Parking sensors in a smart car? If you need parking sensors on that you shouldn't be driving

One of my work colleagues reversed over his dog that walked behind his old BMW , Maybe they are a good idea for safety reasons as some cars have terrible rear visibility .
stewiecee1234 you could stick your hand out the window as a parking sensor if your that blind . If your back windscreen steams up you can just wipe it off 😂😂

To be fair I owned a smart car and I struggled to park it sometimes because it feels a lot bigger inside than the actual car is

I really do like this new Smart car, probably would never buy one but I do like it.
Sums up my opinion perfectly. I'd love to have a go in one, but I'd never want to actually own one.

+appelpower1 I live in a mid-size town and still don't see many. The only ones I see are "customer experience vehicles" from the Mercedes dealership around the corner from my house.

Someone didn't do their research, this is the 3rd generation
Yes I classed it as the 3rd version. My son had the 451 (2nd gen) and 453 (3rd gen). We use a mechanic who has 3 450’s but today he said one of them was a second generation which was confusing 😂 I think it must be a facelift of the 1st gen one.
Own one of these. 3 point turns are a thing of the past. Can hold its own on the motorway no problem. The boot lid has a compartment within for extra storage.

Yer, but the problem is, they're similar money, and you get a much nicer interior on the up, and I may wait till next year and get the GTI version they'll be bringing out with 140 BHP

While the Smart ForTwo isn't the manliest car, something about it's size makes it look like a joy to drive. The looks have improved as well. I didn't mind the old look, but this new look give it more character. If I ever move to my family in Hungary or live somewhere in Europe, this would be a pretty good pick for a car.
I freaking love my 1st gen 453!!! I live in Georgia where 70mph roads are common, but my little turbo has absolutely not only no problem and leaves almost all other vehicles (especially the spiffy pickups) in the dust at the light. It is a blast to leave Chargers and Mustangs spinning their wheels while I am "down the road" already.

You have an option to have your speedometer in Digital display. (First thing I done when I got mine) Motorway driving is absolutely Normal, doesn't feel any different to any other car. Loving my New Smart.
How do you change it to digital?
Had 2 Smart cars now and they are marvellous cars, wouldn't change to any other now (live uk and am a female school bus driver, so one minute I am driving a manual bus and next an automatic wonderful Smart car) Thank you for this review!

2nd or 3rd gen Smart4two?? All reviewers miss high driving position, stellar LED lights, digital tachometer and totally decent basic functionality. Find it also terrific on the motorway from experience. Really poor review in this vid. The only annoying thing is the rev gauge.
I had an electric 70 plate ioved it but not the price and miles on a charge so soldback to Mercedes now im.picking a black smart for 2 68 plate with 10400 miles only and under 9k bargain car these are absolutely awesome i cant wait to get back in one they are such fun

+mariediane Agius I'm mechanically incline and these cars have a very poor design . For example to change a thermostat on this car is a nightmare not to mention they cost $300.00. The starter, try to find a rebuilt starter because the new ones are just crazy expensive. The starter is very very badly designed , they can't last the cables are exposed so the corrosion set in and you have to change the whole starter. If you could get brushes for the starter then you could change the cables but never the less who in the world would have such a bad design . If the car worked half the time it would not be so bad. I had mind up to 45,000 KM's and was always broken I never seen such a poor design . The other thing is the gas millage a Toyota Yaris as better millage and a much better car. The resale value is worth nothing for these cars. The car it self was fun to drive specially down town parking was a joke. But they are always broken can;t rely on them. Like the rebuilt starters there is hardly none available because they all lose there cables. I guaranty that anyone who as one of these will have starter problem and that;s only the beginning . A SMART car top of the line AC , Blue tuth, mags, gas, passion coup 4 years old 45000 km's $4000.00 and that is in immaculate shape I wouldn't pay $1000.00
IN MY OPINION THIS IS THE WORST CAR ON THE MARKET TODAY. Don't take my word ask anyone who as one for more then five years. The list goes on the actuator is another problem these are not automatic they have an automatic clutch not the same thing.
The older diesel models would heat up in 6th gear . I repair car and this is the worst car out there today. The other thing is when we have certain problems with car we call the dealership for advice and always get it but Mercedes wont give us the time of day.

It has no comparison for a safe city car, quite a bad review. If you don't need this size car why would you look at buying it? 80% of cars have one person, they should tax larger cars much more.
So basically it's a shittier, smaller and more expensive version of the Twingo. Same interior quality, same engines, gearboxes, chassis, etc.

Reverse camera on a smart car? Really? Must really cant park good if you need a reverse camera on a smart car. That car would be an absolute dream to park, especially in the city where other people cant park worth a damn

For its extremly small size it is very safe (compared to other small cars) due to its tridion-cage and the rear ending engine.

I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure even if they recorded this with an iPhone & a Zoom H1, it'll still come out better than this video.
I think a Austin Allegro is a better looking car than this. The new smart has to be one of the ugliest cars ever to leave the design studio. Not only that, the ergonomics are obsolutely terrible, especially having the climate control so far down and hard to see that your eyes are completely off the road while you are driving trying to figure out how to switch on a control!
So it's got a Renault platform and Renault engines... Not as "designed by Mercedes" as they would like to impress upon people then!
Wonder if they sorted out the DCT which was mentioned as horrible in every review of the previous car. Well, at least you can now get the five speed in North America with the new model if the DCT still sucks.
Anyone compared this to an iQ? Ignoring the price difference and the fact that the fortwo has more modern kit (i.e. touchscreen) which has the better ride/gearbox/nvh levels etc.?
Is smart a premium brand???? If it is, theyre kinda lying cause the new smart model was made up with a collab with Renault.
So you better get the Renault version...

Why does the image on this review looks so grainy, bright and kind of "amateurish camera work"?
The camera man must have been doing donuts with Matt because it was kinda shaky in the first quarter and made me a bit motion sick, otherwise I love the videos.

Have you checked out Mercedes asking prices for the new Mk3 Smart.
I recon a VW Up or Skoda City Go look better value for money, and return similar, or better fuel economy than the Smart.
Wish he'd have done the forfour the lady that did that seemed a bit bias and quite frankly wasnt as energetic
I prefer the older Smart's exterior,but I prefer the newer Smart's interior.

I have a mini Cooper but I am really thinking of getting a smart car for my drive to college everyday. My mom is so against my obsessions over smart cars but I can't help it
