My stereo goes to 11! Great assessment, Wahoo! You handled it perfectly! I’ve had a couple deals gone bad but fortunately, EBay had my back! Another great one, take care, my friend 👍❤️
Thanks man! I really appreciate that. I always want to turn it up to 11 haha. Aso, I'm glad ebay has come through for you in bad deals. I've always found them to be fair to me as well.
I remember getting a copy of X-men #101 (Phoenix) and it was mailed in a jiffy bag with, no bag, no card of any sort 🤔. Turns out he was a vinyl record seller and he had no idea about comics grading or preservation. I left it with a comment to the effect of 'how would you feel if someone sent you a '45 with the same level of care?'
Geez Louise that's crazy. I'm always shocked at how sellers risk having to refund dozens/hundreds/thousands of dollars just to save a buck or two on packing costs. Wild.
@wahoocomics absolutely, there is a flip side to that though. Those with no idea tend to be where the real bargains are found. Of course then there's the flip of the flip where people are convinced there beat up nothing bronze age books are worth $100 each 😄
Thankfully I did. A couple of years ago I got burnt buying an ASM 13 that I later found out had a couple of missing pages, so I make sure to count them all on any pricey book these days lol. You live you learn!
Great video. Sounds like a real pain but at least it sounds like things were cordial. $50 shipping??? lol hopefully he takes your tips to heart. Great job and thanks for sharing. Be well. 🤙
I didn't hear you say whether you asked to see the receipt. I would've asked to see the receipt. I wonder if they added signature confirmation and insurance and because the guy probably walked in with just the comics they probably sold him a box and packing tape... crazy stuff I've seen people walk into USPS like that and completely get taken advantage of. Nice of you to give him $10 more. I take it the 181 has the pin up? I would've been concerned it was incomplete.
I forgot to mention this but yeah I saw the receipt. It was 33.68 for Ground Residential (is UPS usually that high?!?!?!), 7.97 for a box, 4.19 for packing materials, 3.09 for packing services (they charged him to pack the box!) plus tax on materials. They totally took advantage of him. Makes me wonder if the associates get a commission on upcharges? Also, yes, it has the pinup. I got burnt on an ASM 13 a couple of years ago that was missing pages so now I make sure to confirm older, expensive books are complete before paying for them now haha
@wahoocomics I knew it. That's the only way I could see the cost being that high. They totally took advantage of him. Idk where he was shipping from but if it was California even then that's way too high especially for something no more than 2lbs max in box with a ton of packing material.

Jeez! Sounds like this was his first-ever online transaction 😮 Glad everything worked out for both parties 😊
I know right? You’d think when the UPS worker said $50 then he’d say “hold on here just a minute…” 🤣🤣🤣

@ agree 100%. Those are the type of sellers that I tend to buy from but it’s high risk high reward haha
You have to be careful with those old schools
You got that right!
Everything out there is a 9.9....😂
I know, right?!?!?! 🤣🤣🤣
Id a said no sir you pay shipping
That's probably what I should've done but I'm too much of a softie haha
Before you sent payment, did you check if that 181 has the pin-up?
Thankfully I did. A couple of years ago I got burnt buying an ASM 13 that I later found out had a couple of missing pages, so I make sure to count them all on any pricey book these days lol. You live you learn!
Glad it all worked out and you added a great book to the PC!
Thanks! And, yep, I guess all's well that ends well haha
I search the yellow pages 📃 😮
Gotta get your hunting grind on lol
It's a 9.9!! Haha 😄
Ridiculous 🤣🤣🤣

Thanks! And, yeah, he's not going to make any money if he doesn't change things up haha
Super cool sharing, best wishes to you ❤❤❤👍
Thank you! I appreciate the kind words!

@ agree 100%. How many people do they do this kind of thing to? It’s a shame
I'm sure I would have done much the same as you. Good Karma is sure to come back to you and make up for the extra you paid this time.
Thanks, and yeah, I definitely believe you reap what you sow!
