I truly miss MJ and I'm from Vietnam where it's extremely hard to find any of his albums which are official and if bought, will contribute to the above sales chart. And I do think many fans around the world have the same situation like me. In my opinion, if we count his sales based on both non-official and official sales, the total will be more than 500m records for sure :D. I really believe that "Thriller" has sold more than 66 million copies worldwide and perhaps a LOT more. The people that keep count of record sales have said it is believed that "Thriller" has sold somewhere between 66-120 million copies worldwide. So how is it that they came up with the lowest amount sold possible of 66 million, that sounds suspicious AF to me. Plus I remember some 20-25 years ago where "Thriller" was over 60 million records sold worldwide. I don't know the exact total "Thriller" has sold worldwide as of today, but i'm pretty damn sure it's a good deal more than 66 million records.
I believe that people who truly appreciate music don't concern themselves with how many copies have been sold.

Many artist, or their record companies I should say, extremely exaggerate their sales. Michael nor The Beatles nor Elvis sold anywhere near 1 billion records. That 750 million records people claim Michael sold at the time of his death, was exaggerated by the record label. Michael sold around 330 million records in total as of 2017, which makes him the second biggest selling artist ever, only behind The Beatles, who have more songs and albums. Elvis was thought to be ahead of Michael, but he isn’t when you include everything. Michael sold more studio albums than anyone else in history. People wanted his collective bodies of work. That’s not to say that they didn’t want his singles, because including streaming, “Billie Jean” has sold an estimated 41.9 million copies making it the third best selling single of all time. He is the only artist with three songs in the top 20 best selling singles list. You probably already know all of that though. I digress. You’re right, “Xscape” did sell well over two million, it sold almost three million. If you’re implying it sold a lot more than that, you would be wrong. It also didn’t go #1 on 90 countries. None of his albums did. In fact the album that went #1 in the most countries was a Madonna album and it was in like 30 something countries. I also doubt that “Blood on the Dancefloor” has sold 2 million more copies since 2017. It is however the best selling remix album of all time.

The songs on every album released after his death are chosen by other people, not himself. I think that is the main reason why Xscape for example didn´t sell that well - and of course because Michael isn´t here anymore...
I cried when he died. His music has been my life ever since I was born in the early 80s. Songs from Thriller were my favourites as a toddler.
