I just purchased the whole do88 cooling system for my 6 speed e90 m3. On the do88 website the transmission cooler is listed for the DCT only but under there description it says it fits the 6 speed manual as well. I’ve reached out to some local shops but a lot of them haven’t heard of do88. Would you happen to know if there is any modifications needed in order to run the transmission cooler for the 6 speed

I know the stock cooler isn’t enough to keep the dct from overheating but I think I heard that without the block off plate it could actually keep the 6mt from reaching operating temp. Would be interesting to see your experience with it, haven’t really seen someone take it off before.
So when I was researching this topic, I came across a few 6MT guys who have taken it off and reported no negative feedback.
If you think about it, the 6MT has a thermostat that sends oil through the transmission oil cooler via an electric oil pump, so wouldn’t the thermostat only open up once it’s actually at operating temp or above?
If my theory is correct, then removing the plate will only make the oil cooler more efficient when it’s needed, and won’t make any difference when it’s not needed. I could be way off here, but I’m just trying to make sense of the whole operating system and figure out why the bmw engineers opted to block half of it off.

Not a BMW guy so don't know much but why the H E DOUBLE HOCKEY STICKS would they block off the cooler???? Wtf
Doesn’t make any sense! Maybe for those who drive their cars in COLD climates and need their transmission oil to warm up quickly. I get that, but this car won’t be driven in the winter so see ya 👋 block off plate
