Think of that solid object like a sliding door.
That metal was spread opened when inside. When he wanted to take it out, he just pressed both sides of the box, applying some pressure to close the metal. Tadaa... it's a "solid" metal inside. Focus on the center of the metal 1:08 , you can see a very slight line lol
