This is a great instructions video for making a wallet. You make it look so easy with step by step instructions. Can't wait to make one for my grandson. He has asked me to make him a wallet for his birthday.
I made a wallet for a man using this tutorial. The instructions were simple to follow even for someone who has never made a wallet. I recommend using coat/jean thread and a Jeans needle when you get to the extremely thick parts towards the end. This will help your wallet to remain intact and to ensure that your thread and needle will not break. Great Christmas gift for my guy.
Hi Nikki. As a blind sewist, I truly appreciate your verbal explanations. They are very concise and help give a clear mental picture of why you say to sew things a certain way. I am making two of these for gifts for two young men I know, so I will omit the tab. I will also be looking at your other videos; if they are as clearly explained as this one, I will be subscribing. You'd be amazed how many people give directions like, "sew it together here" which, if I'm having a bad eye day or the material colors are lacking enough contrast, are absolutely impossible for me to follow. Thank you!
Thank you so much for your feedback! I really try to show you with my fingers where I am sewing and how I position the needle on the fabric so it is nice to know this has been helpful for you. Some say I talk too much and am too detailed. You gave me a smile for it! Thank you! I do hope you are able to watch earlier videos, before this one, because I give detailed instructions and believe they will be useful based upon your needs. Thank you!
Thanks. I don't mind showing mistakes. It is how I learned, which is how I want you all to learn - you will never "perfect" a sewing product the first time and seeing those realistic things helps you learn instead of speeding through and not teaching you them. Glad you saw, and learned, what not to do. Hee hee. : )
watching this again, looking for idea's for my 13-year-old son; you always make things look so easy!!! I love your tutorials! Thank you for your time, and I always sprinkle the love of your videos when people ask questions on fb sewing groups that allow it. I have made scrunchies, I have also made your zipper coin pouches! Oh wait, I made book sleeves!!! Lots of Love from WPB Florida!
You are a wonderful teacher. I just bought some of that RFID fabric to help protect information on your credit cards. Figure I will incorporate that into a wallet. I am looking forward to the project.
I just come across your page and I love love your tutorials u take the time to explain and show what your doing and I love that becuz I’m learning to sew and these videos help me out thank you so much for sharing ❤😊
Thank you so much for this feedback! Some people don't like all of the explanations but if they have followed along since my earlier videos, they'd know I am a teaching channel! I try to explain the why and the how. I am not a professional - but glad they have been able to help you!
Awesome! Thank you! Let me know how it turned out. I altered mine a bit, added a pocket but you can do so many things with this! Thanks for subscribing!
I love this video! Your videos are amazing! My 8 y.o. grandson just watched with me & wants me to make him one with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles & blue inner fabric ( for his favorite turtle)😊. I can't wait to get started.
I made some of my children's clothes when they were infants and made Barbie clothes later; it was excruciating. Now at 78, I'm again trying to learn to sew. Your videos are precise without being boring, Keep it up!
Oh wow! You give me hope that my fingers will hold on then..... : ) I enjoy sewing however, I have Lupus and some days - I just can't! I use to enjoy sewing clothes but have taken on accessories now because of the Lupus. I am sure you can learn to sew. If you have time, watch some of my earlier tutorials because I teach you the why and the how - in order for you to learn techniques. I hope not to bore you.... : ) You'll be a pro in no time!
You are a great teacher. Thank you. My 11 yr grandson has been wanting a wallet. When I made the girls a small bag, he asked what about me? It broke my heart. Your video came just in time. ❤
That is awesome! Now you have a cool option to consider. Did you make it for him? I think this would be cool in a video game, Minecraft or Pokemon fabric. Depending on what he likes. I'd love to know if he likes the wallet! Sewing for boys is difficult sometimes!
I enjoyed this tutorial very much. It took me 3 times to get it right. The accordion strip has about 1/4" left at the end and the 4 1/4 inch square doesn't match up, so I cut the square 5x5", then cut to fit. I hope this helps someone else.
I love this wallet, and the fabric you used. It has been sometime since I've made a wallet, so I'm glad I found your video, it was a good refresher. Thank You for sharing Your Time, and Your Talent with all of us. I will be using kamsnaps, they can be added after the wallet is done, and you can use matching snap colors (to the fabric).
Thank you for that! You'd be amazed at how some people just want to see the final product and not the potential problems you may need to fix! I am not perfect, nor do I claim to be so if you haven't seen many of my other videos, you will see I show you the "oops," portions. : ) Hope they help you!!
@@SewnByNikki yes, although I made so many mistakes. Lol I had to walk away from the project for a day. I hate seam ripping. Lol It was one of those days where nothing went my way.
Hi. I love your videos. Very detailed and so easy to follow. Do you have a wallet like this one but also have a small outside pocket for coins? I have tried this one and love it, I just made the back flap slightly higher. Came out very pretty. Thanks again.
09/06/21: Dang, Nikki, this was a FANTASTIC and well executed tutorial, just like your "Simple Wallet", and I'm gonna try my hand at making one or two. I'm a newly subscribed fan of your work! TFS.
Well, what a nice compliment! Thanks! This is the, "I think I can, I think I can," wallet to complete after the simple one.... : ) Try it!!! If you don't succeed, like me in some things - just try again!! Thanks for your feedback and watching!
Glad it was helpful! I used Pellon 809. That is the only one I use for this project. I would just omit the tab for him, as it appears men's wallets don't have tabs. He may be use to that.
Thank you, this is close to what I want to make! I was at the fabric store today trying to figure out which snap closer to get. I was so lost. I even asked one of the ladies that worked there and she had no clue which one to get either. None of the ones I seen there looked like the one you have. I think I may check what Micheal's has next. What kind, in your opinion, is the best to get?
I purchased a set off Amazon. If you feel you will make several items with snaps, it is definitely worth purchasing a set. Otherwise, Joann stores and Hobby Lobby sells snaps you can use.
Hi Nikki, I really wanted to make this card wallet and I followed the measurements exactly but I see no where where it said to cut 4" squares and my card slots are 4-1/2" and are too close when I put it together to close it. What am I missing here? I have the card slots all sewed and I cut the lining 5x9" like it said to do. Please let me hear back from you so I can fix this. Thank you, Pat
I am new to your channel, watched several videos, just realized no measurement's on at least the first piece of fabric. Do you include measurements if so where, are your measurements listed? I must make this bifold right now. I am near 80 years old. I do not understand your plastic measurement how you make the slots. Can you tell me what measurement for inches or cm, please? Thank you.
Hello! I thought I did... because I filmed one and make loads of them.... Hmm.. I guess I didn't upload it.... sorry. I will make a note to add it to my, "Quick things to Sew," video that will come out soon.
Great project😃 For a guy are you saying the tabs closure is not for a man wallet🤔 what brother machine you are using🤔 I am going to pick a fabric for men, make these for gifts
In this video, I am using the Brother CE 1125 PRW (Project Runway)... Most men's wallets (store bought), do not have a strap closure over them... women use the tabs but to be honest, it is all a personal preference!

If I’m using heavier fabric. Would I still interface? Thinking of twill or duck cotton for my son. Thanks. Great video
I think so! Those materials aren't really thick like vinyl/faux leather. The material will be flimsy otherwise.

Will the billfold stay folded nicely if we choose not to put a closing snap or Velcro? Just curious.
