    That company on the door did a lot of contract work for different Power Companies here in my county in the late 60'S and early 70' S . I live in Wise County, Virginia . I worked at a Texaco Service Station in 1968 that serviced their trucks and they also stored their trucks there too. The trucks then were mostly gasoline powered and 4WD . They worked in our Appachian Mountains installing poles and running wire . They were good, hard working men that travelled to their homes on the weekends. I hope this enlightens you some. Be safe and God bless you and yours !!!! Eddy

    Put a rubber flap over the tool box latch to shed the water and snow. That's what we do up here in the land of heavy snow and ice. Doesn't always work, but it does help a lot. Side driven freezing rain gets in anyway.

    When compiling the top ten diesel's made the DT 466 is ALWAYS included. Same with the 7L Power Strokes they built for Ford. Too bad recently they've stumbled a bit, particularly with the Terra-Star line which damn near bankrupted them. Nice work rig, you must be proud!

    I remember when Urzuli? went flying off the back of the truck and you were devastated. I guess you got used to the old SA 200 just staying put but that turn was the one that finally made her jump off...I found one of these trucks that I passed every day at a electrical company lot but the week before I was going to stop by and make an offer a guy from a tree service about a mile from my house bought it and had it completely gone over and it looks really great. As you always say..everyone needs a crane truck.. Even a secretary...lol

    The only thing I heard him say about CDL requirements was "if it has airbrakes, you have to have a CDL", at least in the few states I've lived in you only need a air brake endorsement for 26k and under trucks with air brakes. I have an IH 1700 with air, and that's all I needed. Take the written air brake test.

    What is your thought on an S1600 International with 7.3 and a 5+2 transmission for mobile welding and repair truck?

    • @EEJester1586
      @EEJester1586  5 месяцев назад

      7.3 IDI super good engine very tough
      Biggest weakness was the glow plug controller they were bad to go out and if they did, the engine would not start even if it was 150° outside. But I really like them a little underpowered but they would get you home with a lot wrong with them. 7.3 Powerstroke I ran one for years and I’ve got mixed feelings about them. They are not bad but don’t like them the fuel system is very weak that constantly give injector trouble. 5+2 trans are ok The synchronizers are weak for some reason got one in the dump truck, but it’s done what I’ve wanted it to. Yeah go for it The international cabs are not luxury basically just a seat and a steering wheel. But some of the toughest trucks on the road though.

      I run mostly 5/16” every now and then 3/8” but a 5/16” will do a lot of work at 200 to 240 amps. Not as hard on the machine.

    I disagree with the utility bed that's all I run is utility bed I make purchases based on utility bed I guess everything's different everybody's different but I don't do any equipment repair where I actually do wrenching and stuff like that I carry a gouge cutting torch all that good stuff yeah I call him service buddy I like the service body over a flatbed it just suits me better

    • @EEJester1586
      @EEJester1586  7 месяцев назад +1

      Nothing wrong with a utility bed. Seen some very nice setups on one. The biggest problem (for me at least) was trying to get things to fit in places they were never designed for. And always strapped for space. I was lucky and had a 2 foot flat bed made into my service body behind the cab. If I didn’t have that the welder would have been in the back of the bed and really would have been a pain.

    Reading thru all the comments, I did not see anyone's comment on the "one" most important tool you have on your excellent outfitted working truck. Love the truck and the way it's set up for all around field work. Back to that tool...your "RELECT TRUMP STICKER - 2024". When that happens your going to see the welding and construction professions open up like never before. Pray that it happens.
