I also made mine. I followed their instructions and used the lavender along with the blood orange. The lavender was too strong, so I added lemon. Next time I will follow your advice and add just the blood orange. I put mine in with the detergent because I have a front loader. I use unscented detergent, so it added a nice smell. I use the wool laundry balls to eliminate static in the dryer. I really like the essential oil kits and can’t wait to get this months. 😃. Thank you for introducing them to us. Cindi
Hi Kelly! Great receipe! Thank you! When using essential oils you will want to use metal instead of plastic. The oils transfers into the plastics, and you cant get the oils out.
Kelly Thank You!! But For clarification .. I don't have a newer washer, so a bit confused ;) Do you add this at the beginning of the wash load while adding the water? Or some where where you would add the "Downy" ? . Thanks again!
SimplyJoyful This concoction produces hard water, releasing magnesium sulfate. Magnesium reacts with residual soaps and water softeners. It should be avoided.
@@FrankGutowski-ls8jt hey Frank...since you seem knowledgeable on this topic, will baking soda have the same effect? Is there another natural carrier I could put essential oils into to add to the laundry that wont make the water hard?
Today is laundry day.. I'll be making a smaller batch of this to see how I like it. I'm out of fabric softener so this was perfect! Thank you for sharing
I tried every recipe out including this one and with either my water or my washing machine it just did not work. My husband complained for over a year until I changed back to the chemicals. I was hoping it was a new recipe so I could go back to doing my own laundry detergent and fabric softener.
Years ago I had read in a magazine that if you do a light wash of brand new dark or bright colored clothing and use salt that it would help set the color and help prevent bleeding of colors. Do you think Epsom Salts does the same thing? Does the Epsom Salts act as a softening agent as well? Thanks for the video. Diane Whiting.
Hi Kelly I just went and made this thanks lol.. Do you make your own dishwasher soap also? If not I'm sharing my simple recipe with you. 1c washing soda 1/4 c salt 1/2 c citric acid 40 drops lemon EO I won't go back to store bought again 😊 Belinda
Going to try this one for sure, I’ve been waiting on it!! I love Citrus Scents, but the softener sheets in stores ALWAYS smell like some disgusting floral mix!! Sometimes they aren’t terrible, but when you are used to great smelling shampoo & conditioner, using a mixed floral towel right out of the shower is just....😝 Here are Alli & Kayla’s usual!! 🤗💜😘
So I made this, this weekend and my clothes smelled ok but not like the blood orange. I read this line and seen if you have an older washer to add it the time you would add fabric soften. So I will try that. I was wondering what name of oil did you use company name.
@@FrankGutowski-ls8jt Hey Gutowski, instead of going around trying to degrade people with your ridiculous comments, why not try being a man and educate them instead? TL: DR Don't be a d*ck.
Just wanted to say you're awesome! Essential oils are so versitle. Thanks for all the wonderful ideas 😊❤ Used the Murphy's oil soap the other day and it worked AMAZING!
This sounds lovely. Would live to add to a bath with another scent. I hate my hard water so much. I am loving your utube channel & signed up my hubby. He likes that your daughter's are just as creative.

The Center Stage Studio - Front Desk She’s clueless. Epsom salt contains magnesium which hardens water, producing soap scum. Avoid this recipe. It may be a prank!
Can't believe I missed this when it came out. Ghezzz. I started getting the simply earth when you first showed I. I have 2 boxes I haven't even opened. I been busy redoing and painting rooms. 🤪
It never occurred to me to use epson salt.... I use tea tree oil in ours because it helps disinfect/odor control, because I have to use allergy free soaps and I can be a bit germafobic. Lol.
Are you serious? Is this a prank? It’s magnesium sulfate. Magnesium is a hard water contaminant. Interferes with soap and detergents. Reacts with water softeners. Creates soap scum. The opposite of a booster. Completely ridiculous. It’s hard to believe you’re serious! This deserves to be featured as a YT clueless housewife classic.

You were pranked. This makes water hard. Absolutely avoid this nonsense.
Can I do this with my perfume oil?
Diy laundry soap is cheap and keeps your laundry soft. Insects hate peppermint so I use it in summer to repel insects in the diy salt fabric softener.
It’s cheap because recipes are ridiculously dilute.
Hi Kelly! Great receipe! Thank you! When using essential oils you will want to use metal instead of plastic. The oils transfers into the plastics, and you cant get the oils out.
I read that epsom salts makes the water hard, the soap less effective and fades clothes.
Even though this could probably work quite well in a bath. Just epsom salts and essential oils so it should be fine for skin.
Chriscom28
Correct. She’s clueless.

I can't seem to get the scent to last through the dryer. It smells when it comes out of the washer but loses the smell while being dried.
This is a real plus for me, seems my laundry has no smell. I love the smell of fresh laundry. TYFS. your a doll.

will this mess up or stain clothes?
Hi, thank you because I didn't know they had such a thing either. I will be trying this
You should try to make your own laundry soap. All natural and it leaves clothes clean and fresh. Also budget friendly. Love your channel
Can i use sea salt?
Today is laundry day.. I'll be making a smaller batch of this to see how I like it. I'm out of fabric softener so this was perfect! Thank you for sharing
Kelly, great idea! Question, do the Epsom salts soften your laundry? I usually use a Snuggle scent booster pod along with my fabric softener.
It’s ridiculous. Hardens water. Produces soap scum. Avoid!!!
We’re did you get your owl at I collect them and that one is so pretty.
I tried every recipe out including this one and with either my water or my washing machine it just did not work. My husband complained for over a year until I changed back to the chemicals. I was hoping it was a new recipe so I could go back to doing my own laundry detergent and fabric softener.
It contains magnesium, a hard water contaminant, that’s why you had problems. She’s clueless.
what is the shelf life for it?
Hi thank you for sharing, where can I purchase the oil? ❤️
You want to buy high quality essential oils, but they're sold in many places. I usually order from Amazon.
So easy to make. What name brand essential oils do you recommend? 👍
Sally Rodriguez I use simply earth essential oil I have a coupon code in the description box if your interested

Hi, Kelly. I would love to try this. The oil won't stain the clothes?
Trish Hinkle the Epsom salt absorbs the oil I haven’t had any problems at all!
Wow! That’s so easy. I don’t like the fake scents from detergent or softener, so this is perfect! Tfs
Thank you great idea
Perfect--I will try this in my laundry 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
I tried this. My epsom salts smelled so good, but when the load was done there was no smell. Don't know what went wrong.
It contaminates everything with magnesium!
Can't wait to give this a try. I will let you know how it comes out. Thank you I love your channel.
Thx kelly
I definitely going to try it! Thanks Kelly
No chance of the oil transferring onto the clothes? I worry about spots of oil 😳
Teri B the Epsom salt absorbs the oil
So far, I've never had a problem. And I think my clothes, sheets, and towels have even come out cleaner.
this is pretty awesome. gotta give it a try.
