I can't thank you enough for this tutorial. I found your patterns recently and fell in love with the designs, but felt intimidated learning a new technique. As a visual learner, this was an absolutely perfect way to get the basics down, and I feel so proud of myself having my first piece of mosaic crochet sitting in front of me after only 20 minutes. I can't wait to keep going!
Thanks so much for an easy to follow guide on this form of crochet. I was getting frustrated cause no one was explaining/demonstrating from start to finish which made it hard for me to understand. I didn't want to give up and I'm so glad I didnt and found your video!
You are definitely taking the rear out of Mosaic crochet for me. I am doing the tutorial in the book and had this going as well, only because I messed up on my double crochet and border stitch. But seeing you do them here and then rereading what you wrote, it completely clicked with me! Thank you so much for adding a tutorials here, I will be definitely be watching them!
Not quite sure what I was expecting with mosaic crochet and how to do it but thank you for a great tutorial. I will definitely be giving it a go. Bought your bat pattern and now just need to learn. Almost feels like a whole new skill to learn but I'm up for it.
Thank you! I understand it after watching 90 million other peoples videos! You were clear and precise and it really helped me! Now I am going to make a scarf! :)
I've tried to learn mosaic crochet a few times and I've always found it confusing. For some reason, the way you show it allowed me to make sense of it. Thank you!
I was very intimidated with your lovely patterns. I wasn’t sure I would be able to do them but this Intro tutorial really opened my eyes to the simplicity of the block patterns. Very easy to follow along and now I want to try all your Halloween patterns on Ravelry.
Thank you so much for this! Your instruction is very easy to follow after my brain got over the initial panic of learning something new. Genuinely looking forward to more videos!
I just found your channel on my tv. Had to go to my iPad to check out your channel, to leave a comment. Your work is phenomenal and one of a kind. Not the same old regular patterns I’ve seen on RUclips. I choose not to use any other social media, just RUclips. Thank you for your tutorials!!
I will be getting into Mosaic soon. I have a friend pushing (gently) me toward it. I love that it's a designed pattern and really is easy. Thank you for sharing.
I’ve finally completed my first mosaic piece because of your tutorial. Thank you for the easy to follow directions and for sharing your love and knowledge of crocheting mosaics. I love the way my turned out again thanks🤗
I am so excited to give mosaic crochet a try!! All of your patterns are so cute for fall/Halloween! Hopefully I can make some of my friends some throw pillows!!!
I just found your patterns and videos - how exciting! Great first video - very helpful. Bought one of your pattern bundles, ordered your book and recommended KnitPicks yarn - looking forward to starting. So fun! 😃❤️😃
I love your patterns and charts! I'm curious how you make your charts? I have a symbol I want to turn into mosaic but not quite sure how to go about doing it. Do you have any pointers on where to go?
I love all your designs 😍, very glad I found your patterns and channel! I'm also a beginner but I got hooked (😜) and I can't wait to try your patterns. It was very easy to understand, thank you very much ❤️
It depends in the yarn you're using. Some yarn like wool and acrylic fills in those holes so you don't see the pulled stitch so much. Single strand and cotton yarn will tend to pull those stitches a bit more. I have a whole video discussing the best and worst yarn for mosaic crochet that addresses that issue. Hope that helps!
Thank you for making this tutorial! But I can’t get the stitch count in row 3 right; I think I’m inserting the hook in the wrong place. Can you help me with that please? :)

I'm fairly new to crocheting in general and have started teaching myself to make things like beanies and such, and I thought I might be able to one day start adding mosaic patterns into them but after watching how it's done, I have no idea how to go from this to adding it into beanie designs and whatnot. How would you go about that, or am I possibly overreaching? 😅
Hello! Trying to learn this wonderful way of making spoopy things and so far I'm following along okay, I think, I missed if the double crochets always go into the previous row's stitch? 😅
@@Apathetic_Trash awe! Lots of luck! The bats are definitely a lot easier for a beginner than some of my other patterns! There will be links and lots of photo tutorials in the pattern as well to help you along
I see you are crocheting tightly. Is that to help hide the row in the upcoming next row? Because it sure looks neatly hidden! N yes im interested in learning this, lol.
I just naturally crochet very tightly, and this being my very first video I was also super nervous! You don't need to crochet this tightly for mosaic crochet though.
Is the border stitch for all of your patterns? I ask because I'm trying my very first of yours dragon scales im doing the chart and im following this video to start just want to make sure it's the same for all patterns and not just this one
So since you’re cutting your yarn at the end of each row does that mean you don’t turn your work ever? You always start on the right with the same side always facing you?
The Houndstooth pattern is the easiest one that I have. There's also a beginner's 3 pack of patterns in my etsy store, which includes Houndstooth, Vintage Keys, and Chevron & Skulls. How do you avoid stretching of the stitch from below for the double crochet?
It depends in the yarn you're using. Some yarn like wool and acrylic fills in those holes so you don't see the pulled stitch so much. Single strand and cotton yarn will tend to pull those stitches a bit more. I have a whole video discussing the best and worst yarn for mosaic crochet that addresses that issue. Hope that helps!
@sixeldesign Kind of a weird Q but what type of yarn needle are you using here? It’s so much longer and sharper than any of my yarn needles!
Is there a way to carry your yarn up to the next row so you don’t ha a million ends to weave in?
You don't have to weave the ends in. It really depends on the project you're making. When working mosaic crochet flat, you will always have ends.
Thank you for making this tutorial! But I can’t get the stitch count in row 3 right; I think I’m inserting the hook in the wrong place. Can you help me with that please? :)
How many stitches do you have in row 2?
Fabulous, I’m finally trying this. That first border stitch is giving me a hard time. Any tips?

Beautiful work! Thank you for sharing the video lesson. For a question: Are Overlay Crochet and Mosaic Crochet the same Crochet techniques?
There are 2 types of mosaic crochet, this one is overlay.
Thank you so much!!! This is sooo helpful!!🥰
Hello! Trying to learn this wonderful way of making spoopy things and so far I'm following along okay, I think, I missed if the double crochets always go into the previous row's stitch? 😅
Yes, they do. You only add DCs to the row below of the same color, never in the row you're working on.

What size needle should I be using?
It depends on your yarn. I usually use an H 5mm hook for worsted weight yarn. You could also go up or down in size depending on your tension.

Yes they're the same. The only time you wouldn't use border stitches is when you're working in the round.
Yeahhhh! Videos 😍😍
Do you include the stitch diagram in your patterns off etsy? Want to get a couple, just very intimidated 😆

So since you’re cutting your yarn at the end of each row does that mean you don’t turn your work ever? You always start on the right with the same side always facing you?

what is the yarn and hook size for this sample please?
I use worsted weight and an H hook. The gray is acrylic, and the pink is a wool-acrylic blend, I believe that one is Knit Picks Mighty Stitch.
