I'm currently getting into the real meat of the grind in this game and after fighting a wyvern and witnessing my main pawn just walking around and doing nothing I immediately went to research pawn inclinations cuz I was not having it. • @Gemmalady
      @Gemmalady  2 года назад +1

      I'm glad this clarified things for you. IMO a Sorcerer pawn should never be Scather primary--this means they prioritize the strong enemies, which seems like a good thing until you realize, "uh, hold on now!" Scather pawns tend to charge in front of the Arisen and stand rather close to enemies when they begin to cast. This behavior opens them up to be interrupted, so they feather jump away, but then move right back in close where it all begins again. This behavior makes it hard for them to get in a solid cast, and the whole time you are left wondering why they aren't 'doing their job.'
      My recommendation for sorcerer pawns is either (a) Utilitarian-Challenger-Mitigator-Medicant if their bestiary is 95% or better; (b) Challenger-Utilitarian-Mitigator-Medicant or (c) Mitigator-Challenger-Utilitarian-Medicant if it is not. This way they will use solid tactics when running with you, better yet if you hire a pawn with similar spells (only Bolide, Fulmination, Gicel, Seism, and Maelstrom can be spell-sync'd) and they do not all have to be the same version ie "regular, " "high," or "grand."
      Hope this helps you!!

    Sorry but that was really unclear. What does 9-7-5-3 actually do? How do I know what to buy for each?

    • @Gemmalady
      @Gemmalady  2 года назад +6

      Inclinations are actually based on a numerical value, with 1000 being the highest, and 0 being the lowest value. The midpoint would then be, 500. What you are trying to accomplish is set the primary to be at 1000, with the 4th inclination coming in above 500. In terms of behavior for the pawn, the first inclination, or highest value, is the way the pawn would behave first. Generally speaking, the secondary inclination, would have a value of 850, the third value, around 650, and the fourth value would sit at 550. I did testing for many of the different "combinations" people have recommended or used throughout the history of the game, or that I could find posted on gamefaqs, Steam forums, PS4 Communities, and Reddit--in another video.
      In terms of behavior, since the game reads code based on these numerical values, the player would want the most desired behavior to sit at the highest numerical value. Generally speaking the secondary inclination would be how the pawn would behave if the first behavior has been acted upon, the third is a distant behavior, and the fourth acts more like a placeholder. This does not get rid of ALL behaviors, just prioritizes how you want the pawn to behave in any given situation.
      Ok, so how to know how much to buy for each?
      You would buy 9 potions for the first inclination, 7 for the second inclination, 5 for the third inclination, and 3 for the 4th inclination. The 4th inclination is unseen, and acts more like a placeholder, to keep all the unwanted behaviors at or below 500.
      You would then take the potions in reverse order: 3, 5, 7, 9.
      For example, let's say I have a Ranger pawn that I want to be a Challenger-Utilitarian-Scather. I look under the Pawn's profile and see that in reality she is a Scather-Challenger. If I sit in the Knowledge Chair, I then find out that she is a Utilitarian. I could swap her third and second, but this does not solve the main issue that he/she is Scather primary, and maybe I do not want that behavior first.
      So, I would buy 9 Challenger potions, 7 Utilitarian potions, 5 Scather potions, and (in my case, I'd probably) buy 3 Medicant potions. So then I would take them in reverse order, 3 - 5 - 7 - 9. Upon opening the pawn profile menu again I would NOW see that her inclinations have all been reset to those I prefer. I would not be able to see her 4th however. Again the 4th acts like a "placeholder", keeping all the undesired behaviors at or below 500.
      It is thought that enemies have a much bigger EFFECT on pawn behavior than we knew in 2012-13, so what eventually happens--especially if you are playing a lot of BBI--the inclination NUMERICAL VALUES WILL DECAY, WHILE OTHERS WILL INCREASE. This is also due to player actions in the game. Thus, at some point, it is worth checking to see that those inclinations I prefer in the first and second slot are still there. If not, she would get a refresh, and I would use the potions again.

    So, let me know if my understanding is correct.
    You take 9 potion for the primary inclination you want, 7 for the secondary, 5 for the tertiary and 3 for the last one. BUT you drink all the 3 for the forth inclination at the beginning, then all the 5 for the tertiary, then all the 7 for the secondary and lastly all the 9 for the primary.

    can you help me? I have a warrior pawn (not the best...I know) that just runs back and forth in combat and sometimes throw random items like skulls or oil flasks at the opponents instead of attacking! Sometimes he doesn't even draw his weapon untlil the combat is halfway done! I don't know what to do!
    His primary inclination is Challenger, the secondary is Scather and third Pioneer.
    He joins combat WAY too late for him to be useful, and when I switched him to fighter he does the same thing but lags behind collecting useless stuff. I'm only level 45 but most of my bestiary is 2/3 stars because I explore a lot.

    • @Gemmalady
      @Gemmalady  Год назад +1

      Yes, I can help! Warriors and Fighters should never be Challengers, period. See my video on building a good Warrior pawn for the reasons why.
      Second, any pawn, even great ones, will throw things that are in the “tools” menu. Except their lantern. So double check that part of their Inventory before a big fight! The only thing they won’t throw are arrows
      Third, sounds like AQUISITOR is very high in your pawn’s inclinations! So here’s my suggestion.
      Set your pawn up as a Mitigator/Scather/Utilitarian/Pioneer.
      That means you will buy 9 Mitigator potions, 7 Scather potions, 5 Utilitarian potions,and 3 Pioneer potions. Then take them in reverse order: so start with the 3 Pioneer, then take 5 Utilitarian potions, then the 7 Scather potions, and finally the 9 Mitigator potions.
      Your pawn should then start to target the trash mobs in the room, and any other non-flying, non-perching, or ranged enemies-on their way to taking out the big enemy (which is usually a Scather enemy, btw).
      The reason your pawn seemed to be running around doing nothing is because it was only doing what it was set up to do, which was target enemies it neither had the skill nor weaponry to tackle. Those types of enemies are best left to Striders/Rangers/Mages/Sorcs because they have ranged weaponry and ranged skills.
      See if that helps!! Also, don’t pick anything up while in combat-he’s ‘learning’ that from you. Also, don’t give pawn commands unless it’s really REALLY desperate! Let me know how it works out!! 😀

    • @Gemmalady
      @Gemmalady  6 месяцев назад +1

      As you’re leveling up it’s ok to change, but use logic. If you want a Fighter/Warrior/Ranget/Strider pawn then I’d stick within the physical vocations as you level them up.
      If mage or Sorcerer pawn-you can start them as a Fighter to give them DEF, but stick to magic classes.
      Use the Stat calculator to figure out what type of pawn you want BUT-core Magic on Strength builds for pawns are a wasted stat-unless you’re looking for more MDEF. Same can be said for MAG builds-core STR is wasted.
      Those are my opinions on the matter.

    • @Gemmalady
      @Gemmalady  Год назад +2

      @@ianbraun271 Ah! Ok, pawns gathering items (during battle) just means that the inclinations were set up incorrectly. Acquisitor prime pawns do just that-instead of focusing on the issue at hand they will begin to gather items as soon as they drop from enemies. Including stopping attacking/buffing/healing to do so. I’ve even seen Pioneer pawns-who tend to roam about, do that.
      Outside of battle some pawns (again usu Acquisitor or Pioneer) will focus on loot.
      When I agree to take someone’s pawn for a run (not just killing Death for RC, mind) I check inclinations. I also check rings (are they wearing skill rings best-suited for their class/skills?); augments (do those match up with skills/inclinations/rings?); then I look at the rest.
      In the case of certain vocations, specific inclinations are best suited for their skills. For example, I’d never have a Ranger pawn be a Scather/Challenger or even Challenger/Scather. You want them using their longbow to its optimal advantage; daggers are secondary. Plus they’re just average speed climbers. And they shouldn’t have too many skills. See where I’m going?
      Do optimized pawns climb anyway (esp on BBI)? Yes, but that’s not the player’s fault per se. There’s a broken code sequence left over from the devs when they’d contemplated armoring the dire dragons-which pawns and/or Arisen could then “knock off.”
      Additionally many BBI enemies **induce** climbing because they’re Scather enemies; a few examples include dire dragons, poisoned undead, and Condemned Gorecyclopes.
      Hope this helps you understand a bit more about the pawn system; good ones are optimized, and their owners pay attention to all the factors. Before you hire, or even revamp your own, check out all factors I stated above. Oh and watch my Ultimate Pawn build guides for more info!
      Glad you stopped by!! 😉
