This will be my third year making Chris’s sweet potato pie. They are so good. I’m making 3 pies today. One pie will be for this weekend and the other two will be in the freezer for Thanksgiving. Thanks Chris, you’re the best cook on RUclips as far as I am concerned.

Thank you for always coming with traditional southern recipes. My Grandmother had a stroke and is no longer able to prepare these type of recipes. I took for granted the opportunity to learn from her. Have the option of viewing your video I am now able to present wonderful tasting meals, with the southern charm my family loves❣️

My mom used to cook like you do. Were from KY. I miss her cooking but try to carry on her traditions. We called it home cooking but CA calls it soul food. But still not the same. You inspire me. Even though kids are grown and do holidays with their spouses families I still make something special for my husband. This year it's your sweet potato pie. I'll think about you as I make it

I had never baked a thing in life however, this past Easter, my brother said he wanted a sweet potato pie and I volunteered to make him one.
I had my Bluetooth in my ear and did just what you did in this video. I thank you so much. I truly appreciate the time you put in to guiding your newer cooks.

This is the most authentic Black Southern Sweet Potato Pie recipe there is! I use this one and this is how my mother, who was a caterer baked her pies to the letter! No substitutions. It turns out incredible EVERY TIME! and it is not dark from too much seasoning. I saw my mom use Egg Nog once when she didn't have enough milk on hand and it has everything in it that you need as well. Well done! Chris Cook

Out of all the baking videos I've seen, you're the only one I've seen who breaks the eggs into a separate container before adding to batter 1st in case something could be wrong w/one of them. I'm really surprised that every baker/cook doesn't do/show that. I have for as long as I can remember whether baking with eggs, scrambling them, anytime I'm using raw eggs. Thank you!

I enjoy every thing in the video. I liked the way you explained everything as you went along especially the part of removing those annoying strings in the potatoes. The pie look and I believe you when you say taste good. Mouth watering now. Can you comment on this for me what I’m to say I’m trying to watch my intake of salt and sugar. I would still like to enjoy some good cooking at the same time. Thank you for taken the time out busy to share you delicious 👀 . I learned about things I didn’t how to on own. I find it a little intimidating though because I’m not as good at baking as I want to be. I’m willing try after watching you. Again thank you.

wow you cook with love! this will be the first year I do sweet potato pies and I have been looking for days and your recipe is by far the best. first one I have found that uses lemon extract. I cannot wait to make these I just hope my kids will try them. I just finally got them to eat pumpkin pies last year. God Bless you Miss Chris!

Thank u for being detailed out of all the videos i watched u are the only that mentioned how the pies should look after being baked. I baked 2 pies and one of them had 2 small cracks but the other pie was smooth. I will give the cracked one to my grown kids. 😅

Chris, I just enjoyed the most heavenly piece of sweet potato pie...and I followed your recipe almost exactly! I put it in a graham cracker crust. Oh my goodness. The flavor and texture of your pie and the technique of getting the strings out - genius! I added a pinch of cloves, a squeeze of lemon in addition to the lemon extract and a few tablespoons of maple syrup instead of that extra 1/4 cup of sugar you add in this video. This is so much better than pumpkin pie. Thank you for sharing it!

I am truly happy you enjoyed the pie. I also like the changes you made. It sounds like it would be great. I am going to try it your way for JULY 4th. I’ll let you know the outcome. Thanks for sharing the changes.

Should the pie crusts be defrosted when filled and baked?
