Fun fact: This megatron was recalled after several robberies were used using Megatron's gun form. Hasbro was forced to put an age restriction and add a bright orange plastic tip on the end of the barrel on every further release of this toy. Scary how this toy was so realistic looking, it fooled actual people into thinking it was real. He's even banned in several countries due to how realistic he looks. Eventually, Megatron was changed completely and Hasbro made his vehicle mode either a Jet or Tank to avoid lawsuits and bad PR.
Love this toy. I've owned many and refurbished many over the years. A couple builds - 1) for the many original Transformers figures, the toys came before the cartoon, so the toy is not supposed to look like the cartoon. The cartoon is an interpretation of the toy. Hasbro licensed all the original figures from Diaclone and 2) if you want the cool bot look, you put the barrel up on his back, like the cartoon, instead of through the waist. All hail Megatron!

I remember this growing up. compared to most of the muscular looking transformer toys it looked like megatron skipped leg day in the gym. But real talk this was the toy i wanted the most cuz it looked so dam amazing in gun form chromed out

I remember other kids getting them. I got Go Bots...

I own an original. Takara one. It was in lose shape. I refurbished it. Plus I did some customizing too. I have no intention of selling it. So I'm not worried about the value aspect of it. It's looking great tho.

hey! thanks for this. edit for your video tho: the silencer does lock on to the front of the gun but you need to put the little piece on first, then the long piece second.

Lack of footage on how to do it? Look up the commercial for the Japanese toy "Gun Robo P38", the commercial shows the transformation sequence. That's all Megatron is, is a Gun Robo P38 with a different paint job.

Megatron skip legs day
Old video but correct me if I'm wrong wasn't this toy banned at some point? I remember reading somewhere that some kids robbed a convenience store with this toy and caused it to be banned. I read it was why they changed Megatron into a tank rather than a gun.
There was some incident that caused later iterations of Megatron to have an orange barrel I think, or an orange tip. I'll have to google it but only G1 as I remember has the real Walther look and size.
@@LenHere Yeah I think the robbery might be the incident I'm thinking of. I remember reading a long time ago that some kids like robbed a store or something with a G1 Megatron and so they had to run some changes. I always thought they just scrapped the Walther look because of it but I guess they decided to put the orange tip on for awhile. I'll keep searching around for that article I read. I think it was a buzzfeed thing.

It is truly a horrible design in engineering, the way I got a Megatron as a kid is that I traded with a school friend his Megatron for my Soundwave and then my younger brother ended up snapping the chest piece off.
