I used to have a nova gsi back in the day and dropped a 2.0 astra gsi redtop in it. That was a weapon. The old engines used to love getting a hiding. None of the cars nowadays seem to with all sensors etc going wrong controlling engines output. Love ur xr2 it looks like a golf gti thats been shrunk in the wash lol.👍🏻

I had twin 40 dellortos on my cvh back in the day - the noise was unreal. The inlet manifold was about an inch long due to the limited space between the cylinder head and bulk head. Memories... First thing i look to see under a bonnet - is are the inner wings and struts polished abd waxxed. That shows the level of care. The only thing id like to see is some kind of bonnet stay - to stop the measly hinges from sagging over time. What a machine youve got! 👍
I loved my xr2 D659 TDM , a white one , got it for 50 quid in 95 completely stock sadly buried it in a garden wall that gear box is so violent and raspy the way they rev up , great video thanks
Absolutely love this and the finer details really make this build. Cobra seats in an old Ford is just perfect, blue harnesses and blue rocker cover is also just perfect in a white Ford, the pepper pots. Just perfect! What a wicked little car. Also just want to say how satisfying it would be to see your garage jet washed, just noticed its no longer white but lovely mossy green, please share a video of that if you decide to do it. 😜😂
Fantastic car, I was actually alive in the 80's (still alive now........well sort of !!) and remember when the XR2 was released by Ford, I had a Capri 2.0 S at the time if memory serves.👍👍👍👍👍👍

I love it but I've got an issue with rol cages in road cars. Look how close the bars are to your heads, they will put a big dent in a skull especially a side impact or fast roll over. With harness you might be ok with a front impact but I've seen cages in cars with normal belts too. Main benifit is if a truck rear ends you though, stops car getting squashed. Cage adds weight too.
Can't go wrong with old skool fords lovely fez . I know Brewster's motors I live down the road in Ingatestone I have to check then out for a few bits for my ford great video enjoyed it .

Funny he said about not having much luck with bike carbs, they can be a pain to set up initially. Got the same engine on zx6r carbs in a mk3 and that goes well enough!

some different wheels would be killer IMHO... (maybe some work equip 01 monoblocks or hayashi commands) but despite it being a Fiesta, it's really cool... (the cars didn't have the greatest rep)...
I had the mrk 3 xr2i with an escort GTi engine in then swapped it out to a 2ltr Mondeo engine it was in that ford grey they had at the time an it was one of my best cars miss it so much
Such a shame the XR2 was taken away from it, so it`s a real XR2, it doesn`t look like one, nice car don`t get me wrong, but not one i`d choose to buy if for sale and i was looking for one, i would definitely skip past the add if one was out there.
I'm not hating, I respect these guys and love what they do. I just question if they REALLY want the authentic XR2 experience, why swap the engines for more power? I know this was already swapped but why? When it comes to the engines, almost always they swap it for something with at least double the power and more often than not, put turbos on things that never had them. I just wonder if there are any guys out there that accept these old hot hatches for what they were and leave them with sub 100bhp.
I had one for my first car way back, for me they were brilliant cars but just not quick enough out the box, fitted twin 40's high lift cam and a big valve head, certainly sorted that out and taught me all about power to weight ratio that car, I still own one today a 2.1 zetec one now though that's 211 bhp, have you ever driven one with a modified engine? They are an absolute hoot to drive.
Amazing car but with the engine and no body kit its not a xr2 if the guy wanted the cleaner look should have gone the supersport livery route but taking nothing away from the build
I think all are cars would be as tidy as that if we had garages like that to work in without every Tom dick and Harry watching you do thing like that on your drive outside a single garage

It remind me of my dad old car. He used to own a white T Reg (78) Ford Capri with 2.0 conversion and pepper pot wheels and that's 30 years ago.
