I am always so amazed at the diversity of adventures you have around your passion in Mudlarking.
Rivers, beaches, fields, canals, hovercraft, gold paning, craft projects, history researching....and so much more.
Lovely to see Sean again too.
Thanks Si. So appreciate you and your videos.
Thanks so much LL 👍🏻🐾🧡
Gotta look for the black sand - more likely to find gold in it. My family and I used to go panning for gold on the Stanislaus River in California.
One of my great great grandfathers went went looking for gold in the Australian gold rush. All he got was sandy blight which was eye damage from the sand blowing in your eyes! Lol 😄❤️❤️
Oh no 🙈
Great video! Dropped a sub, look forward to next one
Cheers for the sub! 👍🏻🐾🧡
My great-great grandfather went to Sutter's Mill in 1848, just before the big gold rush (so technically not a 49er). He found gold panning dull and tedious, so he went down to San Diego and bought horses for $1 each and drove them back up to the San Francisco area and sold them for $100 each. Travelling and horse riding was his way to relax (he became wealthy and headed back to England to get his parents and move them to the US)
Wow what an entrepreneur! Thanks for sharing 👍🏻🐾🧡
Have horses got steering wheels?
@@gdfggggg don’t be pedantic 😂
@@Sifinds it was there for the taking.
Smart man!
🤩 Congrats boys!!! Looking forward to next year’s vid already! Disappointed by the lack of gold dances but I’ll let you off after all that walking.
I hate midges too. I was up in the woods the other day and they were EVERYWHERE, after frantically flapping my arms about didn’t work I yelled “f*** off!” so loud all the cows started mooing in the near by field 🤣
Edit: In case you’re wondering, shouting obscenities at the midges didn’t work either.
Haha! The only way to get rid of them is to walk away quickly, I was literally walking around in circles at some points 😂
The videography just gets better and better! That drone work, showing the depth and winding of the burns is just amazing, and juxtaposed with the close-ups of nature, and the underwater views: this is art!
Also, if I ever want to show someone just what 'cheeky' means, I'll point them to you two in this video. Thanks so much for taking us along; we got to both see the beauty, and avoid the midges!
Cheers Paul! Really appreciate that mate. Maybe that why I found less, sitting in my directors chair rather than hunting!
@@Sifinds Could be. If so, I certainly think it was worth it. But, then, I don't have Gold Fever.
The expression “ how much can you raise in a pinch? “ harkens back to the California gold rush.
Miners would come in to a saloon for a drink with only gold dust to pay with. The saloons liked to hire bartenders with fat fingers, so when they pinched up some gold dust for the whiskey, they would get more than someone with small fingers.
Beer glasses are wider at the top to accommodate more foam. Foam is only 25%, so more foam, more profit.
Cool facts! Thanks for sharing! 👍🏻🐾🧡

Beautiful scenery, cute hats, wonderful sounds, flakes and clinker's, everything great but the midges!!! Thanks Si.
Cheers Debs! Yeah there’s always something to test one’s patience. But that’s life 👍🏻🐾🧡
Welcome back to Scotland. Apart from the midges (baskets as you called them!) I love it here just now with the Heather looking so beautiful on the hills. So glad you’re showing just how bad it gets with them up here though. 🤪🦟
Yes the scenery and nature is stunning 😍
Great adventure but can’t imagine how you guys lived through all the midges - I’d have gone back to the camper. Gold fever will make you endure most anything. Glad you found enough to make it fun.
Cheers Jo! Thankfully they weren’t out all the time otherwise I think I would. We were debating pulling off Sean’s net curtains at one point. Haha
What fun, Si. Btw mica is pronounced my ca, not me ca. Thought you'd like to know that. Lol
You say tomato 😂
I say potato!
You could be Britain's version of Dan Hurd. "It's a Picker"
What a legend 👍🏻🐾🧡
I think Dan would be jealous of a few of those pans.
Sounds like Sean’s finding it hard to pick up the pieces after the sad loss of his favourite tweezers 😲🍻
Haha! He was really plucked off
What another brilliant trip to Scotland. A little more successful than last time if I remember rightly, a little better weather too but those midges!! You're a trooper Si, putting up with those for our entertainment. Thanks for sharing your brilliant adventure 😊 absolutely love the heart pyrite. I collect a heart shaped rock everywhere I go if I'm allowed to take 1. My front garden is full of family memories with all the pebbles and rocks
Aw what a great idea for a collection. Yes we did MUCH better than last time, thank goodness
Hmmm -- would you trust a man wearing only rubber overalls who says, "Not a sausage...." 🙂
😂
Stunning footage. Loved it all, but dang those beasties! There must be a way to rig a hat with full-face netting, perhaps spray it with DEET? Troopers, you were.
Cheers Debra. They do sell face coverings which we will definitely take next time 👍🏻🐾🧡
Hello from Denmark 🇩🇰😊
Alright Linda! 👍🏻🐾🧡
So glad you didn't lose any equipment this year. Look liked an amazing time & lots of work & fun. I am thinking in the future you need a van like Sean has....lol
Well some tweezers and a scoop tried to get away but both were recovered. 😂 I’d love a campervan, maybe one day…
Hi 👋 awesome video with lots of lovely small rather tiny gold nuggets. Superb crafting of key chain ⛓ 👌 👏
With love from SAM
Guwahati, Assam, India 🇮🇳 ♥ 🙏 🤝
Cheers Sam! Keep on running 🏃🏿♂️
@@Sifinds I have a run on 14th on Highway Express 88 km
Awesome video. Your closes up of the flora/fauna are beautiful. Glad you had some success. Must feel exciting when you scoop the clangers and flakes. It all adds up! 👑 of adventures!
Cheers Lois, spot on, it hard to believe it’s sitting there waiting to be found!
Não fazia ideia que na Escócia também existisse essa praga de mosquitinho que pica orelhas! Me desculpe se não for isso, mas pelo que entendi. Parabéns pelo ouro! Abraços do interior do Brasil!
Yes they do bite! Horrible things 👍🏻🐾🧡
Si you have a midge in your teeth... LOL!
I probably did, they were insufferable! 🐜
Si I have always watched you. I just never comment. I just have to tell you how much I loved this video. Countryside is so beautiful and you are a real trooper fighting those midges. Love from the state of Missouri USA.
Looks like what we call "fools gold " here in the states. Lovely countryside and beautiful photography.
Na it was real
Iron pyrite dosent look like that, you need to look again, it might just be real!?
If you get enough flakes you can mix them with turquoise flakes and epoxy and make a great looking ring .
Great shout!
Good idea 👍🏻
Killer midges or killer midgets...which one is worse...
Midget, because they would probably aim for your nuts 😂
loved the funky music. perhaps you can start a group "Men that Muck"
Luck n’ funk 🎶
Looks like a fun trip with more success than last year. At least you actually found some gold this time without losing most of your equipment. Well done! Congratulations on the big flake!
.
Cheers Karen! In half the time too 👍🏻🧡🐾
Ahh -- I see that you saw some of the rare Borderlands camels!!!
Haha yes! 🐫 🐫
Cool video and beautiful countryside ! Much love from Louisiana ❤️❤️
So which one of you was Cissie and which one was Ada when you had the cloths on your head? Assuming you remember Les Dawson and Roy Barraclough as those characters. 🤣 Poor you being the cart horse lugging everything. Well done on your finds. Amazing! Still think Shaun’s bus is awesome!
Cheers Lexie. I remember Les but not that sketch, might look it up 👍🏻 Glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻🐾🧡
Your bit of 'silver' is probably gold covered in mercury.
How so?
@@Sifinds it's an old fashioned gold recovery technique that has been used for thousands of years
Lovely to see the hills and greeny of scotland have not been up there for years, looked an enjoyable time and the river keeps giving
Cheers Kim! 👍🏻🐾🧡
How Beautiful the scenery!!! Very relaxing.
Cheers Linda 👍🏻🐾🧡
Time for the medal detector..?
I did about 10 minutes but reverted back to the methods shown 👍🏻🧡🐾
You always surprise me Si. Gold lives in beautiful places and the burns of Scotland do not disappoint.
It’s a stunning place to go to
For midges - get a brimmed hat and a head-net. Game changer...
I love this content, and the sacrifice of the two of you dealing with all those midges!! The slog there and back is that 'cos you can't drive or camp closer to available sites? Or sites not overrun with people? Hope you do this journey again. Thank you!
Cheers Leesa! Yes no parking near the spot, a hike it is. Glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻🐾🧡
Midges: What do they eat when they can't get mudlarkers?
Yeah I was wondering that. Maybe we are an easy meal? Haha
Great fun guys! Sorry about our dreaded midges. If it makes you feel any better, they bite us locals too. The nets are the best protection, so make sure you bring a few next year. Well done on getting your clanger!! 😁🥇🏆
Very nice place!!!!and very nice expèrience!!!!!!🙂👍
Cheers Laurent 👍🏻🐾🧡
a hard way to make a living Si!
We’re not there to make a living 😂 That’s what my 9-5 is for, this is adventure and being outside with nature
Nice van.
Right!
Great job sean
Excellent was fun.👍🌞🍁🇨🇦
Cheers Marion! 👍🏻🐾🧡
Better you than me - even with the gold!! 😬🤣 Glad you found some, plus the biggest piece. 😁 Nice job on the Pyrite heart. 😍 See you next time, Simon. 😊👍
Cheers Noralee, it’s not for the faint-hearted 👍🏻🐾🧡
Thanks for the trip 👣🧡
My pleasure Essie 👍🏻🐾🧡
Thank you Si and Sean. Fantastic video. Yikes the midges.
Cheers LS! If the midges don’t get ya, the spiders will! 😂
Oh no, 😳, it fell. I am hoping you find some more. Scotland is beautiful and you enjoy a wonderful, profitable getaway. OMG, those midges are horrible, and you have short sleeves on . 13 is Sean’s lucky number. That pyrite heart is lovely. Yes, that flake looks like a chicken lol. Oh my, the upcycle on the heart is gorgeous.
Cheers Coni! Not profitable from a monetary side, but definitely great memories were earned 😉
Howdy boys , Use your pans to find the gold and use your sluice to mine the gold . Use your quarter inch screen on top of your buckets , filled with water , and then feed your sluice w/that material . It will blow your minds how much more material you can run in a day rather than panning . You can pan once in a while to make sure you`re still digging good , gold bearing material . If you want to learn a lot without the back strain , Visit Ask Jeff Williams and Two Toes on RUclips . These two channels are jam packed with how to videos . including how to set up and run your sluice for maximum gold recovery . Yes , just look back through their How To videos and you will find a wealth of experience to get you guys on the right track . These guys are pretty funny too. Best of luck . fire up that sluice box , They will show you proper set-up and how to do a proper clean-out w/o losing any gold . You guys found a good spot in this episode . Get up to speed on your sluicing and go back to that area and knock `em dead . Happy Days
Cheers Michael, we were worried we might lose some out of the sluice
Scotland and gold prospecting both of these on my bucket list, so envious looks like a great getaway was had ❤️
Well done guys, you were close to the spot, or at least you were getting hotter.
Ohh Scotland, my ancestors hailed from Montrose mostly, even had a few Earls, marquess and viscounts in the Graham clan 😆
Great video as always Si, I like seeing the other places you enjoy going to!
Cheers Tiffy! I had my DNA result back the other day! No spoilers tho 😉
*_Thar be Gold Mateys._*
Can’t wait til next years show 👍👍
Me neither!
Looking forward to seeing it 😊
Enjoyed that. Flame thrower for midges 👍🏻
Great idea!! Next time I’m bringing aerosol and a lighter!
@@Sifinds lynx deodorant works a treat. Can smell nice too 👍🏻
Love that you guys get so excited for a flake of gold ! Here's to many more " klangers " for you both !⛏️💰
Cheers, well that’s what we’re there for. It’s be weird getting excited over a sausage 😂
What a beautiful place for an adventure! Loved the camera/drone work, Si! Congratulations on your finds, guys!
Cheers Cindy!! 👍🏻🐾🧡
I love the filming style you have. So much effort and time into the editing.

Grate video guys Scottish gold is amazing you will be surprised you can find gold in the flood gravels
Cheers pal. Yes we found a few flecks, but wasn’t enough really
@@Sifinds you carnt complain with that there not many places in the uk with good gold most was found in the English gold rush 😉
The Two Babushkas...LOL
Haha!!
Si, how much do you think the gold you found is worth? Just wondering.
Not much. Values are online, but it’s not about the £££ for us, if it was we wouldn’t do it. It’s about adventure, friendship and battling the elements 👍🏻🐾🧡
Thank you! What a fun episode! You blessing the trees with your wand trying to clear your path of spidy webs had me rolling! Again thank you for the vid and good laughes!!
Lol. Cheers T. Much love 👍🏻🐾🧡
Congrats on the clankers guys!👍👍 Who won for 'most midges swallowed'? 😆 Great vid as usual Si 🥰 Oh~ you guys know Fleur n Kate, Kit n Caboodlers, check out the piece of flint Kate found, love to hear Sean's take on it, learned a lot from the flint vid, I think he'd be impressed! You'll think its really cool too Si!
Love the van and adore you are in Scotland i live here and i must say it is rather fab cant believe how much i am enjoying your videos .. kind regards Karen.
Cheers Karen! 👍🏻🐾🧡
@@Sifinds very welcome :)
I live here too next to a gold river in southern goldfiield one good spot for gold nuggets is in Deeside in Barmoral estate but the get very stroppy with people going into estate. better try closer spot West water but avoid the gamekeeper.
Hi Si, loving yr work. I live in Australia and we know MIDGEES, we call them sandflies in the east of Oz and midgees in the west. BEST THING TO KEEP THEM OFF YOU and it 100% works.
You'll need Baby oil and a disinfectant called Detol. I think any oil would do but we've always use B oil. Anywho mix together 50/50 and rub it on yr skin. Youll thank me later lol. Love from Australia ✌🌻😊
Glad to see you back in Scotland, well done with your panning,if you were panning for midgies you would not have been able to carry them 😀
Haha. Midge soup anyone?
Si..you should go gold hunting in Western Australia or in Victoria, Australia...because Cadbury has bigger Flakes then what you two found 🤣🤣🤣🤣 nice area though, beautiful Scotland 🏴
Would a metal detector give you a signal for a tiny gold flake? I'm thinking "No".
Yes, but you have to be right on top of it
Scotland is lovely..and the river! 😍So envying you right now..hahaha!! I'm *always* dropping stuff too and actually held my breath when Sean had that clanger on his fingertip. Nice, fun adventure 😀! Loved it!
Cheers Petri! 👍🏻🐾🧡
Oi...drop your pan upside down...crikey the butterfly was sent by the fairy folk to watch both of you 🤙🏽🏴
There is a beachGold Beach close to the Oregon California border .The sand is black and yes gold flakes in it. Hundred years ago I think i
That is bloudy good guys. Gold prospecting is a lifelong interest. And this is good amount 🙌👌👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
The lengths you go to, to entertain us! Great episode, thank you, as always!
Cheers Anne 👍🏻🐾🧡
Dude... I love your channel but DAMN!! This was painful to watch... those sniping tools are for cracks in the bedrock.. I see beautiful bedrock all around you and you're digging in the float rock... with the gold you found in the float, there was grams waiting in the slots of the bedrock!!
You need to watch "pioneer Pauly " or Dan Hurd prospecting on RUclips!!
Love the bus, such a lux for a trip… great video . Just a tip : use Fern as spiderweb remover, Pick i couple of branches, and just hold them in front of you, they are so much wider 😀
Please can anyone help me with mud larking, gold prospecting groups in Scotland. Highlands I'm hooked. Also my 8 year old son. Any help much appreciated. 👍
Looks fu
Nice butterfly music. There are many gold hunters in Calif who find much smaller flakes. Fine job, thats good gold Si and pal! Frodo and Samwise you are, there in the midgewater!
As an American, I wanted to offer my deepest condolences to you and your subscribers upon the death of your (and my) beloved Queen Elizabeth. Rest in Peace dear Lady. The world will never again see your like.
Did you get some more YFOODS drinks, I have had several, due to not being able to eat.
Yes I often have them. They are great. Hope your health improves 👍🏻🐾🧡
Oh my! so tiny, mini flakes, I was expecting much bigger, but what do I know? looks interesting and the views are stunning.
Fun
That flake of gold you dropped was probably the only flake of gold within 100 kilometers, and you found it! You would have been better off buying a lottery ticket!
It’s so beautiful there. Well except for the
Midges! Yuck! Looks like you had a lot of fun. Thanks for sharing!
For your next visit, invest in Avon skin-so-soft dry oil spray in the original smell. It repels midges! (So I’m told, they don’t bite me anyway, so I don’t need it 😋)
Not quite a clang .. but a plop / thud. :D My dear dad was a gold miner here in Canada after being a coal miner in Lancs. (Wigan / Leigh area). After blasting in an area with plenty of visible gold, he would tell us that it's hard to sit on and you can't eat it for lunch. lol .. he did have a sense of humour.
Wow! That’s a tough job!
I’m sure that’s not my thing but you two did great!! ✨
Love the heart! 💙💜💖💙
To the Midges, those were MASSIVE gold nuggets!😉👍BTW Midge or not, with the price of gold what it is today per gram, you both did excellent!👌🤙💯👏👏
For Ruby/sapphire/garnet find you need a screen with tightness to sludge which is way more useful than a pan. Get a screen and sludge mud/dirt from a hillside in a stream and I bet you find rubies, sapphires and garnets along with Pica. Holy crap you get stones, gems not flecks that might be. Try it instead of this insane gold mine thing.
The one flake that you said resembled a Manatee looks kinda like Buzzy Buzzard from the Woody woodpecker cartoon..when you look at it in a different angle😁
I thought if looking for gold you go to Wales? I did not know Scotland was famous for gold.
Lovely clean water, beautiful Scottish views. My fav holiday .😊
