  • U.S. Soccer Technical Staff selected 58 players players for a three-day camp that focused on identifying the most talented players in the ’00 and ’01 birth year that appear to be on a later physical development growth path and/or are born in the second half of the year, to reduce the impact of physical maturity and relative age effect on identification and evaluation of talent.

Now i wonder. What happens to the players who bloom when they get older? What if a player was rubbish when he was 14/15 but becomes a amazing player when he is 17/18 and still can improve a lot? What happens then?

That is a very fair point. There will still be scouts looking for players then.. Also if they really wanted it they would make an effort to be noticed, we are in the age of the internet.

Good point. They always seem to look for younger players because they can develop through time but there are so many good 18/19/20 year olds who go unnoticed because of their age.

Thing I don't like is is that it's only 3 days, i know it will be a gruesome 3 days ,but the first one will have to see how well you can handle playing with random kids who vary in technical, physical, and most importantly tactics.
That being said, will you make the team based on how well you played at the trial or how well you can fit into the coaches philosophy? It seems small but can be important.

1:20 Also it really a play makes my skin crawl when he says that if there was a world class player that they would find him there, what if they already passed on him during the selection period? What if he blooms late(not physically) in terms of understanding the game? Most important, what if he didn't get a shot to be scouted cause he wasn't a part of a big team or school? Because I can almost guarantee you that almost all of these kids play in a big team in there area.

Cell7767 If a player blooms late in any way you would move to the 'big club' team in your area when that happens. You have to work at getting noticed too. You can't claim to be great but only play in your backyard or at a small area club. There are many ways for you to be seen. Go compete!

Ok, so that's for all the rich kids. What do the kids with great talent and not a lot of money do?

This is a wonderful and much needed program. Is there also one in place for girls like in Germany?

This is very good for not only the players but for the national team too, when you scout talented players at a younger age you are given more time to help them and train them too be what you think there potential is and beyond.

Zlatan grew from 15-16 to when he was 17-19.He wasn't considered the biggest talent at 15-16,even being the last in the group when it came to being considered for the first team at Malmo FF. Us Soccer, some guys aren't going play for the big clubs you usually scout because they cost too much.Other countries dig deep.We have to as well.

Uwais Farooq Join Houstonians FC, non profit soccer club. A great club where money is NOT the issue. My son played there and ended up at the Houston Dynamo Academy.

Brayth what I learned from lacrosse scouting is to make a highlight video to send to coaches that may not have the ability to come out and see you
