Yes, please continue validating my Urbanic 070s purchase. Haha. Had it for about a month now and it's been pretty great after aligning the burrs and doing the stepless mod. For the stepless mod, I had a hard time bending the teeth to get the little spring out. I ended up breaking a couple teeth off outright to do it, so it's kind of an irreversible mod now. I broke the bent tooth off too when I tried to bend it back into place. I also 3d-printed the single dosing hopper that jkim uploaded for the xeoleo (fits perfectly with no modifications) and designed/printed an adapter to use it with the insecticide bellows that you've used in previous videos. I don't really experience a lot of grind size drift even though I didn't even put in any tape. It happened once, but I basically just put the knob on tighter and made sure to screw it in snugly, and it stopped happening. Since the knob is very snug on the shaft, maybe a lot of the people experiencing the issue aren't pushing the knob far enough into place? You have to press pretty hard. My "Gevi" burrs literally just arrived yesterday. Can't wait to install and align them this weekend.
@@LanceHedrick Yeah, I'll give that a shot. Same here. I bought the 070s. After aligning the burrs and making it step-less its been absolutely amazing for the price. I've had good results for both espresso and pour over with it.
well Urbanic can be a pain in the butt to communicate with business wise. My wife (as she is Korean) tried several times to contact them to become a importer for Europe (or just my country) but they communicate so so slow. even when we called when we where in korea it was so difficult to contact them. so i can only imagine its worse for customers to get contact with them (or they only want the US market)
I’ll triple that, bought the 070s due to Lance’s budget grinder recommendation. I’ve had a slight issue with the knob slipping and will publish a video soon, but love the way the 070s falls into the catcher with no mess and no loss.
@@threehanded8853 Another vote for the 70s after Lance's video. I did the stepless mod on it and put maybe 4 or 5 wraps of plumbers tape around the threads and it totally solved any slipping issues! Also my bellows just arrived from alibaba - the aluminium cone shaped one that lance says is "okay" and he's right. It doesn't have a perfect fit which is slightly annoying, I'll see how well it works as a bellows shortly though!
Hi! Great video and I like your approach! But there is a problem the way you use the tachometer. The laser needs to read every turn of the axle spinning, so needs to be placed on the side pointing perpendicularly on the axle and the reflective strip needs also to be placed on the side so it reflects back the laser every time it aligns itself with it! Roughly speaking, since you kinda used it a bit on the side-ish you probably measured the frequency of the corners of the strip interrupting the laser.. this in theory must have given you 4x times the actually frequency. You mentioned 3290rpm so I estimate roughly this is 822.5rpm, which is still high when comparing with the others…
Hey Lance, following your last video on the Urbanic I decided to get one myself and ended up with the stepless 080 with Ali-express bellows. It has been a GREAT grinder for making espresso with my Pavoni Europiccola and taste-wise an improvement over the conical Comandante hand grinder. Unfortunately the Urbanic cost me around EUR 360 including shipping to Europe plus import duties with an additional 20 or so for the hopper. They even increased the price after I ordered mine. Again it's been a great grinder, no real complaints there but the DF64 can be had for EUR 420 iirc. If Urbanic priced their grinders more competitively they'd sell like hot cakes! Absolutely love your channel btw, keep up the good work!
I think a great option for most people is a hand grinder to compliment a nicer flat burr grinder. i know that manual grinding for espresso is not for everyone, but my 1zpresso jx-pro grinds 18g in just about 45 seconds. when i get a new bag of coffee i decide whether i like it better with the hand grinder or on my df64 with SSP burrs. i end up choosing the hand grinder about half the time, and have between 1-4 shots a day, then long periods where i dont use it at all. very rarely does it feel like a chore, and it saves - counterspace - maintenance time - coffee (no residual grounds) - money on an electric grinder of course, any time i feel like using the manual is a chore i just use the DF64 instead. its a win-win!
Hi Lance, the way the you have the tachometer set up on the Urbanic makes me wonder if it's reading accurately- from my experience, you want the reflective tape to rotate along a larger path, so it's only detected by the laser once every rotation. If it's on the front face near the center of rotation, the laser might not have a clear "on/off" detection signal and could trigger multiple times per rev, leading to higher RPM readings. That said, I don't know the actual RPM the Urbanic is advertised to spin at! Thanks for the videos!
So, valid. But it doesn't make a difference. I've read it just on the edge and where part was hitting it at all times. Same reading. Additionally, this is the standard rpm for these motors. So, it was pretty much dead on. Same with fuju royal 220, xeoleo, etc
@@LanceHedrick I noticed the laser on the edge as you mentioned, maybe it's correct. Either way, thanks for the videos and if nothing else I learned about a new affordable flat-burr grinder option today. Appreciate what you do
@@LanceHedrick What he means is that the tape is suppose to go at the edge of the burr itself. There should be a non-taped/taped surface between every rotation for the tachometer to read accurately.
Also of note on the 070s. I just got the first type of conical bellows and it's pretty powerful. I had started grinding directly into the portafilter of my cafelat robot and using the bellows absolutely blows the crap out of that and grounds go all over the place. Definitely use the taller catch cup instead!
@@Ma_Ba ooh! If you don't have them already, the weightman scales are cheap and good and fit nicely between the 96mm robot legs gap. The hands / mittens make it more comfortable to use and it's far easier to pull a shot if you lean over it.
@@joconnell Hey, so thanks, first of all. I went all in with the mit hands and have also silicone waffle pattern potholders for my own tender palms. Am going to station beneath me then, to use my body wt plus gravity, as per your advice! (Actually at the height of a "coffee table"!! lol here?) Wish they had given the spec of 96 mm in advance like you just did! I wasted a lot of time looking at scales. Don't know if $ for Timemore Nano is worth if for the auto start on timing a shot or if that spec size fits. So, went to your scale rec. (Cafelat's Paul __ seems to say that grind and preinfusion is more important than being fussy.)
Sette 30 w/ the 270 adjustment ring has been my ride or die daily driver and is a TANK with normal care. Fines and static aren’t an issue with a tiny Hoffman spray bottle. See you in Reddit!
Thanks for the video! Especially thanks for highlighting the available bellows for the Urbanic! I got the 070s based off your budget grinder showdown video. It was a huge upgrade for me, but the biggest downside has been the amount of retention. Do you know if you can purchase that sifter for the Urbanic anywhere?
Hi Lance, thanks for the great video! I'm about to replace my stock Urbanic burrs with the Gevi burrs you linked to, but the screwhead diameter for the original screws and burrs are quite a bit narrower than the space in the Gevi burrs; was that an issue for you, and if so did you find the right sized screws, or just tighten the originals carefully?
For anyone considering the Sette. Something I’ve noticed is that this video is not showing how loud it actually is it is louder than what you perceive on the video probably something to do with compression and not wanting to blow out the viewers eardrums from the perspective of a creator.
Big props for answering so many comments Lance. Could you try to measure RPM while the urbanic/xeoleo/fuji is actually grinding beans? It sure sounds like those kind of grinders slow down during grinding. Probably a bit tricky - but if you can get a reading on the auger before the last beans pass through the burrs that would be very interesting.
Yo Lance! Great work on this comparison. On the 7 do you often go in between letter on the micro adjustment dial or just stay on letters? How many seconds slower/faster for a letter jump in your experience? If I spray the beans I have practically 0 retention, would you still purge some beans in between adjustments? If so how many grams? Thank you!
If you buy Baratza their s2 coarse burr set with a plastic Sette 30 collar (about $50) you don't need a second grinder. This result is a very coarse grind. Because of the zero retention. You can do quick change and grind an espresso for your spouse, then switch collars and grind for a pour over or French press.
Great video Lance! I'm highly considering one of these flat bur grinders. Would you happen to have a video showing how to do the DC motor mod to lower the RPM's? Thanks a bunch! Cheers!
I've been using a Sette 30 for a couple of years now. Loud as heck but fortunately it's not that big of a deal. I like the reliability and repairability of Baratza's products. I didn't know anything about the Lesbrew billows for grinder retention. I just tapped on top of my grinder but that's about to change. Thanks for the video..
Hi Lance, thank you for the video! I just got the Urbanic and already ordered a Bellow in order to limit retention. Iro the rpm Speed and dimming possibilities, do you have any idea which dimmer type I have to use? Thanks in advance!
I’ve had a Virtuoso for 5+ years and a refurbed Sette 270 for 1.5 years and both are incredibly easy to maintain and fit all of my coffee needs. The 270 is definitely loud, but man it is awesome with my Flair Signature 👌
@@LanceHedrick it really does. And Baratza’s support is too notch. I just added a shim and it really gave me wayyyy more grinding headroom for all sorts of coffees. Anyways, great video as always Lance!!

But it didn't come with the little sifter that you showed and didnt see it on their website, any ideas while to find it, or what it's called? Thank you for the helpful videos.
Hi Lance! Is the Urbanic going to make a better job than my grinder that is integrated to my Breville Barista Express? Could it still do a good job when I'm ready to move to a prosumer machine? Thanks 😁
Been looking for a flat burr grinder without spending too much. I have the 270 currently so this may be the ideal pair to tread into that space. Thanks 🙌🏻
Hey Lance. Love the vid, thanks. Do you have a recommendation for a flat burr hand grinder? I’m a fan of hand grinders and use a k plus conical burr which I’m very happy with. Cheers.
I've gone for 1zpresso J-max and DF64 (still not here). Hand grinding isn't great but it is doable. I think hand grinder for conical is a pretty good option but in hindsight I'd recommend the JX pro instead or K pro if you want external adjustment and it is also known to be pretty decent for pour over so there's that. Magnetic catch cup is a nuisance. Just for interest sakes: In my country due to import taxes and other factors etc. (South Africa): Rancilio Rocky/Eureka Mignon Manuale = R6000 ($385) DF64 = 8500 ($550~, not always available though) Eureka Silenzio = 8500 ($550) Baratza Sette 270/wi = R10000 ($648~) / 12900 ($834~) Eureka Mignon Specialita = R11000 ($711~)
I have a sette 270, and a urbanic 070s with gevi burrs, very happy thus far. I am looking for the DC mod to lower rpm on urbanic, do you know where to get that? Thank you for your help on this coffee journey. Very helpful videos.
Hey! Should be a simple DC motor speed controller google search. I never ended up buying one, but I guess I should. I known it'll work. The speed router controller for the ac motors sort of works by lowering it a little bit, but you can get it much further down with DC controller.
Great stuff Lance. Appreciate the work you’re doing. At the Urbanic 080 price point is the Eureka Mignon Notte. I’m torn between these two flat burr grinders. The Urbanic has the burr upgrade availability with some modification, but the Eureka has the build quality and reliable name. Any opinions on these two?
@@LanceHedrick What's been your issue with them? I recently got one (Filtro, with the old espresso burrs, for $210), but I'm a relative n00b and wouldn't know the difference in taste, I'm pretty sure. They're all over r/espresso, but I've essentially never seen any of the big names (you, Spro, JHoff) mention them at all.
That's great! A bit higher price than these. I'll do a mid tier which will be niche and df64 ssp. Lagom mini im still waiting on updated burrs. I've heard of one that has already crapped out in 3 months. So, being careful with that rec for now
@@LanceHedrick Not faulting them doesn't mean I don't have reservations... The Lagom Mini is much lighter duty than the Niche Zero (which I used for 3 years), and I wonder about the industrial grease smell in the DF64 when you take the burrs out.
Great info! I was just looking online last night, trying to find a great low budget grinder. Do you have a favorite hand grinder for espresso, per chance?
For a decent budget conical Burr grinder I'll throw out a suggestion for the current KitchenAid Burr grinder. At around $200 it's a great deal. Comparable to the Breville Smart Dose. It includes a portafilter Holder and Hopper for filter. It's not to loud, little to no static, and low retention.
Great video as always Lance! I’d be more likely to recommend something like the DF64 for flat profiles, and the 1zpresso J-Max for conical profiles. If you’re willing to hand grind, I think that’s an excellent combo.
I should've been more clear- these are my budget recs that are electric lol. Df64 is more expensive because I would not recommend df64 unless you get the ssp burrs.
@@LanceHedrick Using a Made By Knock Feld 47 and just got a Cafelat Robot after 2 years of every non espresso brew method I learned of. Acting backwards because also AFTER getting JKim's WDT. I could ask Knock, but I don't even understand if it is conical or flat. I am so silly that I think it is conical because of it fitting into a cylinder. I fail spatial intelligence from 2D to 3D. Everyone else here will know. I bet all hand grinders are the same, so guessing conical?
Just looked into it, and it appears the Feld47 is a type of flat burr! Guess Knock has a proprietary design they’re using. This is 100% speculative, but I would think that you would still get something more similar to a conical profile than to a traditional flat profile.
I have the Urbanic 80, and use a stainless steel water glass as my dosing cup. I just smack it on the spout a few times to knock the extra grinds down, but would really like one of those bellows from singledosebrew. They don't really make it easy though, are they all the same size? It looks like they have several different versions for popular machines, but I can't tell which one is the one I need for my grinder. Any help appreciated pointing me to which one to get! I thought it was the one just marked "singledosebrew" with the number 1 beside it, but there's no purchase button on that page. I recall looking at these previously and being lost, so I just never bought it, and still just smack the spout in the meantime.
I went to the Les Brew website and saw several single dose bellows. Which would fit the Urbanica 070? Would the same bellows fit both the 070 and the 080? Thanks!
I've gotta ask, do you have a teleprompter or anything? You usually nail your information and I never see you looking away from the camera to check your "notes". lol 👏🔥
thanks again for an informative video. do you have a recommendation on how to recycle all the "used coffee" you go thru? thanks again peace from thailand.
When measuring the burr size for conicals, do you go by inner or outer? The inner burr of the Sette is 38mm, but I'm pretty sure the outer is larger. Not sure which is to be quoted when referring to conical burr size, but I suppose it is the smaller of the two.
Different companies do it differently. Baratza lists theirs as 40, so I say 40. There is no objective way to do it, sadly, though handgrinders definitely do it by the cone. I know loads of bigger cones do not
I currently have the Sette 270 next to my Lelit MaraX and the only thing I can complain about is the noise!! It’s sooo loud! What would be a good upgrade to the 270 cause I am thinking about buying a extra grinder for filter coffee or just a grinder to upgrade the 270 that can do bouth? I was thinking about maybe the Lagom Mini or the DF64 or is there something else I am overlooking?
Is there some experiment that could be run to determine which style of grinder you prefer? I have a conical burr grinder and have no experience with a flat burr grinder. I am in the market to upgrade my grinder (my current grinder can't do espresso), but only have counter space for one. I would hate to get a flat burr only to find out that I don't like it as much. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Interesting, I had no idea there was an alternate set of brew burrs available for the Sette. I broke a piece in my Virtuoso this month and tried to use the stock Sette for pour over while I waited for replacement parts. It was pretty terrible-absolutely wild amount of fines, I found it difficult to get any decent extractions. I switched to just espresso until I was able to repair my other grinder.
This + a nice hand grinder like JX Pro or C40 seems like the most econmical two grinder flat/conical setup, with the added benefit of lower cost and one grinder is portable for vacations. I want two, to have decaf dialed in.
Yeah. Hand grinders are super economical but for another video. Should've been more clear this was electric budget lol. I have a massive hands grinder video im working on
That was unexpected! Not sure if anyone else noticed, but at 11:10 when you add beans to the sette, the stepped grind setting shifts/moves and opens up a little.
my 2-3 months old Sette 270's micro adjustment plate automatically keep moving toward coarser end while grinding, google search shows other users also have this issue, currently i'm waiting for the response from the distributor where i bought it.
I’ve been looking for an upgrade for my encore for pour over coffee. Around the 300$ mark. I can’t bring myself to buy a fellow ode. Are there other great options or are the urbanic and ode the best options
@@LanceHedrick yea I’m looking for electric. I started with a hand grinder and ended up just taking it to work if I need a mid day coffee. But I drink the majority at home and prefer electric. I’m good upping my budget a bit, but I’m looking for a filter coffee focused. No espresso. A brew pro from eureka just seems too expensive for just filter
The lagom mini with 48mm obsidian burrs might be the perfect fit if only filter. Goes about 200 rpm, low power motor but don't need it for filter. Essentially same burr as 1zpresso k plus. 48mm
@@LanceHedrick would you say it makes better filter than the ode? At least in your experience. How would the DF64 compare as well. Normally when reviews come out they are always espresso focused. So I’m not sure how the df64 does in filter
At Minute 11:10 you can see that the Sette's grind size adjustment changes during grinding. This is no good, is this an issue that always happens when single dosing?
My Sette is notorious for changing grind settings once started. I just hold onto the little tab while grinding and that solves the problem. I think it’s the vibration of the motor.
I have an Ode with SSP and a Niche. I honestly don’t find the results to be dramatically different. Much less so than between my Lido OG and my Option-O Remi.
great video but it'd be cool to do the noise test with a db meter so we can see how loud they really are. I wouldn't be surprised if the Sette is around 90 dB.
Good tip. dB measurements are always helpful when performed the same way (meter same distance from grinder). The only caveat is that it doesn’t tell the whole story because I noticed I prefer devices with different pitches of sound, even if they don’t actually have lower dB levels.
Any mod tutorials for the DC motor controller? Also with the urbanic I've been having drifting when dialed in for drip. I've been using electric tape but its not super effective.
My tongue being undefeated in every blind taste test people have put on me. And thousands of others lol. In all seriousness, you can look at any of a slew of particle distribution graphs to see the vastly diff3rent distributions the two offer. That suggests an objective difference.
@@LanceHedrick tnx for explaining but I mean is there any paper that suggests the way the beans crush and cut and also different geometry of the particles can affect the extraction of the acids and sugars therefore different taste perspective? is there any non human sensory proof that different geometry can create different profile?
Correct. 👍🏻
Thank you Lance! Now we must just add magnet modifications 😎
Hahaha you know what's up
FYI with a brushless DC motor you can lower the speed without lowering the torque as you would with an AC motor on a router control or dimmer.
Great vid as usual Lance! Recently pulled the trigger on the Eureka Mignon Notte, but boy do I love the look of the Urbanic.
Nice! I've had issues with the construction of eureka grinders. They tend to be retention beasts haha. But I hope you like it!
I think a great option for most people is a hand grinder to compliment a nicer flat burr grinder. i know that manual grinding for espresso is not for everyone, but my 1zpresso jx-pro grinds 18g in just about 45 seconds. when i get a new bag of coffee i decide whether i like it better with the hand grinder or on my df64 with SSP burrs. i end up choosing the hand grinder about half the time, and have between 1-4 shots a day, then long periods where i dont use it at all. very rarely does it feel like a chore, and it saves
- counterspace
- maintenance time
- coffee (no residual grounds)
- money on an electric grinder
of course, any time i feel like using the manual is a chore i just use the DF64 instead. its a win-win!
I was thinking the same thing. Figured someone would point it out in the comments.
@@malihuz Or on the shaft, as a long thin white piece so it reflects once per revolution
Great video! I’m wondering… which one will you prefer for pour over: Urbanic or Fellow Ode?
Also of note on the 070s. I just got the first type of conical bellows and it's pretty powerful. I had started grinding directly into the portafilter of my cafelat robot and using the bellows absolutely blows the crap out of that and grounds go all over the place. Definitely use the taller catch cup instead!
Good advice! Thank you for contributing!
Thanks, as I just got my Cafelat Robot and have just to unbox it even! I don't have these grinders though I am taking advice here.
PS Foregoing motors and boilers seems to have been the leap ahead on entry level costs that I needed for grinder and espresso.
> Big props for answering so many comments Lance.
Lance doesn't respond 👁👄👁
Which would you pick, Urbanic 080 or DF64? Shipping cost aside, they're very similarly priced.
Same question

same here 😅
Great video Lance! I'm highly considering one of these flat bur grinders. Would you happen to have a video showing how to do the DC motor mod to lower the RPM's? Thanks a bunch! Cheers!
I do not. Yet. Lol I'm sure I'll do one in the future
I second this!!! Please do a video demonstrating how this can be done!
Have you thought about modding it to 270 steps? BaratA sells the upgrade kit. Unlocks loads of new grind size options
@@LanceHedrick I’ll look into that.. thanks.
It does great with a flair! Great brand
@@LanceHedrick it really does. And Baratza’s support is too notch. I just added a shim and it really gave me wayyyy more grinding headroom for all sorts of coffees. Anyways, great video as always Lance!!
After watching your budget grinder video been wanting the urbanic 070s but held or for months then finally went for it, it arrived last week and got it aligned and its night and day difference my crappy 50$ conic grinder, love it! But it didn't come with the little sifter that you showed and didnt see it on their website, any ideas while to find it, or what it's called? Thank you for the helpful videos.
Hey! They are available on aliexpress. Akira koki makes them mostly so that should help narrow the search. Will add a link when back to my computer
@@LanceHedrick Awesome! Thank you for the help. Alot easier then googling something like "urbanic sifter cup" haha
Hey Lance! Great video! Have you tried the 1zpresso Y3 manual espresso maker? Thanks!
I giggled when you almost forgot to remove the tape before reassembly. :-)
Thanks 🙌🏻
This or the DF64 are both great options. You have more room to grow with df64 but it's an initially higher cost
Hey Lance. Love the vid, thanks. Do you have a recommendation for a flat burr hand grinder? I’m a fan of hand grinders and use a k plus conical burr which I’m very happy with. Cheers.
Im.not familiar with any current in production. NOT saying they aren't there- I'm just unaware
@@LanceHedrick No worries, thanks.
Just for interest sakes:
In my country due to import taxes and other factors etc. (South Africa):
Rancilio Rocky/Eureka Mignon Manuale = R6000 ($385)
DF64 = 8500 ($550~, not always available though)
Eureka Silenzio = 8500 ($550)
Baratza Sette 270/wi = R10000 ($648~) / 12900 ($834~)
Eureka Mignon Specialita = R11000 ($711~)
I have a sette 270, and a urbanic 070s with gevi burrs, very happy thus far. I am looking for the DC mod to lower rpm on urbanic, do you know where to get that? Thank you for your help on this coffee journey. Very helpful videos.
I do want to slow the rpm down a bit on the urbanic, any recommendation on a part that would work. Thanks again for any help.
I personally haven't loved the eureka grinders I've used, yet.
Hey Lance, so the best to do espresso and filter V60 coffee is the urbanic ? Do u sell yours? 😇
Thank you ❤very helpful
Awesome video! I am curious now, is there a flat burr grinder that's great and small? I'm looking for one to pair with my Lagom Mini.
None that small, no. 🥲
Does the Baratza 270 still have issues with plastic internals? Such a nice grinder and I hear they have great support, but have heard a few complaints
DF64 + Lagom Mini is my current combo and I cannot fault either of them.
Love it Lance!
Thank you!
Great content Lance
I really appreciate it!
Awesome video Lance. If I once decide to go with an electric grinder, I think I'd choose between this Urbanic and the Option-o Mini.
Yeah the option o mini is interesting. Hard to fully endorse with the motor issues I experienced. But they're sending me a replacement.
Great info!
I was just looking online last night, trying to find a great low budget grinder.
Do you have a favorite hand grinder for espresso, per chance?
Kinu m47 for sure

I just checked into those online. There are 2 variants... the Phoenix and Classic.
Which one do you use?
For a decent budget conical Burr grinder I'll throw out a suggestion for the current KitchenAid Burr grinder. At around $200 it's a great deal. Comparable to the Breville Smart Dose. It includes a portafilter Holder and Hopper for filter. It's not to loud, little to no static, and low retention.
Oh nice! Will check out. One doesn't often consider kitchenaid so thanks!
Flat burr grinders require too high of RPM to be used in hand grinders, so if you have a hand grinder it’s probably a conical burr.
Just looked into it, and it appears the Feld47 is a type of flat burr! Guess Knock has a proprietary design they’re using.
This is 100% speculative, but I would think that you would still get something more similar to a conical profile than to a traditional flat profile.
@@Andrew-wp1bzInteresting turns.
Have you reviewed anything in the budget category that DOES do a good job for filter coffee?
Good stuff. Can you show or point me in the direction of how to add variable controller to the urbanic? Thanks
I went to the Les Brew website and saw several single dose bellows. Which would fit the Urbanica 070? Would the same bellows fit both the 070 and the 080? Thanks!
I've gotta ask, do you have a teleprompter or anything? You usually nail your information and I never see you looking away from the camera to check your "notes". lol 👏🔥
Ha! No I do not. I have a pretty good memory after reading something. Thanks for the kind words lol
thanks again for an informative video. do you have a recommendation on how to recycle all the "used coffee" you go thru? thanks again peace from thailand.
Yeah! Can use for compost or for your yard if you have pest issues or a lot of other ways you can Google!
I know loads of bigger cones do not
@@LanceHedrick Got it, and thanks! Appreciate the video and your reply. Keep doin what you're doin.

They definitely are. I agree with you taking your time. Big commitment
Can you manipulat the RPM of the DF64 with the controller you just showed?
_It has a fix 1400 RPM, but not brushless motor, so I'm theory, yes._
Thanks Lance.
Yes!
I'm looking for your definitive Basket showdown video on the BDB, where do I find that? Probably next week?
Interesting, I had no idea there was an alternate set of brew burrs available for the Sette. I broke a piece in my Virtuoso this month and tried to use the stock Sette for pour over while I waited for replacement parts. It was pretty terrible-absolutely wild amount of fines, I found it difficult to get any decent extractions. I switched to just espresso until I was able to repair my other grinder.
Can you just get a hand grinder and a flat (like the df64) to save even more money?
would like to know which one do you prefer, the urbanic 070 or akirakoki 520 with scarlet burrs.
I have a massive hands grinder video im working on
Also, the urbonic is the same price as the ode . Are you saying you'd take this over the ode ?
For all around (espresso and filter)? Yes. Because the motor is twice as powerful.
Hi Lance. Are you going to be reviewing the new Encore ESP?
I mean. Let's be real. If it's a grinder, im.trying to get my dirty hands on it
i personally love my 30 with the upgrades for 270!
Yes! That's why I have the 30 in the caption. Same thing when you upgrade. And cheaper
That was unexpected! Not sure if anyone else noticed, but at 11:10 when you add beans to the sette, the stepped grind setting shifts/moves and opens up a little.
This is an old sette. I didn't notice but wouldn't be surprised.
my 2-3 months old Sette 270's micro adjustment plate automatically keep moving toward coarser end while grinding, google search shows other users also have this issue, currently i'm waiting for the response from the distributor where i bought it.

Hey guys, any idea on where to get a Sette 30 in Portugal other than at CremaShop?
Where did you get the grounds catcher with sieve? I thought you said at the Urbanic site but I didn’t see any there. Thanks
Ah sorry. It looks like they no longer come with them. You can get them for cheap on aliexpress
The results of ode ssp and niche? You don't see a difference?!
How do the Remi and OG compare?
Hi Lance, for the Urbanic 070s in your previous video you mentioned the rpm is around 2600, is that about true?
Somewhere between 2600 and 3000, yeah.
I went with the Baratza Encore with the Ascaso i1. I think that's a good combo
Hey Lance! How would you compare the Sette 30 and the 1zpresso K-Plus ?
Specifically for flair espresso ? 👀
Kinu m47 lol
Kplus is my favorite all around hand grinder. But kinu is best for espresso hands down
great video but it'd be cool to do the noise test with a db meter so we can see how loud they really are. I wouldn't be surprised if the Sette is around 90 dB.
That's a good idea. I can download an app or something. Always trying to improve so thank you for the suggestion!
Good tip. dB measurements are always helpful when performed the same way (meter same distance from grinder).
How many wraps around did you do? I've heard some do 3-4 wraps for it to be effective.
And not electrical tape- plumbers tape (the threaded looking tape plumbers use for pipes)

is there any reference that suggests "in general" flat burrs produce brighter cups and conical burrs have more body and heavy sweet notes?
My tongue being undefeated in every blind taste test people have put on me. And thousands of others lol.
In all seriousness, you can look at any of a slew of particle distribution graphs to see the vastly diff3rent distributions the two offer. That suggests an objective difference.
@@LanceHedrick tnx for explaining but I mean is there any paper that suggests the way the beans crush and cut and also different geometry of the particles can affect the extraction of the acids and sugars therefore different taste perspective?
