I have exactly this deck too. It’s a fantastic deck with almost no vow and flutter tanks to the mechanism. One thing to add is that the automatic stop control is very sensitive so you have to clean the pinch roller well to guarantee a steady torch, otherwise it will stop playing randomly. The mechanism to handle this is changed from the older models. A spinning wheel with spokes at the driving wheel, has an optocoupler on it, that sends pulses to a microcontroller that controls the automatic stop.🤔😵💫🧠
@@Silent-Lucidity thank you ! Its one of the reasons i started doing this , i used to do this for a living in the 80s and 90s and i really like these machines making a comeback , i hope these vids help keeping them alive
@@cassettedeck-walkman-repair hope you lived near me i could give you work as i don´t haVE TIME TO FIX ALL CASETTE DECKS I HAVE AND SOME EASY FIXES ON OTHER DEVICES LIKE SELECTORS GONE BAD ETC. NOTHING THAT KEEPS THEM FROM WORKING,sorry for the caps lock it´s activating at it´s own will
thank you !! next vid we'll be giving away the tascam , but it all happened so fast i didnt have to record yet !! stay tuned ;-) and for 1000 subs there will be another giveaway , i am thinking a NAK ?
i smoked all my life and my components are mint ,but in south europe we keep the windows open all night and part of the morning and after 8 in the afternoon as it starts to go down the temperature, sometimes it´s 11.30p.m. and it´s 37 degrees celsius
I picked up one of these decks a few years ago. I haven't done anything to it besides the usual cleaning. Seems to work fine. But I'm not looking forward to belt change time. Such a complicated transport!
@cassettedeck-walkman-repair Love your videos but I want to ask you if there is a way to get in touch with you and possibly have you look at and repair a Technics RS-B605 cassette deck? It sounds great and records great but sometimes it locks up mechanically with fast forwarding/reverse and using the music seek function. I really like this cassette deck and would like to have it fixed if possible.
@@doskungen i just had a look , the 605 seems to have a pretty standard alps transport ? Nothing too complicated Please drop me an email cassettedeckrepair@gmail.com
that is not what i was told / taught in japan when i was trained to repair decks ? belts shouldnt need a 'break in' period as there's nothing to break in ? if they stretch in the first few minutes i would order new belts as they are crappy belts , furthermore FF and REW doesnt do anything to the belts as FF / REW is done by the idler tire and reel motor (in most quality decks)
@@cassettedeck-walkman-repair Yes the new ones is good as hell. Not exactly perfect but good enough for any intended use, and they are new. Like not a box full of dry capacitors and rotten solder joints.. Get it?
@@stighenningjohansen the quality of modern deck is absolutely subpar with W&F 10x as bad as old decks, and they cannot be improved. thats why old decks are still in demand no matter what the cost
I had one of these bought brand new, it was Denons best at the time and very high quality, loved it.
These are very good decks , thanks for sharing

i noticed the rather crude but very effective rotary , led and optocoupler , its a good system and should assist preventing eating tapes
I love this channel. Cassettes are now coming back in popularity, and this information will be highly sought after.

I have two! Fantastic deck in my opinion! Especially the display!!! I've never had a problem with either one.
Good to know!

I enjoy working on cassette decks as well. Never came across a mechanism like that. Really interesting! Great video as always! 👍

Hi. Great video. Congrats. A question: what kind of tape you use for a playback level adjustment? Regads. Krisz
thank you for your kind words , the link to the test tapes are in the video description : Cassette test tapes : ebay.us/fpTg1k

they are good decks , but indeed the transport is , compared to others , not the easiest for belt replacing

Shouldn't you fast foreword & rewind a C-90 min tape a few times to break the belts in before you adjust the speed?

@@cassettedeck-walkman-repair I see ok but todays belts are made in China so quality would not be as good as back then. Thanks.
Forgot azimuth alignment...?
It was done and checked but i think i missed it on the video or buried in the fast fwd part, my apologies
