I saw him when I’d have been about 12, at the Prince of Wales Theatre,London in 1981. I was a member of the Fan Club, and Paul was holding a meet and greet. My brother and I had booked to attend this. He answered my question very nicely, and just seemed like the friendliest guy. Later that day, after a visit to Hamleys, where I bought the Paul Daniels magic linking rings IIRC, I watched him do this cup and ball trick as part of the act. On stage, he just creased us up with laughter. I’m sure he got away with blue murder sleight of hand wise, cos we were laughing so much. Very fond memories of my childhood here. Thanks, Paul!

One of them is gimmick, the knife or the block, which is it ?

That is not metal block, you can not just lift that metal block so easily up and down

ya the only thing id like to see is a picture of a rubber band or taffy (something that stretches) and you fake like your stretching it and then compare the two. Justification for the optical illusion of varried size differences.

Interesting but it doesn't quite mate sense pull Daniels at the beginning says it's a true story and then proceeds to take he doesn't know if it's true or not it's either a true story or not

Actually a real magician would not push the button hold it for a second they would push it and release it at the same time hence The flash will hide it zipping out of your hand😂

This brings back lovely memories of going to see Paul at the Grand theatre in Leeds with my dad, and then meeting the man himself afterwards but being too shy to say much to him!

It's amazing, his technique was clearly flawless. I grew up watching him. But through a modern lens, there's clearly something missing. That spark of likability that we demand these days wasn't so crucial back then. And that's the only thing he lacked; hindsight can be so very cruel. Clearly a master of everything demanded of him.
