- Done some editing. To shorten video. Need more practice but starting to get the hang of it so I can provide better content. also will have a harbor freaght jack review coming soon.
Dennis, my brother. I watched the whole video to see you wack out that stuck U joint and you cut out the most satisfying part! You just blue balled three guys watching the video. Glad you had better luck than us though.
I never had any trouble with u joints. Unless they were staked in like ford did to there f 150s then I would just buy a drive shaft.
I cannot get my shaft back in and your the only video I can find with cv on one end and u joint on the other. U joints replaced but can't wiggle shaft back in. How'd you do it?
The cv joint can pop out you will have to make sure you get it seated before you can reinstall the drive shaft. If that’s not the issue. Might want to check out a jeep forum. Online. Hope this helps I got lucky and didn’t have this issue. Just make sure you get the spline’s lined up properly and make sure the drive shaft is full seated in the transmission. If not it will cause the same issue. You can use a rubber hammer to do this. So you don’t cause any damage to the drive shaft and transmission. Thanks for the comment. If I find anything else out I will get back with you.
i thought you were doing the front also?
Sorry didn’t need to do the front. Or I would have thanks for the comment. If I have to do the front in the future I will do a video on it.
I can't get my u joint out took clips out beating on it like you did an penetrating oil too, using a hammer an socket, i just have Regular 18 oz hammer, do you think i need a bigger hammer an just hit it harder
I would try heating it up with a map gas or propane torch. Big the hammer would help. Or you can also use a vice.
Thanks for comment
@@RktsledTv ok, thanks for the reply, question, would a tie rod end puller work on it, pushing down on the cup, the 2 small hooks on the tool grab the round hole that the u joint cups go in? Haven't tried it yet but was wondering if it would work possibly, I have one of those
Did you try heating it I would try that first. Then use the hammer and socket. After you get the cap moving out you flip the dive shaft and then use the hammer on the U joint to push the other cap out. Once you get the caps moved out you should be able to remove the U joint. Then knock out the caps the rest of the way. Hope this helps I know they can be a pain.
@derrickpettit86 you can try it I never had to use one.
what size bolt you use to loosen the 4 caps
I will have to check. But I think it was a 10mm. Thanks for the comment
looks like 8mm
Thanks for the comment
Does it matter what year the jeep is ? I have a 2001 jeep grad Cherokee
I don’t believe so. 2000 and 2002 were the same they didn’t change much those years
Thanks for the comment
Man did u cheat and use heat?
You def left out what most ppl came for smh
No didn’t have to use heat. Think it was due to the needle bearings were missing and a lot of penetrating oil. Thanks for the comment.
