the Gaming industry crashing again from the corporate office decisions. Maybe not now, but within the next few years.
tbh, the gaming industry could probably use another big reboot
I mean, yeah, there are some really awesome games coming out but all this corporate greed is getting out of hand and a crash may be the only thing to set things right again.
I'm hoping the same for holywood. When art and entertainment become big business it hurts quality.
14:37 Fucking How? It seems to me that the villains are quite clearly based on the Lord's Resistance Army, a horrid organization that no one should think worthy of defending.
You would THINK that would be fairly obvious, but no, apparently it's an attack on "Average Americans".
Simon Leary I've never understood how the Internet could take things so wildly out of context.
I'm still trying to find any people actually complaining about the Far Cry 5 enemies. I only see folks bitching about those people, none of which I have found.
This episode is probably one of Jim's best "Jimformance". Just blow by blow. Fantastic reimagining.
I still love the Kellogg's Homunculus. I hope it never dies.
YsaleMoo legit terrifying
You cannot kill what has never been milked.
Already miss Born Depressed... :(
It will be included with the Premium Edition of this episode, only $59.99.
BuddySweyzer I'll take it I'll take 12
BuddySweyzer If you preorder it comes with the Jazz version of the song for free!
And I miss the classic "harpy" background music much more. It was smoother on the ears and had a nicer mood to it. He will never bring it back. ;_;
Comical It showed up near the end yo.
“What a nice *GIFT*
I love the subtle touch of playing Pink Floyd’s “Money”.
Love the circus freak-show style intro and the elaborate costume, especially that wonderfully gaudy cane.
*Godly cane
Gaudy Godly Cane?
Works
That CANE. You talked about it on the podcast and were entirely correct. It is fucking MAJESTIC.
New song feels fresh, fits your character more...
For a second there I thought you were blaspheming by calling Jim a British twat.
the Transformer to Decepticon transition, implying the same shift in Jim's demeanour in this video was probably one of favourite video transitions of all time. OUTSTANDING
Loved the changes, but wasn't a huge fan of the transformers-like screen transitions.
Yeah, it felt really out of place for some reason. And for the Jimquisition, that's saying something
Good intro. Still waiting for my refund on the Pogs For Boglins scam tho.
I got mine by going to jimmyslots.net which is a fantastic place for the whole family!
Michelle Lehto I prefer juicy slots but hey to each their own
steven durrant Contact this lawyer here:

Quite like the new intro. Not fully convinced the new song has the same impact as the old one however. It may grow on me
New intro/outro animations and graphics are great, and I don't mind the new song.
I came......
to this video, to watch this week's Jimquisition!
You know... it might due to the changes... but i came to the realization that Jim tries to be as fabulous as JoJo' Bizarre Adventure and he is coming closer and closer.
FinalplayerRyu he needs to work on his posing.
FinalplayerRyu True, but is he fabulous enough to melt ice with his abs? No? Still not fabulous enough. 7/10
Mister Torgue Flexinton Half the poses would break his back, so i think he will have to limit himself a little bit.
Talking about corporate greed while "Money" plays in the background, even tho it's a cover version, is a nice touch.
So is this it? Has Activision become the epitome of scum within the gaming industry, or do you think we can still go deeper?
Justin Alvira If the internet has taught me one thing, it's that rock bottom is never rock bottom. You think Digital Homicide are the worst, most narcissistic and "victimised" people on the internet? Nope, Chris Chan. You think Konami will stop being terrible and destroying their own franchises? Nope, pachinko and Metal Gear Survive.
Somehow, things always find a way to get worse.

WE NEED TO GO DERPER!
YesteryearsGamer you mean individual games, because they tried that already with online passes, thankfully there was enough backlash towards it to get companies to stop
Give it time. Eventually Activision will catch up to MMOs and start charging a monthly fee on top of the paid DLC and microtransactions.
The aesthetic change is fuckin A+. Thank god for Jim.
This is the best Jim Sterling video he has made in my opinion.
CHEERS
THANK GOD FOR HIM.
Can I just mention Forza Horizon 3, a £40 game, has a £30 expansion pass?
silverdarlin new Forza games made me give up on racing games lol
Yeah, but Forza Horizon 3 is such a great game with so much content that it doesn't even bother me. Plus, the expansions are great.
cReDiiTz glad I skipped that Fire Emblem then. Fates was a shit show of dlc so I definitely held off buying anymore titles from Nintendo. It's like they want us to not buy their garbage games with nearly 50 dollar season passes and it's on a handheld they may stop supporting soon. Seriously how stupid is Nintendo?
Don't forget all the stupid script changes in recent Fire Emblem games, 2 characters having a conversation about killing or murdering? nope that's a no go in a game where you kill dozens people.
i kinda dig the pseudo-christian cult vibe goin on in far cry 5.
I personally preferred the old intro music, not that the new one is bad.
The new intro lacks the *energy* of the old one IMHO. I like it though.
So the Sterling Jester is a ringmaster now? I like it, it suits you. "Welcome to jim sterling's traveling carnival of monstrosities and oddities", huh?
Holy FUCK do I agree about Metal Arms!
Oscar Cooke-Abbott Game is such a classic. By far one of my favorite game of that gen. That and the two TimeSplitters that came out.
That intro...... *PERFECT*
He should honestly have some white stripes in the intro. The colours he use are perfect for it.
RIP Spunkgargleweewee *(2007-2017)*
was it just for modern military shooters or activision/ea style corridor shooters in general?
I was going to guess the band's name was _Digital Homicide_.
Archangel1991 unless they get raven to do that remaster, I doubt they would make one for 2, considering that was not sledgehammers game
I remember people where DEFENDING the game for having less maps than the original saying Activision is working on them and they'll be released for free in December...Well March came and past and...I wonder what their response is.
Jim, I would an episode about Square Enix announcing games way to bloody early, Final Fantasy 7 remake, Kingdom Hearts 3 and The Avengers project...
Yes please. With every year I grow more angry and ask why they announced it so early when it's still years in the making
