  • This is how I make the vest for the teddy bear pattern I use: Simplicity A2115. If you need a tutorial on the actual memory bear, visit Whitney Sews 🧵 channel. • Memory Sewing Project ...
I'm sorry for the low quality of this video, but I'm not a professional RUclipsr and my goal was to show the method without sparkles and cute music. I hope that this will be helpful to anyone who wants to make a vest for a memory bear.

Thank you so much for this video. I was tearing my hair out with the printed directions. Your method, especially the shoulders, is brilliant.

Wow, I would rather put a whole bear together than the vest. I need to make 4 vests. Thanks this is the easiest way I've seen. I have been putting this off. Thanks for making this video.

@@jonathanjars I cut out one it worked, the next one i need to add a quarter inch. Bathing suit material. I have a small cotton top I'm going to try next. But your method works like a charm. Thanks so much.

Dude, INCREDIBLY AMAZING!!!! I could NOT understand the instructions to make the vest either! I thought It was a bust. But luckily, you helped, and this was better than I thought. That thing you did with the shoulders, VAVAVOOOOM!!! Never thought of that. But what I did was use a paper clip to put them together & it worked better! I've been a tailor since i was 14. It's been many many many moons! LOL And I have the same pattern as well. I've been doing these for years and people (without the vest) and they just RAVE about them!!!! So, thank you sooooo much for this. I appreciate you and all you do with these types of things.

My previous comment seemed to go into the ether. Anyway, can’t thank you enough for this video. The vest was likely going to end up in the trash bin until you rescued me. Lots of seam ripping, and now my heart won’t be broken losing the additional clothing I wanted to complete the bear.

I echo the other comments. I was pulling my hair out trying to follow the pattern! I ended out ripping out seams to do what you did, and decided I would just hand stitch the collar on before watching the rest of this where you recommended that. I also decided it could use some top stitching, which you also recommended later in this video. Can’t thank you enough. This was probably headed for the trash bin without your instructions, but I really wanted to use the additional fabric to complete the memories for my daughter.

Thank you so much, Jonathan. I had been looking for a tutorial since there aren't any regarding the clothing for the bear. I am an intermediate sewer and the written directions are very frustrating. I look forward to seeing more of your tutorials with your new camera stand turned to landscape. ;-)

I have made the vests using the instructions that came with the pattern, I sometimes use a heavy weight material and pulling it through the shoulder seam is not something to look forward to,,, I made my latest bear and vest using your method for sewing the vest,,, it worked like a charm,,, ,,, The method you show does not leave the raw inside side seam on the vest,,, *****

The vest was a nightmare! Was doing them for family for my recently passed mom and just couldn’t wrap my head around it. But what about the collar? Whitney herself told me she doesn’t do the vest. So glad you did this. I was just cleaning out already cut vest pieces I’m going to put together. Attach the collar afterwards and pass them out this year.
