Lower parking brake, you have a push bottom call HYD AUX, The function of this button is to give hydraulic pressure for a few seconds, you will see that it lights up in hotel mode, when it lights up you can activate hotel mode. Without hydraulic pressure, the propeller brake does not activate. If you need anything else, I am here. I have also flown all the variants of ATR and now an Airbus 330. Greetings and I really like your videos.
Any idea what I'm missing in my procedures here? After engine start I still have faults on the AC gens and low hyd pressures. I'm sure I'm missing something along the way but not sure what. I am NOT using ground AC Wild power as other instructors have indicated that is for maintenence only. EDIT: For anyone else that may have the same issue as me, what I was missing was moving the condition lever to Auto after engine start (full start not Hotel mode). Finally got a copy of the FCOM and went through step by step until I found my mistake
Just finished a full flight. I used to have major problems landing. The plane now felt really tamed. Smooth taxi and take off. I was able to use sel speed mode to control the climb. Vnav still kinda overshoot. The plane didnt go wild while landing. Loved it.
As someone that mainly flies airbus I was able to jump right into this one as well ! its got that Airbus philosophy about the flight deck ergonomics that makes it so enjoyable !
Thanks for this Gav, you are a legend, didnt think about the dual setup with the propeller power on right throttle on the TCA and the Power setting on the other, that has made life so much easier with this aircraft, which is certainly no default aircraft!
Fantastic Gavin, thank you as ever for the guide and the SimBrief profile. Time to do some Aer Lingus and Logan Air ops... or perhaps some FlyBe Throwback Thursdays? Can't wait to see you fly this on a live stream.
Love it how you guys get these tutorials up online so fast! Have had a good go at flying this amazing bird, have done alright! But I definitely need your pointers haha.
Have you done the Simbrief integration yet? In the init page then you type the departure arrival airports with out the forward slash in the top line, and the whole fpln populates including sids and stars.
I just finished flying the ATR-72 (both 500 and 600 series). This is really neat. The ATR is a great aeroplane but very ungraceful on the ground. Unforgiving in a crosswind and crews have to really plan ahead when it comes to icing and mountain wave as this aeroplane just doesn’t have a whole lot of performance.
I really enjoyed this thanks! I tried following the MSFS tutorials that they uploaded but it goes quite quick sometimes and doesnt always explain the buttons - as I novice with less than 50hrs flying I really need the extra explanation. This was perfect! Thanks again

Hello, I tried to enter airways like you explained near 20 minutes. but I can only enter 5 airways + waypoint, I can not add a new page in the "airways" page. Do you know how to enter more than 5 airways->waypoint ?
Great video. I'm thinking of purchasing the ATR, currently only fly the Fenix. I've got the TCA Airbus officer pack edition, but what controller are you using? I'm not keen on spending allot of money on new controllers, the Boeing edition pricing has increased
When i throttle up it doesn’t seem to be getting enough power to climb. Is there something that I’m missing? I released the Gus lock and the idle bar below the throttle but it still doesn’t work. My fuel levers are set on auto too. I’ve even switched them to 100% override and still nothing.
Excelent Video Thank You! i have 1 question if any1 can help. I have setup the TCO Quadrant from Thrustmaster like you show us and i dont know how to cutoff the engines completly it wont let me drag the levers all the way down is that gonna be a problem or it's fine ? maybe a stupid question but i usually cutoff fuel and the engines stop and now i cant cause the lever wont stay in cutoff mode. Thank you again!

im having some issues with this aircraft and wondered if anyone could help. I use the thrustmaster tca airbus throttles but whenever i try and calibrate them in the atr the raw input value is messed up. While i am moving the throttles it works just fine but when i take my hand off it reverts back to the default idle of -15823. I've made another profile for it and tried existing ones but i can't seem to find a fix. I've tried other aircraft too and it works just fine. Did a reinstall of the aircraft this morning with no luck. Anyone know a fix?
Hi, I subscribed to your channel and I found this video on the ATR very interesting, I wanted to kindly ask how to check the Condition Lever 1 and 2 Fuel Shut Off, with which button or joystick control? Thank you
Great guide. to get started on this plane! two questions I set up my TM airbus quadrant like you did but can't get the condition lever to go down to eng cut off after my flight. what am I missing? The other question what is the difference between EASA and FAA setting on the EFB? (besides the obvious lol)
Wonderful video, thanks for your time and dedication. Not sure why you and most CC’s keep flipping the battery switch guard open before switching on the battery? This is a guard to prevent you to inadvertently switch on the emergency battery, battery ON can be selected without opening the guard. What gives away you are not a real airline pilot is the fact that you, again as most CC’s, leave the warning lights blinking during setup. They blink for a reason, and after having checked why they are illuminated pilots will push them away as acknowledgment of the displayed failures, even if these displayed failures are expected and normal in this stage of setup. As a former airline pilot it kind of makes me cringe seeing you guys getting on without paying any notice to these warnings. Warning lights on = check why and push it to acknowledge. Don’t leave them blinking because if another real and unexpected failure occurs you will be unlikely to notice it because the warning lights are already blinking and there are already a plethora of “expected” failures listed. It is quite important to do this, and is baked into the minds and habits of every airline pilot during training. Failure to do so during a check ride will make you fail your test. Just telling you this to make you even better at what you do according to standard pilot procedures, because most of you keep amazing me with your proficiency without being ‘real’ pilots. Anyway, I never flew the ATR but it seems fun, so I wanted to thank you for teaching me new things. Keep up the good work!
That is correct. Per the checklist you switch engine power management back to TO position during the approach to have maximum responsiveness available.
Great video, it really helped me 👌 I have a question: The propeller setting of the throttle axis is really useful, but then I can no longer set the levers to fuel SO. Even if I physically move the lever towards zero, nothing happens. Does anyone have any ideas?
Hi. Very helpful. Christmas Tree lights :) One question for you (or anyone else) when you were gently adjusting the speed as you descended towards the threshold are you using the power or the condition lever?
Quite confused with the calibration of the throttle on the efb. I’m on Xbox and when I move my left throttle up or down nothing happens. Can anyone help?

I thought you could set the ZFW and Fuel in the MCDU, not the weight and balance screen? When I enter the fuel in the MDCU the FOB changes.
No, the MCDU can however get the values from the sim weight/fuel settings: long press the key to left of ZFW and Fuel and it will auto populate.
