Driving on the left or right is easy enough. A lot of us pop over to Europe in the summer and we have to switch when you get off the ferry. It takes about 2 minutes to become accustomed to it.
Having spent a large part of my working life supplying USAF bases here in the UK, the American servicemen and women have always been super polite to me, I used to get the feeling that they had had drilled into them that they were guests in the UK and should behave accordingly.
All I'd say is 'Don't go to England, or any other country for that matter, and expect it to be the same as the USA - different countries have different foods and cultural norms.' I've heard American tourists in England and abroad complaining that they couldn't get their favourite fast food, or that the shops/restaurants have different opening times - even that the money is different - as if everywhere should be just like the USA. I tend to think that some( not all) Americans look upon the UK and the rest of Europe as some kind of theme park, where they can view the 'foreign' sights but still expect everything else to be American.
Most of the phone boxes have been adapted now. Usually to be storage for defibrillators but you might come across a mini library with books for kids etc. They have got creative over the years . Great vid
When it's pissing down a raincoat won't help anyway, you'll get soaked regardless of the jacket you're wearing. Especially if it's the triple threat (cold day, windy, horizontal rain)
Just to add, if you do get a car, most Americans are used to an automatic car while most cars in the UK are manual (stick shift, I think it's called?!). So check with that with the rental company!!

The rest of the year it will be windy, wet, cold, hot, dark, light, snow... Any or all of them in one day... Pubs are a good place to have food too... Nothing fancy, but good hearty food with a pint. It's social, not for power drinkers - until later at night, and there are a lot of family pubs, don't be surprised to see kids or even dogs in a village pub...

@@3nok if you're going to do a lot looking externally at buildings as well as inside some Americans have said on posts that a clear umbrella ( brolly ) is good because you can see everything when it's raining and not just the ground and ahead with a normal brolly , you'll be ok visiting Ireland ( north and south ) now because you can get a lot of research off RUclips etc unlike years ago , have you had baked beans on toast, cut the toast into four , for breakfast yet ? oh you can always add some sliced cheese on top of the beans and grill it until it's melted , A lot of Americans wonder were the British get all the different ingredients / flavours from , it has been said that because the British and europeans use the knife and fork all the time with the fork pointing downwards they can have a mixture of foods on the fork so giving more flavours unlike some , not all , Americans who just cut up the food and then eat it one piece at a time
Our plugs don't really look like that.. I dont know why the guy who made the video found the fattest, chunkiest plug I've ever seen. And that's no word of a lie. Our's looks similar to your's, except there is a third prong for safety or something idk.

Southern English weather is a lot better than Northern English and Scottish weather (similar to the North of the US/south of Canada)
