Hi Israel. I arrived in Barranquilla yesterday. Your video helped convince me to visit here. I don't like very touristy cities and Barranquilla feels like a place in which tourism isn't everywhere. It's a very real Colombian city where people's lives don't revolve around tourism. I'll be here for a few more days and hopefully I'll have a better idea of the city by the time I leave.

I enjoyed everything and have a new perception of Colombia now that I visited - it's not as dangerous as people think! I do regret going to San Andreas because it is limited what you can do there and it's a bit too touristy. Next time I'll go to Medillin instead or Barranquilla! Hi Israel. I love your channel (and you!). I've been to Colombia four times and I know five cities Bogotá, Medellín, Cali, Cartagena and Popayán. I want to return to Colombia in 2024 and I'm looking for a new city. I also heard that Barranquilla was "boring" but I often prefer cities that are real and not touristy. For me Cartagena is too touristy. Everything there is about tourism and one visit for me was enough. I love Medellín but it's become too popular with digital nomads. Thanks to your video Barranquilla might be an option next time. I like the idea of a city that tourists haven't discovered yet. The mid-sized city of Popayán is not one of the more popular cities for international tourism but I liked it a lot. Now I'll check your Instagram to see what you have about the city on there.
Thank you Joseph ☺️ yes I didn’t like Medellin that much as I thought I would. People rave about that city so my expectations where to high I think. The opposite happened with Barranquilla. I had very low expectations because a lot of people told me it was boring but it turned out to be one of my favorite cities. It was definitely the cleanest city and the area where I stayed reminded me of Fort Lauderdale in Florida (the Colombian version) People in Barranquilla are so friendly and I made some friends there. If i went back to Colombia I would only repeat Cartagena and Barranquilla 🤩
Thank you for showing my beautiful Barranquilla. Have not been there since 2010.. El centro and el sur are totally different but you were in the nice area. Good luck with everything you do my friend.

Looks very nice and modern,. I’m from the USA and thought about retiring down there.. what do you think? I speak a little Spanish so I don’t know if that is a factor?
I am a gringo part Colombian, but live in the USA. The best cities for retirement is Medellin, Cali, and Barranquilla. There are loads of American expats living there. I suggest you google one of their sites where they can offer pointers. My fav city was Medellin, which is known as the city of eternal spring; truly a modern cosmopolitan city nestled in a large valley from part of the Andes. They have the only modern metro in the country and a large number of fairly inexpensive rental condos. BAQ and CTG are on the coast and is always hot. And in the rainy season, it rains buckets for weeks nonstop and aguaceros (look it up on RUclips) in BAQ due to the lack of street gutters, literally come roaring down the streets taking cars and buses and pedestrians away. If you want to be near Sin City, it is CTG. there is nothing you can't buy there, and I mean NOTHING!
