Yo it’s almost been a year trying this combo and lemme tell y’all it is a BEAST
Ethan Q. Heck yah bro!!
Sup
Hey would u suggest this
Can you give us an update? Looking to get into fishing!! I won’t to buy quality, but I can’t spend too much rn. Looking for a good balance
Sean Brownrigg what’s your budget for a combo? And are you looking for spinning or baitcast
I owned three cherrywood HD rods, and broke all of them in the past 5 years, so sad. But I have to say the rod is really sensitive, easy to cast far, and light weighted. My first choice to go outside. Just be careful not to throw sinkers heavier than marked on the rod.
My most expensive rod is about 100 euros and reel is 70 euros. I just wanted to have 1 good quality heavy rod for a pike. But normaly i have my second rod and reel combo it cost about 60euros all together and it works. That might be considered to some people as super cheap but to me it is a high end and a big step up from what i used as a kid, wooden stick with a line and hook on the end.
The beginning was so sad 😭
Vamp Groonom I laughed my ass off lol
I know right
It's what reality is. Life is sad.
It makes it more sad how relatable it is 😂
I love this video. As consumers we are constantly told to spend more and more money on our hobbies, whether its fishing, cooking, golfing whatever. Its just not necessary to spend top dollar for everything these days.
Thanks for putting this together
Just ordered two of the rods, I’m tired of paying $50-$70 for spinning rods that seem to break every year.
I've used the same rod and reel for five years now and it works every single time
For me ugly stick GX2 is the best all around
Ugly Stick elite 7' medium 2 piece
I love this vid because it fits me perfact. I have no income to buy new stuff. All my fishing stuff came from yard sells. I have never had or tried to use a bait caster.
6'6 ugly stick medium action.spin cast rod. With any decent spin cast reel. Great combo. Will never break. Have two HD Cherrywood medium heavy Baitcaster's with Quantum Pulse Bait caster reel's. Great cheap combo's. 12pd mono on spincast. 30 pd braid on baitcasters. Shawn
Dude these cheap combo and budget angler vids r so helpful. I have the cherrywood and it’s really good but it gets floppy once you use it a lot.
Thomas Lundell This is actually good to know. I bought this rod as a combo with an Abu Garcia reel that had a rebate at Dick’s. I don’t care for the rod. I prefer a more sensitive rod. Hopefully it will loosen up with use.
Funny story, I got that rod to go with an Abu Garcia baitcaster.(I didn’t know the difference between a spinning and baitcaster rod) and I figured I’d bend the rings to stop rubbing against the rings. Not gonna lie it works pretty good🤣
Diawa crossfire 2500 ($25 usd )
Berkley hd cherrywood medium 6’6 ($25)
A $50 combo that handles like a 500$ one , it’s out standing. It’s my main spinning combo. 100% would recommend. Also , I’ve used it for a year plus and still all handles like new.
Good video and thanks for helping folks find good cheap equipment. Most reels under $50.00 don;t last under hard use. Have had some that I just trashed after 6-12 months. I fish 3-5 times a week and have found that $80.00 to $100.00 reels with stay smooth and trouble free longer. Have many reels from the 90's that I'm still using today. You get what you pay for. Save money buy better reels and spend less in the long run.
Hello.
So i'm 12 years old, and for my birthday i'm going to Walmart to get a decent spinning reel. (combo or separate rod/reed, idk yet)
Trust me, for a 12 yr/old, I've done my research on some good rods/reels.
Since i'm more of a beginner, I've had my eyes on this one combo called the "Ugly stik GX2 combo". I hear it's 50$ for the combo.
So i know the rod is good, but the reel..
I think it seems good, but some people say it's bad, some people say its good. More people say it's good than bad, but some of the issues the people have had with negative thoughts on the reel seemed to have some pretty concerning issues. Some guy I've seen had his bail break in a pretty short amount of time. Another person kept getting wind knots every time he casted it.
Some people said that they have never had an issue with it.
So i want your opinion: should i get the rod/reel combo for the GX2, or should i get the rod separately from the reel? (Not sure if you've used this rod/combo or not, but if you have, please respond.[also if you HAVE used it before, can you tell me some pros/cons about the reel?]) Thank you :)
The rod separate would be the best choice.
The reel that it came with broke on me while fishing for pinfish
Rod is great I have three of them the reels suck I would get the rod and then get an shimano ix 2000 I think they are $15 and they are saltwater approved as well
Im not gonna lie and i dont often comment but FORREAL the red berkley rod is THE best rod you can buy from walmart and imnot joking i used it for ocean and freshwater. Caught big bass and decent snooks, pompano, big spanish macks, and used the rod for about 5 years and it still looks brand spankin new. All my other rods stopped working or gave problems but this berkley had its own reel as well. The reel never gave problems and boy do I love it. Sorry for this long message.
Best cheap all around combo I've owned is a Daiwa sweepfire 4000 ($20) and matching Sweepfire 6'6" medium spinning rod. It's far from my " best" setup but dang blasted if I haven't caught pretty much everything I fish for with it! No problems and all in for $40.
I’ve got a sweep fire rod with a zebco spyn I got for $10. Works great
Great general tips. I'm in the just don't want to spend all that much category. Would rather spend my $ in good line and lures & bait so I have a variety to try.
Hope you Guys Enjoy this Vid!
TightLineTV I thought the first part was funny
enjoyed.. well done
TightLineTV you are very cool I am thinking about getting this set up now I just have to save up and I will
TightLineTV Yea we did
TightLineTV check Instagram DM plz
I like picking up old spinning reels at Goodwill or the pawn shop. I try to stick to name brands like older Daiwas, Shimanos, Shakespeare, etc... Some of my combos are
I have cherrywood rods and the other I've had great luck with are the Shakespere Durango rods. Have a few of those from a lot of different years of purchase. They have been fantastic for the price point ( under 15 bucks).
I destroyed my sleep schedule to binge watch all of ur how to and cheapest videos
Love ur vids man
Great video! Watched it a few days ago, went to Walmart and bought a Berkley HD Cherrywood rod, and paired it up with my Okuma Trio reel (which I had on a GLoomis rod). After catching several bass I can say that I'm very impressed with this rod! Then today I found the Outdoor Angler reels on clearance for $10, and I bought 2. I had seen them before, but assumed they were garbage, esp since the package is sealed and you can't try them out in the store... BUT... after opening them, I realized that they are super smooth, and there's no play in the anti-reverse.. Cant wait to try them out on the water! I'll likely buy a few more for future use. Thanks for the great vid!
Steve Thornton Fishing no prob man. Good to hear!! Thanks for the review!
I actually caught striped bass on that rod on the surf
The intro.... It took me back to my early 20s. I don't relate any more to that but I sure do remember those days.
That's exactly what someone who relates to this would say.
Please make a 2021+ version!
I have always bought more expensive reels. The Berkeley cherrywood is an awesome rod
I have the older cherrywood in a light action. I caught tons of nice bass on it during the past winters. Very in depth vid, great job!
I have the same set up for right at 34$...i bought it at Wally World to use wading the rivers where i live in S.E. Missouri to save wear and tear on my more expensive set ups and I've caught a Lot of Goggle eye,Small mouths and large mouths with it and not a single problem with it...i use 8lb stren line on it.Its 2019 and 1st day of spring here and I'm going to try it out on some Slabs .Every thing you said about the set up is true...can't go wrong for the price.👍
Well I guess I’m seeing this video too late. The reel isn’t available on amazon and the rods are doubled in price now lol! If anyone has some advice for a new angler please let me know!
Yo man, when I started fishing I got a cheap combo, or at least I think its cheap idk. Anyways, I got an ugly stik gx2 and a shimano sienna spinning reel. Both the rod and reel are a best bang for your buck so its really a nice setup. The rod is 40 dollars and the reel is 30.
oh also the rod was a 7'0 medium heavy and the reel size was 4000, or 40
Bass Pro Shop has a spinning reel thats a pretty good deal too. Its their store brand Mega Cast series starting at $21. They have been compared to Shimano Sienna series. You can also find them in a combo pack rod/reel.
This channel will blow up soon ! Keep up the good work
Lol FUNNY video introduction, nice Under Armour sweater, nice classy pool table and man cave, nice truck 🛻 👍 but scraping for change 😉 😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆 🤣 😂
I have that same rod. Love it for river fishing
Buy "Magreel" spinning reel. Amazon is 20$ and under. I own it in 3 sizes. It has a screw in handle, 9 plus 1 ball bearings. Metal spool and consistent drag. Have used them for over 7 months. Handle is still solid and the bail wire has held up. Now I own Saltist and Saltist Back n Bay reels. And have Van Staals. Money isnt a issue. I love good deals. And I am just happy with the Magreel brand. But Dont get their rods. To brittle graphite.
Price went up for the reel and rod. Still cheap overall though. Thanks for sharing.
So, I paired up my two Outdoor Angler reels on my Lew's Speed Sticks, and gave them a try... They are now my drop shot and ned rig reels, and I love them! Like you said, the drag is amazingly smooth! I'm much happier with the Outdoor Angler 3000 reels than I was with my Lews Speed Spin reels.. I've caught lots of bass on them, and plan to catch many more! Thanks again for the great vid!
Steve Thornton Fishing awesome bro!! Good to hear!
Jus found a 9ft medium action Penn salmon steelhead rod, new 5 years ago, $99, I Got It for $25, found a black max reel, now on my way to get this set up!!!!!!!!!!
Great video brotha, your channel is going to blow up for sure 💯🤙🏼.
Cannot agree more, cheap stuff is working. However i find out that you can fish with cheap stuff but better not. Only one thing i recommend, cheap stuff must be useful after you get into fishing. I test cheap rods ultralight 5' result is predictable. Same performance +/- then i got better rod to do the same, it's like corollas vs ferrari.
This reel is unavailable everywhere I’m looking is there another cheap reel you recommend
Yeah me too
Take a look at the Kastking Lancelot it’s $27, I have it on a Berkeley Cherrywood HD and it’s great.
Have you tried any of the reels on the wish app? They look good and are good priced but I’m just not sure whether or not to try one out.
I'd certainly would like to try this "slam bass'n" u speak of..
is it good for salt water fishing?
The emotional start is amazing..
I was thinking about getting the casting version of that rod. I think after doing some research, and seeing this, I’m definitely gonna get one. Nice vid and definitely do a baitcaster one. I could probably guess what reel it’ll be
Will ultralight model of cherrywood work for trout?
Just subscribed and bought the setup from amazon. Gotta see what this thing can do 💪🏽 Keep up the good work!
Was it good
Gorilla Fishing Company How’s the setup?
I bought the Berkley Cherrywood rod he's talking about here. $22 at Walmart.
Cheapest rod and reel combo I own is a 6”6 med Roddy limited edition rod I bought from big 5 for 15$ pair with a Goture 2000 reel I bought off amazon for 18$. It’s a cheap ass combo but man it also catches a lot of fish very versatile combo
Thanks. I'm buying 2 cherrywood hd
Intro actually describes my life, except I’ve never owned a 20$ bill XD
get a job you both lazy assholes 🤣🤣🤣
Please tell me why you’d pick on a comment from a year ago? Also the U.S. economy right now isn’t in a place for me to safely do so
@@GimmeMyHandleBack dude job is everywhere if you want to work you always get something ....excuses are only made by lazy fuckers.
@@GimmeMyHandleBack hes right tho
@@Jkpgs he also hasn’t heard of COVID, or teenagers
Awesome! Can't wait for the sequel of a Bait Caster vid. Thanks
Is this still a good combo and does Walmart still have this reel because Amazon doesn’t
I'm thinking about using a cherrywood casting rod soon lol
love the video how bout an inexpensive pier setup? larger and saltwater? i am going to look for that reel at walmart.
Penn battle combo
i finally picked up this setup its one of the best if not the best
My buddy bought me this cheap as rod for my birthday. It snapped in half trying to haul in a giant carp...lol
I live in the middle of Kansas and am wanting to try this setup. What size of line should I start with? I plan to fish lakes, ponds and the Arkansas River.
@@arcticablue 30lb braid or 10-12lb mono
Awsome video, one could truly make the case that your videos are better than some of the other top fishing videos. Keep up the great vids.
I found the rod but I cannot for the love of fishing find the reel. Any suggestions?
That intro is a mood
That opening scene, I felt that 😅
My Zebco Slingshots for less than $10 a rod get used more than any of the others. 🤷♂️
Loved the video! Is there another reel you would suggest with this particular rod? I’m finding it hard to find the reel mentioned in the video.
great vid my bro! I was about to order the rod and reel combo, but I can't find the reel online anymore. Do you know where I could find it at? If not do you know any other rod and reel combos that are affordable, but still good quality?
lol I have the same couch. Good call on the cherrywood rod.
There are cheaper combos out there from like Shimano, Abu Garcia, Daiwa, and Quantum, to name a few. I have a $25 Shimano Med-Fast FXS/IX2000 combo that's 10+ years old that still handles everything from small stream smallies to giant river pikes, and the reel has never been serviced yet.
Shakespeare firebird rod and reel combo is good and not a lot of money
Bouta head to Walmart now
What type of line would be best paired with this set up ? Newbie to the game plan on catching bass, catfish and blue gill and croppie
Very cinematic and great acting in the intro!! Thanks for the tips, I’ll check out your recommendation.
Love this video. Im gunna share this on facebook and all the big fishing groups im in
I love Berkley rods but the Cherrywood is junk, i hate it, i use the Berkley Lightning Rod and it is awesome, it is a little more expensive but worth it.
ha! doing same thing as that guy at start .
Thanks man I’m so going to get this. This video helped me so much I’m buying the rod and reel thanks and a am also subbing
No problem!
Intro was a good touch. Watched it a few times. Nice man. What camera?
What the hell i feel this guy .. im just looking to myself there haha
Dude, great video, I think we may try this out and make a video testing out your suggestion lol. Great content, can't wait to see where your channel goes, hope you're ready for the blow up :)
that intro was awesome! Keep a little humor with that awesome vid quality and before you know it you'll be taking off, awesome rod set up too.
Thank you for your advice.
Wow you are asome I am sooo suprized how you only have 2100 subs. You are sooo cool 👍🏻
Hey man hope u are well thanks for this add and could you recommend an 9ft and can't seem to find that link for the reel and rod, thanks😊could u put it up again from Ireland here😊
Definitely would like to see a baitcaster set up
What type of fishing is this rod and reel combo the best or used for?
Love the channel brother keep it up another awesome vid
liked your review. Can you do one on the pen rod and reels. I havent found someone who does a good comparison and test
What do you think about the outdoor angler baitcaster reel?
So far so good. Used it about 10x and no problems. All freshwater pond fishing. I have it on an Medium 6'6" ulgy stick
great vid bro keep up the great work
I seen that same reel at Walmart for 7.50
That rod snapped on me today
Nice video. you should make baitcaster setup
Can you alternate between left and right handed with this? I am new to fishing
Can you tell me what's the name reel $ 11 ?
I want try in indonesian
The reel can't be found anymore. E bay has a couple. Google FISHDROPS spinning reels . I believe they are better quality anyway and they are unbelievably cheap. I have two that I trout fishing with. It fits with the Cherrywood rod well.
I think we all have a Walmart near us
berkley 7 ft cherrywood medium heavy snapped on me with a 6 lb cat :( first use
i want this in india please help me your amazon link says this item does not ship to india
Prithviraj Fasale Maybe try ebay.
I’ll try it for sure!
A Shimano sienna and an ugly stik. Best combo for the money.
I can't find that reel at any of my walmarts
haha...with such a great review, its gone from$11 to £74+3.99 for shipping in the uk😢
PROs.... love this butttt..... CONS...none of this reel is not available anywhere online...... and that rod is tripled in price.
