Back then these young boys had a long road ahead of them. Not one of them not knowing what the future will bring them. But with the guidance and knowledge of Herb Brooks brought these boys to men in the 1980 winter Olympics. They had a bond and a trust like family's do.
I was 20 years old in 1980. It seemed that the Country needed something! Interest rates were very high. Job's layoff's were ever where. Heading in that winter. The U.S.A was imperil. Blink at Best. This hockey game was taped. Many people watched thinking Russian's would dominate the Young U.S.A. A group of spirited Colleage Students and a Hard nosed Coach. Set The ' Russian's ' on there Ass! It started a shot that was heard across America. The Can Do! SPIRIT! Then we held Our heads a little higher. Ronald Reagan became President. That can do Spirit rang through out this Country. It's time for Ameican's. To get that Can Do Spirit! Back! Stop the in fighting and Political Back biting. Let's get Back together and get on with being America again. Is there anyone else out there. That think's its Time. Shawn.
Great comment. I was 9 at the time and still remember it. Was more than just a hockey game with everything going on in the country. Jumpstarted the prosperity of the 80s after the dreadful decade that was the 70s.
So because I'm slow... The coach never once had the intention of bringing that new guy in, and it was a psychological trick to make his team bond together?
No that’s not true…he had every intention of giving a roster spot to that player whose name I’m blanking on rn…but when Mark Johnson said they were a family Herb realized how special the bond was that Team USA built which was something he was hoping for from the first day he started coaching em
@@Zer0Skateboard Ahhh all things considered were doing alright. Could def be better but could also be much worse. Taxes are down a bit (at least appear to be... come ooonnnm April lol) Jobs coming back, economy high=better 401k and retirement for all. Foriegn relations are steady.
Herb poker face, high fives and smiles in his head.

Yes. Herb Brooks was the king of psychological manipulation. And well, the proof that it worked.........the gold medal. Hell of a coach.....
so true
@@gretzkysyotes im using this for my leadership project thanks for the explanation! :)
That's very unfair to the person he brought in.

Exceptional USA 🇺🇸 👏
01:16 The instant they officially became a team
They cut the best part.. "That's my girlfriend too".
Ive always wondered if coach Herb planned for this to happen. Or did he really plan on bringing that other guy in that late in training?
Brilliant!
Not surprising coming the Great Badger Bob’s son
Who you calling miracle? What family?
Kurt Russell looks like Donald trump
Street Spitzley and they both pulled off a miracle and helped a country. Uncanny
