The warriors of the dead always hits to wound against the enemy courage not to the enemy defend
Yeah this is a really important rule, especially in this situation when they should be wounding on 4s!
And the King of the Dead gets Harbringer of Evil and drops Courage by one in a bubble around him... could have been even easier
The same thing i thought while watching the report. the Dead probably would have won, I think
Yeh the dead would’ve probably won if they’d been using the blades of the dead rules. Had a game today where they absolutely chewed through some maranon orcs.
Really getting into this game. Such a shame that the Dunharrow wounding against defence was missed as it is absolutely their biggest rule and really throws this whole batrep off balance, unfortunately.
Yeah it's what makes them worth their points actually.
I'm glad to see LotR get more screen time, but Owen really has to brush up on his knowledge of the game if he ever intends to win a round. The dead wound against courage instead of defense, which is to say they'd be rolling to wound against 3 instead of 5 for uruks. The king of the dead also reduces courage value by -1 in a 12" radius around him, which makes an even bigger difference on those terror checks.
Few things wrong here Ash, for you to charge 2 models, you need to pass a courage test twice as you're charging into another model. The one courage check allows you to charge one model. Also, king of the dead has harbinger of evil, reduces your courage by 1 within 12 or 18 inches, and further, the dead strike against courage, not defence value. Isenguard also breaks at 50% but you just dont need to take the courage check until 66%. So VP's would still have been scored once 50% was lost for Isenguard.

Great battle report guys! Nice to see LOTR especially with new books and minis from GW coming out! the army of the dead have a couple special rules called spectral blades and also the king of the dead causes -1 to enemy courage within a certain radius so charging them makes it even more difficult, happy gaming!
A good old new game of middle earth awesome stuff ash.
blades of the dead always wound against courage, so the warriors of the dead kill uruks on 4s. additionally, blades of the dead supercedes modeled weapons except for spears. meaning it does not matter if they have a sword or mace.
Min 20:00 an up, its is amazing the amount of six that the boy from Isengard can roll is incredible. I mean, he goes beyond the odds and with just two dice, additionally, all the terror checks he passed, that is, he only failed as much as 4. I really mean Playing like this is very frustrating, that boy should win all the tournaments in his area. hehehe with those blessed dice.

Guys please play with the official rules, you forgot the speicial rule blades of the death and the army bonus harbinger of evil for the king of the dead! With this the army of the dead would slaughter the Uruk-Hai!
Good to see, my good army has always been the army of the dead. And I was curious how it worked out in the new edition. I love the rule that allows you to have more than one warband of them with just the king.

I enjoyed watching your game. My understanding for the Uruk-hai is the break point remains unchanged but they do not need to make courage tests until at least 66%.

@@ottoc5307 if you look carefully the talk guy with the dark hair is missing his left leg and has done for several years. This kind gentleman has offered to send him one of his instead though I hope they are both the same height otherwise it might make him a but imbalanced. Still though it's very kind of him.

Seems like it could be a interesting game to get into but boy does it seem overly grindy.
It's very true when there arent many powerful heroes involved. As soon as the big names get involved it"s quicker!
Also, having watched further, there were some key rules missed that would have made it super easy for the dead to chop through the uruks!
That's specially the case with the Deads of Dundarrow and dwarves. It's not remotely so with elves, humans or orcs.
