    Of any of the sports movies I've ever watched, this is probably the most moving scene for me. As a Badger fan, I can easily see Mark Johnson saying that. His Father was a great coach and even better man. Badger fans have been so blessed to have the Johnson family.

      The only two scenes in a sports movie that comes is Gale Sayers making his speech in Brian's Song and about the four minute mark in the Rocky Apollo fight. That is instant teary eyed when the music starts.

    Here’s a tremendous coach. He demands obedience from his players, forcing them to play hockey his way no matter what up to this point in order to keep the kids from running the team. His players fear him like how men fear God, that’s the first step. However, in order to earn true respect from his players before heading to the Olympics he takes into account their opinions on an important matter such as this. His players now trust him, and he trusts them. That is how you lead men.

    • @sickofguysnamedtodd2293

    I love how defensive Mac is about this having not been Rizzo's idea (because I'm pretty sure it was Mac's), and how pissed off O.C. gets when Herb says "That kid can flat out play." Because basically he's insinuating that Rizzo (who they all believe is who is going to be replaced with Tim) can't play, and they all know that Rizzo can play.
    And then Mark Johnson's just like "We're a family" and suddenly all their reactions make sense to themselves.

    • @broadstreet21
      @broadstreet21 5 лет назад +8

      It's inconceivable that he'd consider replacing of all people, Rizzo, the captain, with anyone. But that's how you get their attention and test their commitment. Pick on the leader the hardest and see if anyone will stand up for him. Mark Johnson, the star player (and likely would-be captain with Rizzo cut), is the one to stand up.

    • @sickofguysnamedtodd2293
      @sickofguysnamedtodd2293 5 лет назад +11

      broadstreet21 well Herb made it clear that nobody’s roster spot was safe. And he was especially hard on Rizzo because if word got around that he’d cut the captain, the other guys would wonder where they stood. That’s exactly what he wanted because he didn’t want anyone getting complacent.
