God what an incredible decade. Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles, Thundercats, He - Man, Transformers, G.I Joe, The Real Ghostbusters ex...ex....... So many GREAT, kick ass cartoon series in the 80's. I'm so glad I grew up back then to experience one of the best decades for cartoons. LIKE if you agree 😎😁
I'm a collector, love you ladies in so many ways. I just came across a book on Amazon the other day about the best cartoons of the 80s. Not sure of the name right off hand. Was looking for a hardcover history of command to add to my Ghostbusters, Back to the Future Etc books
ThunderCats was definitely a contender for my favorite animated series growing up. During the summer of 2015, I had a brief opportunity to revisit the series when it was available to watch here on RUclips. Since I’m legally blind, one of the things I’m amazed I didn’t notice when it was first on the air was how the character of Lynx-O was blinded at the beginning of his arc and had to utilize the rest of his senses. That is a concept which I have known my whole life.
One thing I liked about the original Thundercats cartoon was the life lesson was woven into the story. It made each episode feel a little unique that way compared to say the MOTU cartoon.
Indeed. These life lessons (don't be a bully, don't litter etc) formed a part of most of the best 80's cartoons from the US. (Off the top of my head, I remember Transformers, Defenders of the Earth and M.A.S.K often featured a useful life lesson)
I remember the day, evening, this debuted. I reserved the large color tv in our living room ahead of the air date because it had basic cable. I let everyone know, almost every day prior to its release. Everyone agreed. That night, being the youngest with the least pull, I was relegated to my parents bedroom to watch it on the small beat up, over the air, black and white television, with its tinfoil assisted antennas. I stood for most of the showing just to get a clear picture. I'll never forget that night.

I find it disappointing that the ThunderCats 2011 reboot only lasted for one season but yet when they rebooted Voltron on Netflix that lasted for a few seasons even when they rebooted he-man back in the early 2000s that lasted for a few seasons it's just disappointing that that show had so much potential to go on for another couple seasons like the original thunder cats did but now it was all about the merchandising at this point that the fact that they had to show on at night instead of during the daytime on the weekends so the kids can watch it and actually say hey I would like to buy the merchandising from that and keep the show going
@@simplysteve68 "Ancient spirits of evil transform this decayed form to...MUMM RA, THE EVER LIVING!!" Followed by a maniacal laugh. Yes I was an 80s kid too. Ghostbusters, Ninja Turtles, Thundercats, Transformers, etc certainly were the greatest of my generation
@@garylyons1498 I remember the Ghost Busters cartoon and wondering why none of the guys were from the movie, followed by the "Real Ghost busters" cartoon which confused the shit out of me. Wasn't till a few years ago I was watching a retro channel and saw a B&W Ghost busters show from 1975 staring Forrest Tucker and Larry Storch from F-Troop, going out to the same house every episode to bust ghosts with the help of a gorilla (Guy in a suit). It was then that I found out that the rights were purchased from this show to make the 80's movie & once the original rights holders saw the chance to make some money, they created the first cartoon based from the original show and not the characters from the movie. After that the movie guys said "Oh fuck no" & created a Ghostbusters cartoon based off the movie with Slimer and everything, which they called "The Real Ghostbusters". It was good to get such decades lingering questions & confusion out of my head.
I loved Thundercats sooo much as a kid. I actually got the Sword of Omens for Christmas! It had a battery in it so when you pressed the Thundercats logo it glowed for a few seconds! Best present EVER!
@@robdcollector2808 My cousin had Castle Greyskull, Snake Mountain, G.I. Joe base, I think the Joe Carrier, and nearly everything that had to do with those franchises. Spoiled little shit. I was Green with envy. I had to mollify myself with my considerable collections of Star Wars and Transformers. The only reason my cousin doesn't have a permanent dent in his head is he never got an AT-AT...neither did I. I don't think I could have forgiven him for getting his hands on MY Grail. He was the type of turdling who would run to his parents (they were well to do and doting) and have them buy him an item if he found out you really wanted it. We're all good now, but I loved to hate him back in the day when we were obnoxious little snotlings. I was not above swallowing my pride to go stay the weekend and play with all the stuff that I hated him for having.
I still have all the figurines!! And the accessories. I think I was the only girl I knew that was obsessed with ThunderCats. They were bloody awesome . . I think I still have the movie on VHS
HAH! Don't feel "weird" because I'm 55 yrs. old and I STILL have all of MINE TOO! :D AND All of my STAR WARS Figs and METAL "VOLTRON" Figures/vehicles too!
Lucky you :) all I ever got was second hand He-man figures my mom was stingy. Thunder Cats was a great. I prefer old the old cartoons. Last cartoon I watched was Batman the animated series and Gargoyles. This digital stuff is crap.
I remember the Lion-o action figure had that weird battery socket thing in the middle of his back that made his eyes glow when you stuck that metal thing in it
A little off topic, but it gave me an industrial case of red-ass because I could only catch half of Robotech before I had to go out to the fuckin' bus stop. It took considerable efforts to not lose my shit when I was finally berated enough to get me out the door. Absolutely infuriating.
The cartoons I see my niece and nephew watch today drive me insane as there's literally no point to them. Thundercats, GI Joe, and other 80's cartoons all had an underlying life lesson they taught-like being loyal and true to your friends and family with clearly defined boundaries of right and wrong. You could tell who the 'rebel' kids were as their heroes were the villains in all the cartoons lol but even the villains weren't that bad. It was like the A-Team, were no one EVER died or was killed (I remember an episode where a freaking helicopter crashed into the side of a mountain and the dazed bad guys started crawling out.) I'm glad I was an 80's kids and got to watch these great cartoons before they became nostalgic. They had a charm all their own unmatched today.
The 2002 reboot of He-Man & The Masters Of The Universe had the same problem. It was a beautifully drawn and animated show with fantastic writing, but was canceled early due to poor toy sales. This got me wondering. Do kids even play with action figures anymore? When I was a kid they were all the rage. But today there’s XBox, PS4, iPads, smartphones, all capable of playing various games, including first person style games and MMORPGs. Might that have had more to do with the lack of toy sales? Maybe if they had released some Thundercats computer games instead of action figures their merchandise sales would have been better.
Thundarr100 As someone born in the year 2000, I can say that personally I had some action figures growing up, but I played more with video games than with action figures, in particular I played a lot of games on my Gameboy Advance SP that I got on my fifth birthday. I hadn't even known about the He-Man reboot until around 2012 when I stumbled upon it while looking for episodes of the original series on Netflix.
When was the last time you've seen kids playing outside with their action figures? We would play with our he-man and transformers and didn't care who was watching,💪🖕🏼today kids would probably get ridiculed and bullied...🤷🏻♂️🚑🏥
@@theleumaseleets That's really too bad. :( The show was great, with an excellent underlying story bible and mythology that was leading up to some really great stuff when it was cancelled. The portrayal of Hordak was particularly awesome, as a kind of techno-magical interdimensional warlord (more like Horde Prime in the original show, rather than just a minion-commander of the actual warlord) who transformed the dying Keldor into the lich Skeletor. The newer show was more consistent, had a better backstory, and was going great places, and the figures were much better than the originals. My only complaint was He-Man's stupid, *ridiculously* oversized sword with unnecessary mechanical elements which just made it look cheesy... that was the only element of anime influence that was bad. Since they went to all the trouble of tying together elements of the original series into a consistent whole and they had Skeletor adept at wielding two swords, it was a shame they didn't go with the original concept of He-Man's Power Sword and Skeletor's sword being two halves of an original whole sword, which when combined served as a key to the power of Castle Greyskull. They lost an opportunity for a great storyline; they could have written it that Skeletor had managed to steal a portion of the Power Sword's magic and fashion his own sword (or swords), and always seeking to steal the full sword from He-Man to grant him access to the powers of Greyskull. But oh well, maybe someday they'll go back to it again...
This is by far my favorite cartoon....I was obsessed with Thundercats as a kid (and as an adult let’s be real) my kids have grown up watching this and love it as well. I even have the Cats symbol tattooed on my arm
Robotech Transformers G.I. Joe He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (She-Ra Princess of Power by association) Voltron Thundercats The Real Ghostbusters Bionic 6 These are the cartoons I loved coming home from school to watch! So much win!!!
yeah realy man i resently visited a toy store but most of what they where selling were bord games and girls dolls and a bunch of console stuff in the back but hardly any action figures at all and the ones they did have where all cheaply made, could hardly move or do anything for that matter and they just looked like crap and with america not producing any good animation/anime anymore i seriously doubt that they will be selling much action figures any time soon
Yeah because unfortunately it became a monetary issue for those cartoons being on TV and the networks. Because they didn't have to spend $$$ on paying for animated shows for kids even big adult kids like me who love animation and the networks could replace them with infomercials and get paid for airing them in place of the cartoons. What a suck move by the networks!!!
Chad Dion Poor kids. It’s actually sad. These kids get to grow up with computers but they are missing THUNDERCATS, HE-MAN, DUcK TALES, ALViN & THE CHiP MUNKS , playing outside riding your bikes around, making jumps, dirt tracks, club houses, so rare these days. They’re all inside on XBOX1, PS4, the computer and/or their $1k phones
So sad it didn't go forward. The 80's were a fun decade. I remember our cat would race thru the house manically, and we called it 'thunder kitty'. Good times.
There was this one episode of Thundercats where Cheetarah had this big bubble butt close to the ending of the episode. Would anyone be able to tell me what the name of this episode was? Jerked off to Cheetarah webbed by Mongor. You can access this magic moment on youtube by typing in "Cheetarah webbed by Mongor" as your search title. Prefer to see the actual webbing part at .50 speed. Actually, it's worth watching at just about any speed.
LITTLE too real, my dude! "Was super into Cheetara as a youngster" = yeah man, I can relate! "Here's exactly how I masturbated to this children's cartoon" = WHOA MAN TOO MUCH F()*ing INFO!!!
I loved the Thundercats! I hope they bring them back for this new generation to see but they definitely need to market the cartoon better. I didn't even know about the 2011 reboot until 2015. It looked awesome too.
LoL, lol again. I totally emulated Liono as a kiddy, then I stunted my brain development at that of a teenager with too much pot, grew some muscle and went on a cougar cull for many years... It all makes sense now, thank u
One possible reason why the original Thundercats action figures were larger than the average figures on the market was to compete with the Masters Of The Universe figures, which had already raised the standard of action figures in the early 80s. But also, the manufacturer, LJN, started making the 8 inch WWF figures a year before.
I always loved the fact Thundercats was produced by Rankin Bass, the same company that produced all those classic Stop-motion Christmas Specials, and the 1977 Hobbit movie
I didn't know that. But it shows how one of the Thundercat "bad guys" (don't know name) looks like Gollum from that Hobbit cartoon. I remember watching that Hobbit movie as a little kid, and being freaked out by Gollum.
The comparison of their base to the valley of the kings always amused me. In the 80's these mystical themes in cartoons weren't a coincidence. Also, in the 1st episode when their travelling through space...its actually beyond deep. Shout out 2 panthro, and she tara, this has to be possibly the most iconic cartoon...altho with so many great ones in that era its ridiculously hard 2 choose the best
My mum used to tell me tomato soup was Liono soup so I would eat it and I ran out of a toy shop with a sword of Omens when I was about 5 because no one would buy me it so I ran out with it an my gran had to pay for it lol. Loved Thundercats
This show was really good! I haven’t seen it since I was little. I’m 38 now. I’m watching it now and it really has a good show here. I always seen it as once the TMNT showed up (as silly as the cartoon is), everything else was told to get lost and they pretty much did. Turtles took over the entire world like no other, and when Thundercats made a return, turtles were returning again. I don’t think it was nor will be the phenomenon they were in the 80s through 90s, but they often push out anything else. Better or worse. Cowabunga and Hooooo!
Minty you forgot to mention that Thundercats and Silverhawks had a bunch of ties with eachother when it came to the production team and voice actors. Great video none the less 🍻
Yes! I mean, I watch this guy's channel, but they annoy the fuck out of me. From grossly mispronouncing words and names, to getting information all wrong. Plus, like most Millennials, the guy is just super creeped out about everything. Creepy!
Speaking of mythology, one thing I found very interesting was that Mumm-Ra lived in The Great Pyramid (called The Black Pyramid in the show). Which is also located at the geodetic center of the Earth's land mass. Also, you notice that the columns outside the pyramid mark the four cardinal points, north, south, east and west. I noticed that the very first time I saw the show in 1985 and found it highly interesting that they went out of their way to show it. Someone in the production or animation team, knew their history.
Best cartoon intro of ALL TIME!! Didn't know Lion O was a child.. How did I miss that!? Found out about 2 years ago that Panthro was voiced by Bill Cosby's dad on The Cosby Show!! Mind blown again!!! Oh and Cheetara might have been 1st cartoon crush LOL. #WhereverEvilExistsMummRaLives
@cyke33: Oh yeah, that crap is a real thing. The original video was posted by WB I think, and it has waaaaay more dislikes than likes, lol. It's atrocious.
I heard the 2019 remake was cancelled due to the backlash of the promo released. The 2019 version is pretty much drawn in such a way due to the popularity of shows like Adventure time. This is why we can't have nice things.
stephen young that’s the 80s bro. of course it was trash. no special effects. same as Star Wars in the 80s. pure garbage. a He-Man and Thundercats movie in 2020 would be legendary.
Gooldblooded BO3 That's not why it was garbage it was trash bcuz it didn't have a big enough budget. There were a few epic and sci fi classics back then just like nowadays just bcuz a movie has lots of CGI doesn't mean its gonna be good
Chuck Chilla true but when it comes to a brand like Thundercats you need lots of CGI to show its full potential. So like I said, a Thundercats movie in 2020 would be legendary.
The original worked why change anything in the reboot...I mean you made PANTHRO old and the LION O WAS THE SAME AGE AS THE REST ....IN ANY REBOOT PEOPLE REALLY DONT WANT CHANGE JUST THE ADVANTAGE OF BETTER VISUAL EFFECTS
i have the cheetara action figure from 2011 series but i got it for a 2,30 euro's bargain deal because i found it in the bargain bin in a Retail store 2 years back
@Paul Catalano: So your into arts/crafts? i wish i was better with my hands but my tech skills only go as far as the brainy stuff since im no good with any kind of physical labor and anything i try to create Always ends up looking very choppy and weird
Silverhawks was very alike, the Thundercats in space lol. They both even had the main villain, physically small, transform into a large beast. Their names sounded similar, too. (Mum-Ra, Mon-Star).
I got the visionary,s battle tank thingy one year for Christmas cool as fuck it was only this was we always had to go to mass half ways through every visionary episode. God mass was boaring
Shane Mc Kenna it's been a few years since I watched it but if my memory serves me right the last episode involved a birthday or something and they had a big cake/ food fight not really fitting for the theme of the show
I remember being so disappointed as a kid when I learned that they had cancelled the 2011 remake because it was fantastic. It had amazing storylines great animation and visuals. The only criticism I had with the remake was they didn’t have the iconic original 80s style theme song. I remember when I was younger I would listen to that song all the time with my dad, and although I wasn’t a kid of the 80s I sure did love it. I think If it had that then it would have been even better. But there are honestly some absolutely amazing episodes in the 2011 remake that help to expand upon the thunder cats lord. Such as the episode which explains the origins of the Sword of Omens. What made it worse was they left us on a massive cliffhanger so we never found out how Lion-O and co defeat Mumm ra. Hopefully someday we will get a film or feature length episode to resolve this annoying problem. You can disagree if you want idm too each their own. Xx
wstine79 . That's probably where the stories happen , right? Technology , magic and and building with a *ahem* Black Panther head on it ??? Yup! It's the royal palace of Wakanda , ha!😃 . The Thundercats would fit in perfectly in the main MARVEL Universe , huh?? Be it in Wakanda or The Savageland ( X MEN ) ?
wstine79 - he could not. wakanda kills all who enter. they say so in the movie, hence all the scars from killing. it is really a country of murderers, UN would be asking a lot of questions about missing people and human rights abuses. it is a grim "reality" of wakanda.
The real number 1: It has the best Intro in cartoon history!! I mean, who doesn't get goosebumps everytime watching that epic close up to Leon-O at the beginning of the intro??
It was pretty good and was a much more grounded approach to the series, at least until around the end of its run where it seemed like the studio forced the producers to make changes to the series to either make it more appealing to kid or so they could have more things to make toys of.
Here’s one you didn’t mention, they were naked in the pilot episode. I’m not kidding! They were actually naked! But, being a show for kids, it was a “Barbie & Ken” style of nudity (if that makes sense).
God, I LOVED Thundercats back in the day, it was one of my first favorite obsessions (after Muppet Babies and before Ninja Turtles, and of course long before I moved into more adult fare like Doctor Who and Xena) back when I was in grade school (2nd-4th grade). Who cared about the lessons back then? They had actual STORY you could watch and get excited about. Kids today growing up on Arthur, Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood, Dora the Explorer, and all those 99% lecture series don't know how great cartoons could be. The 80s and early 90s had some of the last great cartoons to come out IMO.
@Anthony Mcken People that like ThunderCats better than SilverHawks seem to be enamored with the classic fantasy tropes that it employs; ThunderCats was too derivative of Masters of the Universe and the main antagonist was too easily dissuaded from accomplishing his goals! I found SilverHawks to be fresher and far more dynamic, even though IT evoked the G-Force from Battle of the Planets!
I know I'm ALWAYS late for the party minty but I have to say the ending of this video had me cracking up because of how attached to our favorite things can become. Your ending was EXACTLY and I mean EXACTLY how I reacted when a team canceled an AMAZING tv show to just bring it back a year later as nothing but slapstick fart jokes. I almost don't wanna name the show because of the hatred the "new" show recieves. I'll make it really easy. It was an animated show and it ended on a cliffhanger and they just added "Go" to the end of the title. I'm serious if you look up TTG ANY VIDEO AND ALL VIDEOS HAVE COMMENTS DISABLED. So I am using the "he who shall not be named" as a measure of not turning your comments sections into a bloodbath. So yes, I totally understand the end of the video lol which I think is a shame because I wanted to tell people the "go" version did eventually warm up to me and it sucks that I can't express that I no longer hate it with a passion. I accepted it for what it is. It doesn't help the case of "why did you cancel our beloved show for absolute garbage because they have the exact same voice actors. That's what fans can not understand. DC has never given us a reason as to WHY
I loved both "Thundercats" and "He-Man". Great shows in all the ways, but in matters of animation, "Thundercats" is definitely up ahead... that japanese craftmanship!
I've watched a lot of Minty's videos and I can honestly say that he mispronounces a lot of words that should be hard to mispronounce if you've properly done your homework on a given topic. _Did you catch him saying "Swords of Omen" instead of the obvious Sword of Omens?_ He has mispronounced so many things that I know it can't be simple mistakes, or that he's doing it on purpose just for the hell of it. I really think that Minty has some type of . . . issue. I figure it has to be the case since he's done this so often and an independent review of his videos before posting would catch most of the mispronunciations, thus allowing him time to fix things before final posting.
Sir Aaron Rowell- If it is, it is rather embarrassing. Some of the things Minty has mispronounced, I've just never heard anyone speak them in such a way. When there is only one pronunciation and Minty speaks something totally new it is *as if* he has gone out of his way just to do so. - Something is just very odd about this whole thing. Maybe there is someone else purposely advising him to say words the wrong way. I'd really like to know.
Lapidot 4 ever actaully, there were going to be more cool stuff being introduce in season 2 of the remake, such as the introduction of older characters like Bengali, Hachiman, Mandora, Safari Joe, and the Lunataks. There was also going to be new backstory for characters like Cheetera origin, the Thunderkittens origin of the flute, Snarf origin and even a backstory to Slithe reason of hating the Thundercats ( which is kinda messed up and sad ). At one point, there was going to be a freaking Silverhawk and Tigershark crossover, which was supposed to give an explanation to Mon*star transformation. It too bad the show got cancelled and was replace by an inferior version of it. Maybe one day the show could return in any way as possible.
I watched a documentary a while back with the cast and they said that every time Earl Hammond did the transformation sequence everyone had to leave the room because they'd be laughing so hard. He would act out the scene and "fill the room". XD
I grew up with the 80’s Thundercats and I loved them (still do) and was psyched when I heard that they rebooted the show in 2011. I have admit I was surprised that they made Liono a teenager or maybe in his early 20’s but I came to love it cause he still had that childlike wonder I loved the animation, it made it look like an anime. The characters were the same yet had some changes and the story changed too. The one thing that I absolutely hated was the change in Tygra’s character in the 2011 series. He went from being a wise caring noble big brother/mentor character to an arrogant self centered selfish asshole. Granted I also hated what they did with Pumyra’s character but Tygra’s tops hers. I hate 2011 Tygra,
@@judgewilson2410 Tail is one possible meaning of O as a solitary syllable, yes. O may also be used to indicate a leadership position. However it is used as a prefix rather than suffix, as in Lion-O's name.
I used to watch the more recent Thundercats and He-Man and the Masters of the Universe cartoons because the Cartoon Network was one of my favorite channels. He-Man was okay but I really liked the Thundercats and was really interested to see where it would go. And then one day it wasn't on anymore which I did not understand. The cartoon was awesome and this Mumm-Ra was serious. After he would transform he looked bigger yet a bit more cooler and collected then the 1980's version. I thought it just made this Mumm-RA more sinister and frightening. People not watching it sounds ridiculous.
It got canceled, which is crazy and stupid. I love the 2011 thundercat series, i don't know why it got canceled, but there are some shorts about the snaif, also they are somewhat bringing it back but irs like a comedic version of thundercats but not really thundercats. Like a spoofy of thundercats. Alot of people are unhappy about it. I forgot what's its called, but search up thundercats 2018 or 2019
This guy mispronounces and mangles so many of the names from Thundercats I have a bit of a hard time believing he ever even saw the show, but rather only just recently read about it. "Swords of Omen?" "Wild Kit and Wild Kat?" Yeah...
If you guys watched his videos youd know he has trouble pronouncing stuff and is very aware and apologetic about it. His fan's know it doesn't matter because hes awesome.

Me too
I had the thundertank and the sword of omens, growing up as a kid in the 80's was the fucking best
I just wish they would show re-runs of the episodes. I introduced my 5 year to both thundercats and H-MAN, and he absolutely loves them
Kids got good taste. :)
All Episodes Are On Hulu
Parenting done right!
Now that's what I call some grade-A parenting. 🙂
There's a new He-man cartoon series on Netflix and it's pretty good. Masters of the Universe: Revelation 👍
My all-time favourite cartoon. I was obsessed with it when I was 7. I had the full size toy sword which lit in the dark and the claw.
Good times.
Lol me too, my brother and I played thunder cats every day got the whole block into the game
Awesome, awesome to the max!!!
I still have all the figurines!! And the accessories. I think I was the only girl I knew that was obsessed with ThunderCats. They were bloody awesome
. . I think I still have the movie on VHS
HAH! Don't feel "weird" because I'm 55 yrs. old and I STILL have all of MINE TOO! :D
AND All of my STAR WARS Figs and METAL "VOLTRON" Figures/vehicles too!
I have most of the series on DVD. Plus it's also available online
There probably worth 💰
Lucky you :) all I ever got was second hand He-man figures my mom was stingy. Thunder Cats was a great. I prefer old the old cartoons. Last cartoon I watched was Batman the animated series and Gargoyles. This digital stuff is crap.
I remember the Lion-o action figure had that weird battery socket thing in the middle of his back that made his eyes glow when you stuck that metal thing in it
The nostalgia is strong with this one.
Used to get off of the school bus a race to the house to watch this show.
Ahh memories.
A little off topic, but it gave me an industrial case of red-ass because I could only catch half of Robotech before I had to go out to the fuckin' bus stop. It took considerable efforts to not lose my shit when I was finally berated enough to get me out the door. Absolutely infuriating.
Same, after microwaving a pop tart.
I fucking love this guy, whoever he is. He's hilarious. I clicked one video and I'm still binge watching six hours later !!!!
Yeah the best time to be a kid!! Loved being a 80s kid.
Just to point out, it wasn't the sword that needed to be protected, it was the eye of thundera.
Just a little nitpick.
Not to mention that the "Eye of Thundera" that gave the Thundercats their power is basically a laser pointer in the sky. (Just sayin' Y' know?)
WHEN I WAS A KID I USED TO WATCH THUNDER CATS EVERY MORNING B4 SCHOOL
In the US, figurines are tiny ceramic statues of sad eyed children in overalls at your grandma’s house.
Action figures are what you play with.
Oaf in the US Donald trump is president
🙏🙌 thank you for the memories!! Anyone remembers M. A. S. K.?! Btw......the '80s was the Era to live in!
Sure was.
Not M.A.S.K. I remember M.A.S.H. Great show still today.
@@chiefsteps-in-poo1757 no ITS M.A.S.K. .... MASH SUCKED.
Yes!!! Mask crusaders. I used to watch it. It was great.
MOBILE ARMORED STRIKE KOMMAND.
It was like the A-Team, were no one EVER died or was killed (I remember an episode where a freaking helicopter crashed into the side of a mountain and the dazed bad guys started crawling out.)
I'm glad I was an 80's kids and got to watch these great cartoons before they became nostalgic.
@@theleumaseleets
That's really too bad.
@@AaronLitz Let's just hope that they don't go for an animation style like that of the latest Thundercats reboot.
I really like the 2011 thundercats and it was awsome and it got canceled and i wonder why?
we really need a 10 Things You Didn't Know About SILVERHAWKS
Don’t get me wrong...I loved them both! But Silverhawks was just Thundercats with wings! 😂😂

Silverhawks was a lot of fun. Copper Kidd was my favorite character.
I had a Silverhawks t-shirt with fkin wings, man!
This is by far my favorite cartoon....I was obsessed with Thundercats as a kid (and as an adult let’s be real) my kids have grown up watching this and love it as well. I even have the Cats symbol tattooed on my arm
Ha, I remember watching this as a kid in the '80's... Along with Transformers G-1, Voltron and He-Man.

@@11thWoods That's why I always found his voice so soothing & familiar! Never knew why. Thanks!
Before I was introduced to TMNT & Ghostbusters, He-Man & Thundercats defined my early childhood
Ahh the 80s when cartoons and toys were actually good
yeah realy man i resently visited a toy store but most of what they where selling were bord games and girls dolls and a bunch of console stuff in the back but hardly any action figures at all and the ones they did have where all cheaply made, could hardly move or do anything for that matter and they just looked like crap and with america not producing any good animation/anime anymore i seriously doubt that they will be selling much action figures any time soon
they where good back then but not by today's standarts but still an entertaining watch
Awesome 80s miss it.

Poor kids.
It’s actually sad.
These kids get to grow up with computers but they are missing
THUNDERCATS, HE-MAN, DUcK TALES,

So sad it didn't go forward. The 80's were a fun decade. I remember our cat would race thru the house manically, and we called it 'thunder kitty'. Good times.
Every kid on the block had mad crush on Cheetarah. Let's be real... That was all I wanted to look at being 10 years old. LOL
MaziesButt me too! But i was 16
There was this one episode of Thundercats where Cheetarah had this big bubble butt close to the ending of the episode.
Futura from Ghostbusters... Hands down
I loved the Thundercats! I hope they bring them back for this new generation to see but they definitely need to market the cartoon better. I didn't even know about the 2011 reboot until 2015. It looked awesome too.
Muscles of a man, mind of a naive kid. Literally, a cougar's dream. No, literally, a cougar, 'cause this is ThunderCats.
LOL...
I know right 😄
😁
LoL, lol again. I totally emulated Liono as a kiddy, then I stunted my brain development at that of a teenager with too much pot, grew some muscle and went on a cougar cull for many years... It all makes sense now, thank u
surprised the therapists hired to read and approve the scripts didnt think of that
One possible reason why the original Thundercats action figures were larger than the average figures on the market was to compete with the Masters Of The Universe figures, which had already raised the standard of action figures in the early 80s.
That Thundercats shirt you're wearing is kick ass
The comparison of their base to the valley of the kings always amused me. In the 80's these mystical themes in cartoons weren't a coincidence. Also, in the 1st episode when their travelling through space...its actually beyond deep. Shout out 2 panthro, and she tara, this has to be possibly the most iconic cartoon...altho with so many great ones in that era its ridiculously hard 2 choose the best
Ending "wtf" scene was so perfect and well needed. Dane reaction I had.
My mum used to tell me tomato soup was Liono soup so I would eat it and I ran out of a toy shop with a sword of Omens when I was about 5 because no one would buy me it so I ran out with it an my gran had to pay for it lol. Loved Thundercats
My sword of omen have make my little brother throat injured..i stab his throat with it when i play qith him..hehehe
G.I. Joe "and knowing is half the battle"
When I was 5 I got the Lion-O and Mumm-Ra. Honestly I preferred the villain. So hearing someone say they liked him too is awesome to hear.
that damn Mumm- Ra creeped me out as a kid
Minty you forgot to mention that Thundercats and Silverhawks had a bunch of ties with eachother when it came to the production team and voice actors.
Great video none the less 🍻
Agree, Silverhawks were awesome!
It was Wiley Kitt and Wiley Katt
Wilykit and Wilykat
Yes! I mean, I watch this guy's channel, but they annoy the fuck out of me. From grossly mispronouncing words and names, to getting information all wrong. Plus, like most Millennials, the guy is just super creeped out about everything. Creepy!
Mark Curtis Glad I’m Gen X if these things exist.

Trust mumra was scary
Thunder cats and voltron = life
Thundercats would make an awesome RPG.
Gears 73 made by Squarenix. Cloud Strife teams up with Lion-O
7:52 Prince Adam, stabbed by his own sword! LOL

Here's another fun fact you may not know: the voice of Lion-O used to be the announcer on VH1's Best Week Ever!

He's also the voice of Sonny, the Coco Puff Coocoo Bird.
😂 Your reaction to the 2019 remake had me dying! LOL
DayToDayWithJay I was waiting for that to come up 😂
Wait, so that's a REAL THING?
@cyke33: Oh yeah, that crap is a real thing. The original video was posted by WB I think, and it has waaaaay more dislikes than likes, lol. It's atrocious.
+ForbiddenFish It's the Transformers: Prime -> Robots in Disguise 2015 -> Combiner Force -> Cyberverse debacle all over again, isn't it...
I heard the 2019 remake was cancelled due to the backlash of the promo released. The 2019 version is pretty much drawn in such a way due to the popularity of shows like Adventure time. This is why we can't have nice things.
They still need to make a Thundercats and He-Man movie. The new generation would love those characters.
They made a He-Man movie in the 80's...it was garbage🚮
stephen young that’s the 80s bro. of course it was trash. no special effects. same as Star Wars in the 80s. pure garbage. a He-Man and Thundercats movie in 2020 would be legendary.
@@heatlifer3640 I just hope they dont mess it up!
I got the same reaction in the end... that new cartoon in the works is an insult.
Thanks Minty. I really needed something good today. You delivered.
One of the best cartoons ever made
The original worked why change anything in the reboot...I mean you made PANTHRO old and the LION O WAS THE SAME AGE AS THE REST ....IN ANY REBOOT PEOPLE REALLY DONT WANT CHANGE JUST THE ADVANTAGE OF BETTER VISUAL EFFECTS
This takes me back to my childhood days I wish they would make the real movie to this

So many 80s cartoons you could do, Minty. Keep up the great work. Appreciate your effort in each video!!!
Silverhawks was very alike, the Thundercats in space lol. They both even had the main villain, physically small, transform into a large beast. Their names sounded similar, too.
(Mum-Ra, Mon-Star).
Moon star of limbo,.... 👌🏿 That was the best part of the show

Silverhawks sucked
The visionaries...Jaycee and the wheeled warriors...mask....you should do a 80s early 90s cartoons video woo yeaaa
I got the visionary,s battle tank thingy one year for Christmas cool as fuck it was only this was we always had to go to mass half ways through every visionary episode. God mass was boaring
Visionaries was a badass cartoon shame it got cancelled after only about 13 episodes even though the last episode is weird as fuck
ston 42 never see thoes episode what was so weird about them?🙂
Shane Mc Kenna it's been a few years since I watched it but if my memory serves me right the last episode involved a birthday or something and they had a big cake/ food fight not really fitting for the theme of the show
I wish Thundercats animation in show looked as fluid as the intro.
used to watch this with my son ! brings back loads of good memories
Xx
I had always hoped maybe HBO Max or Hulu would pick up the show and finish it. But unfortunately, it doesn't look like that's going to happen.
Panthro probably vacated to Wakanda.
wstine79 WAKANDA FOREVER!
wstine79 . That's probably where the stories happen , right? Technology , magic and and building with a *ahem* Black Panther head on it ??? Yup! It's the royal palace of Wakanda , ha!😃 . The Thundercats would fit in perfectly in the main MARVEL Universe , huh?? Be it in Wakanda or The Savageland ( X MEN ) ?
wstine79 :nice one!
There’s actually a fanmade thundercats black panther crossover comic it looks quite good
wstine79 - he could not. wakanda kills all who enter. they say so in the movie, hence all the scars from killing. it is really a country of murderers, UN would be asking a lot of questions about missing people and human rights abuses. it is a grim "reality" of wakanda.
live action Lion O looked like carrot top (snarf!)
Interesting fact Mumm Ra was 50 cent's favourite cartoon character as a kid.
The real number 1:
It has the best Intro in cartoon history!!
I mean, who doesn't get goosebumps everytime watching that epic close up to Leon-O at the beginning of the intro??
Seat leon o hahah. Its lion o.
What about the three other ThunderCats: Pumyra, Lynx-O, and Bengali?
ckingch they were awesome additions. The blind warrior with the two young apprentices was dope.
The closest Minty got to mentioning Pumyra, Lynx-O and Bengali was to mention the Thundercats Ho Special.
@@Shred_The_Weapon Very true. He also mentioned that the movie was scrapped thus chopping it into the 5-part Thunder Cats Ho episodes.
They're even in the video at 4:12!
Craig Colby, none of them were “irrelevant felines”, especially not the blinded Lynx-O who is sort of a mascot for me since I’m legally blind.

What, there was a 2011 reboot?!? I need to check that out sometime soon!
Definitely do it was amazing. Only one season sadly. So much potential there
It was pretty good and was a much more grounded approach to the series, at least until around the end of its run where it seemed like the studio forced the producers to make changes to the series to either make it more appealing to kid or so they could have more things to make toys of.
Wow you're so dumb
They should have made a video game with thunder cats , he man , then get them featured in street fighter video games .
Thunder thunder thunder thundercats hooo
Sword of Omens...Give me sight beyond sight!
Sean Ashmead careful or you'll go blind🤔🤔😲😲🙃🙃🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
wstine79 . Best part of the song is when the lyrics stop and we see Mumra's Pyramid , the in that segment is EPIC!!
Here’s one you didn’t mention, they were naked in the pilot episode. I’m not kidding! They were actually naked! But, being a show for kids, it was a “Barbie & Ken” style of nudity (if that makes sense).
Yep this and Silverhawks had full frontal nudity in a kids show.
Yeah, that was weird.
Ok I'm 43 and I caught myself singing the tune lol. I'm just grateful I was on my own. Thanks again for bringing back memorys x
Best cartoon ever made
alongside Transformers
jrvbamafan1 Im a He Man fan but I gotta agree Transformers was the best live action cartoon in the 80's
He-man
@JimmyLB SilverHawks was BETTER than ThunderCats!
I would really love to have a Sword of Omens...and that t-shirt
kirby march Barcena having a replica would be dope
kirby march Barcena I had the sword and all figurines has a kid
kirby march Barcena twiggys treasures, tho it doesn't grow
sword of omens: she me the girls shower room.
Thundera, not Thundora, and it's Rankin Bass, not Rankin Base. LOL
I'm i was like wtf that's badly mispronounced even for an Australian.
Hewy Toonmore and Wiley Kit and Wiley Kat
Matthew Hudson running gag maybe?
Sir Aaron Rowell- If it is, it is rather embarrassing. Some of the things Minty has mispronounced, I've just never heard anyone speak them in such a way. When there is only one pronunciation and Minty speaks something totally new it is *as if* he has gone out of his way just to do so. - Something is just very odd about this whole thing. Maybe there is someone else purposely advising him to say words the wrong way. I'd really like to know.
Have to hand it to him that ending was ironically funny, yeah nobody asking for that new series of T-Cats!
The remake should have at least been given one more season. The story was good but left a lot of unanswered questions
Yes i agree and we need more, please tell me Are there petitions of it?
I would be ok with a comic continuation. Or an alternate ending with pymra joins the thundercats. As i actually did like her and liono together
Sat morning cartoons was and will always be the best anyone remember Dino riders that was great but voltron is still number 1 thubdercats a close 2nd
Just thinking of Mumm-Ra screaming whenever he gets beaten still makes me laugh.
I watched a documentary a while back with the cast and they said that every time Earl Hammond did the transformation sequence everyone had to leave the room because they'd be laughing so hard. He would act out the scene and "fill the room". XD
Mahnarch Wow I have to find that
Great as always, love these trips back to my younger years! Would love to see you tackle Jem!
Marshal Arnold ROCK ON GURL
Me too.
Doing the right thing makes you *a superstar*!
She is truly outrageous. Truely, truely, truely outrageous!
I hate 2011 Tygra,
Loved watching the cartoons from my childhood and knowing they are still around.
Now you know - and knowing is half the battle !
Gi Joe!!!
Thundar CATS HOOOOO!
The other half is killing people.
And here I thought it was Lion-O because "O" means "King" or "Ruler" in Japanese. And Lion-O was the King *and* leader of the Thundercats.
Lisa Savignano O....means tail.....
@@judgewilson2410 Tail is one possible meaning of O as a solitary syllable, yes. O may also be used to indicate a leadership position. However it is used as a prefix rather than suffix, as in Lion-O's name.
Nobdy Doh Thought it was short for Lionel
"What the F..." brilliant Minty, your videos always make me laugh
My childhood, wow! Loved Thunder cats.
I forgot what's its called, but search up thundercats 2018 or 2019
Thun-dare-a not dora
This guy mispronounces and mangles so many of the names from Thundercats I have a bit of a hard time believing he ever even saw the show, but rather only just recently read about it. "Swords of Omen?" "Wild Kit and Wild Kat?" Yeah...
Yeah, the mispronunciations jarred me a bit too.
I dare say it not FUN-der-cats either :P
If you guys watched his videos youd know he has trouble pronouncing stuff and is very aware and apologetic about it. His fan's know it doesn't matter because hes awesome.

Your videos take me back to my youth , to my My mothers room and those endless days 😭
This was (and still is) my favorite cartoon. I had almost every toy in the line-up, except the cats lair
