Very well done, Kevin. I like the throttle control and will study your video some more to see how that works. You could definitely do something commercially with your ideas as they are superior to most of the existing control systems on small bandmills. Thanks!
I’m copying your design. Thanks for the vid. How have the components help up? I’m concerned about that speed controller. Also- have you thought about using relays to auto raise the head momentarily and then auto return the sawhead? My electronics friend is thinkin of a remote control for this
Nice job man! Very well thought out with the limit switches and throttle control! I have a 130max and thinking about building out an Arduino controller system for height adjustment. You're inspiring me to attempt a similar chain drive auto feed. Subscribed!
Dude! That is awesome. I have been thinking of ways to do that to my mill. Now I know. Have you thought of making your end stop movable so if you are cutting shorter logs it doesn’t travel so far before shutting down?
Joe thank you for your comments. Actually I do have a system I’ve designed for the hm132 that has an adjustable end stop. Subscribe to my channel. I hope to be uploading that video soon.
Will you be putting out a video on how all of this is wired together? Also I've looked for the motor online but can't find one with the Brake on it like the one you show. Any ideas on where to find one?
Here is an ad from ebay with 2 for sale right now. I will work on a wiring video. Please subscribe if you haven't already so you see it when I post it. www.ebay.com/itm/155139971363
Love the mods. I've done the laser and dro but now you got me thinking lol. Where did you purchase the chain? Have you had any issues with sawdust in the chain or gears? Keep up the great content. Cheers from Blissfield New Brunswick Canada
Thank you very much. I bought the chain from a local fleet farm store. I put the drive chain and motor on this side of the mill just so I could watch it to make sure a piece of tree bark didn’t fall on the chain and get missed and I also wanted to keep the chain away from the saw dust exhaust side. No problems yet.
Awesome job you've done on the mods! Can you get decent accuracy with your powerhead? I'm trying to decide if I want to go with the trailer jack or a variable speed like your awesome carriage drive system.
Yes it is. Those things are easy to find, cheap, and they come with 2 motors. They can be wired for 12volts or 24 volts, and their designed for wet conditions.

Where did this guy go? He has some great ideas and I miss his vids.
Thank you for the compliment. I’m still here sawing away. I just haven’t added content for awhile. I get working on that!

genius idea, well done! since your mill is portable I wonder about a solar panel to recharge battery?
Very nice you thought this out well.

I’m thinking of doing the same thing on the height adjustment. Interested in collaborating to make that work?
I have Built a similar system on my diy Mill However I Never could find a full size electrical box like the one you have. Where did you get it from ?
Nice addition!
Excellent build. I have most of my parts and have got the wiring all figured out.
Can you show how you packed everything into the control box?
Love the video!!! I just started doing my hm126. How do you have the throttle wired up? I have the same actuator
Check my channel. I have a more detailed video of the electric throttle.
Nice job.
Maybe add an adjustable stop on the cut side. Something you could slide up and down the rail. For when you cut shorter material.
Nice job!
Awesome
Cool id love to do mine

Oh yes. I use a DRO (found in another of my videos) and I can dial the blade in with pinpoint accuracy.
@@kevinthemiller9003 good to hear! Keep up the good work. I've been enjoying your videos.
@@neilsbergstedt thank you very much. I appreciate hearing that.
How did you attach the drive system to the mill
I simply bolted the motor assembly onto the carriage. You can see the bolts in the video when I first talk about the parking brake.

I have actually considered putting a kit together.

This is VERY inexpensive and this unit is a 60 Amp unit. You can easily get away with a 20-30 amp unit but I like to over build things. 😉
Do you use two pwm’s? You mentioned one above?
@@revid64 no you only need one pwm. It comes with the double direction switch.
