The Colombian architects really appear to have a great taste. I've seen so many awesome places there (online). Better than anything I've seen in Europe or the US, and very affordable in comparison.
Colombia is my Country and it never fails to amaze me, the number of foreigners coming to live here is suprising, it's true there are some areas in the country where you´d rather not live due to social issues and violence, but Medellin and its surrounding towns are safe for the most part and beautiful too... just use common sense like you would do in any other city in the world and you´ll be good... if you´re a visitor and you need a word of advice about life in Medellin my homecity I´d be glad to help
Colombia is becoming gentrified. Americans will hopefully believe the American propaganda and stay away.
I visited Pereira for 5 days and fells in love with the place, I Bought a 1400 sq ft apartment for under 200k in the nicest area of the city. Has a over sized balcony with a hot tub over seeing the mountains. You can’t beat cost of living there compare to the US.
If you paid to close to 200k I think you over paid for the square footage.
@Vicky Noname true my friend bought a 5 bedroom apartments in medellin for 140 . It's almost like a penthouse. 200k sounds like he got scam 🤣

200k is overpriced and overpaid
My father in law if from there. I'm glad its not overran with gringos like Medellin is! And it has so many places outside the city to visit and explore. But I can also speak the language which is a plus.

@randymillhouse791 Let's be honest here the minorities know it's usually the older senior or young professional White American crowd who actually have plenty of money and resources to buy whatever they want that choose those places because they want something for nothing so they can still feel like their living in luxury. They don't mind living around the locals if it means they can still live like Upper class. Just like in the stated in poor areas that get gentrification.

The price def depends on where you live in colombia. I live in Villavicencio. I have a house with 2 floors. 5bdrooms, 2 bath, garage and balcony and it costs 260 a month usd. This same house in medellin will probably cost about 1k now a days

@wavnino it's safe but it's colombian AF you ll need to have decent spanish . Rarely do you see expats or foreigners in Villavicencio

The view is worth the price you pay but everyone loves a dreamer, that apartment /condo is at least 2500.00 a month plus utility and food, and plans are afoot to move down and retire in Colombia, thx for this insight .
If you want to move to Colombia you need to make money online. And I prove everything to do that. Some of you might have to fix your personal credit first but it will be worth it.

Colombia is so beautiful I'm just worried about safety for myself and my girlfriend.
I’ve been 3 times , 1 time alone & twice with my wife .. there is actually nothing to be afraid of . I would even take my kids there now that they’re teenagers..
Panama belize & Mexico has much more aggressive street dealers.
Plus Colombia has a “tourist police” that are everywhere & always very helpful.
Don't be afraid or believe what others say or what they have experienced. Use common sense, and you'll be fine. Traveled alone and have been here going on two months will be here until June then coming right back in August to stay permanently.
Been here thirteen years, not one issue, one helluva lot safer than the US right now.

I'd say the landscape and weather of that area in Columbia matches best with Northern California. Considering that you're about an hour outside of a major city, I'd compare it to somewhere like San Ramon, CA (about an hr away from San Francisco). If we compared the price of a unit like that in a suburb of a major city in California, it would probably run you about $3000 a month.
I'm thinking about going to school for an associate degree of some sort, so I can get a nice high paying digital Nomad job. I'm tired of working my ass off, just to live paycheck to paycheck in a broke down 1 bedroom apartment.

Hey man what an amazing apartment with an astonishing view. Makes me really curios if the area has al the basic needs for a westerners lifestyle. Like is there a decent gym in the area and do they sell stuff like soy milk in the grocery store? Also I wonder how to rent such a place. Would be glad for some information. :)

Is there enough to do in that little town so you don’t get bored ? So 15-20 minute drive into town so you would need a car. We are retired and want a walkable city so we don’t need a car. We are kind of looking at Manizales.
We are currently living in Nicaragua.

Here in New York that apartment would be 20k per month
This apartment without the view, on average, in the US would be more like $3k.
Add a view that's comparably stunning and you're at least doubling that.
I live in Missouri and rent is below average here. There apartment in my city would be in the $2k-2.5k but no great view

Price is good but you are not in Medellin and you will need car, or you will have to spend a lot of money taking cab. Place is amazing though.
How is the internet speed outside the city? Could be a great spot for remote work if there are no connection issues.

$250 USA is over a billion Colombian dollars. The average income is $10 a day. I believe an apartment on a mountain in the USA is more than $2000. New York City is $10,000 a month for something like that.

You talking about air b and b $2000 a month. There is no way you are only paying 700 a month long term rental. And Puerto Rico is so much more expensive. So this doesn’t add up.
