That moment you read the description and said NO BUDGET then you realize a film without money can tell a story about losing hope and seeing your brothers die, better than Hollywood.
Considering the no budget thing how long did this take? Will there be a part 2? How did you aquire the weapons and uniforms? And how did you do such much better than Hollywood?
My father was 15 when he joined partisans in WW II. First few battles he was so scared he was hiding with his head covered shaking in fear. Over time, he got more and more brave, and eventually, fighting was like going to work. No fear, no feelings, no sense of right or wrong, no empathy. He survived the war, but his 2 brothers did not. He was never the same. He was a bad husband and even worse father to me. He drank heavily and suffered from severe depression.

Remember that Hollywood doesn't target the same audience than the most certainly great short movie we've watched. Big movie industry appeals to people who don't really care for historical accuracy but only for emotionnally one-sided war stories with spectacular fighting.

My grandfather got send to Kurland in late summer of 1944, a couple of months before his 18. birthday. He was with the Infanterie as a Grenadier. He got wounded in december 1944 near Schaulen (Šiauliai) in Lithuania. Shot in arm and leg, but luckely survived and spend to rest of the war in hospitals back in Germany. Just makes me eternaly sad to think of all those young men who lost their lifes without ever having lived it. Absolutely gutting. :(
Well my grandmother was dragged out of the house by German troops as the Soviet army was getting close. A long with other women they were forced to dig trenches. She got so cold she lost all her teeth and she was twenty at the time. I’m not sure how you can feel sorry for your young ones and not for these who they killed or tortured.

About the songs that were sang how the streets going to flood with Jewish blood. Germany allowed itself to get intoxicated with murderous ideology and paid for it.

Nicht vorzustellen wie es wäre, mit dem Sitznachbarn aus der S Bahn statt in der Bahn im Schützengraben zu hocken. Ich bin ein glücklicher Mensch, da ich Frieden erleben darf und nicht das.
Mit 27 bist du aber da schon ein alter Hase. Verdammt viele waren deutlich jünger und später beim Volkssturm war soweit ich weiß ab 16 alles dabei was eine Knarre halten kann. Das wird wohl auf der russischen Seite nicht anders gewesen sein😥.

My grandfather was Karl Frankie, Wehrmacht veteran. He had to build roads in the Soviet Union for years after the war. He never killed a single person, but saved many as a medic, including enemy soldiers. I’m not surprised he didn’t believe in god anymore.

These people that say that are gonna be the people hiding if it happens again, and the people who were doing everything to prevent it would be the ones fighting for their country. Die Musik am Ende ist doch eine abgewandelte Version von "Fury" oder "Herz aus Stahl" oder nicht? Habe die Melodie immer geliebt, auch wenn der Film nicht meins war (also von "Fury"). Habe mir durch den Trailer mehr erhofft.

I spot the difference in the every small detail everywhere and I am so glad I stumbled across these shorts you make. German is not a language I learned at school sadly, but as an Englishman I can still pick up, and indeed interpret, what is being said, better by every episode I watch so that is not a problem. You work is just incredible, uniquely encompassing simultaneously the reality of war and the genuine emotional human element without the usual Hollywood "soppiness" . I will re- post this comment in some of your later productions just to make sure you get my message of appreciation.
This is awesome :) To the ppl who think it's "pro-nazi" check your facts; it's a depiction of war; a depiction of a side rarely seen from an in-depth perspective not a mindless evil person; a depiction of war through the eyes of the Germans. We hardly ever see this in hollywood - at least this shows the German soldier as a human because he was; this isn't trying to depict any pro-politics but rather war is hell for all sides and there's destruction regardless the side you fight on This reminds me of Downfall tbh an awesome ww2 film by all means!

The reason they did it is that Germans were suffering lots of casualties, so they needed as many troops as possible, as soon as possible. And so they did. As they needed troops fast, they didn't focus on training them, just give a gun, teach how to shoot, and send to the field.

My grandfather got send to Kurland in late summer of 1944, a couple of months before his 18. birthday. He was with the Infanterie as a Grenadier. He got wounded in december 1944 near Schaulen (Šiauliai) in Lithuania. Shot in arm and leg, but luckely survived and spend to rest of the war in hospitals back in Germany. Just makes me eternaly sad to think of all those young men who lost their lifes without ever having lived it. Absolutely gutting. :(
Well my grandmother was dragged out of the house by German troops as the Soviet army was getting close. A long with other women they were forced to dig trenches.
She got so cold she lost all her teeth and she was twenty at the time.

My grandfather was Karl Frankie, Wehrmacht veteran. He had to build roads in the Soviet Union for years after the war. He never killed a single person, but saved many as a medic, including enemy soldiers. I’m not surprised he didn’t believe in god anymore.

I am Russian, and sometimes on trucks on the streets of Moscow I see, "Let's repeat 1945". These people that say that are gonna be the people hiding if it happens again, and the people who were doing everything to prevent it would be the ones fighting for their country. Fuck war, war is made by governments for their purposes, not by people who actually fight it. Thank you, our Soviet heroes for saving us from Nazism, but in the same time let’s remember that being in SS and the Wehrmacht are two different things, and the young 19 year olds dying from both sides is a nightmare to the country and their families. ParaLight WorX, the quality and attention to the smallest detail of your productions are simply beyond parallel. Nothing produced in Hollywood or anywhere else can even compare. I spot the difference in the every small detail everywhere and I am so glad I stumbled across these shorts you make. German is not a language I learned at school sadly, but as an Englishman I can still pick up, and indeed interpret, what is being said, better by every episode I watch so that is not a problem. You work is just incredible, uniquely encompassing simultaneously the reality of war and the genuine emotional human element without the usual Hollywood "soppiness" . I will re- post this comment in some of your later productions just to make sure you get my message of appreciation.
The uniforms and makeup can show a little more wear. They look too clean for field soldiers.

To the ppl who think it's "pro-nazi" check your facts; it's a depiction of war; a depiction of a side rarely seen from an in-depth perspective not a mindless evil person; a depiction of war through the eyes of the Germans. We hardly ever see this in hollywood - at least this shows the German soldier as a human because he was; this isn't trying to depict any pro-politics but rather war is hell for all sides and there's destruction regardless the side you fight on

This proves that you don't need money to tell a good story. All the visuals and blasting music hollywood sells you doesn't guarantee a good movie. When are they going to learn that it's about the small things that matter. Well done!

@@Pascal-js2rs There is no Bullshit bro. Germans mobilized troops from most of the invaded countries. The reason they did it is that Germans were suffering lots of casualties, so they needed as many troops as possible, as soon as possible. And so they did. As they needed troops fast, they didn't focus on training them, just give a gun, teach how to shoot, and send to the field.
People forget that majority of the german soldiers were just soldiers, following orders, living their lives. As people

Ja finde ich auch. Und er ist einfach nur einer von 7 Millionen getöteten Deutschen und einer von 60 Millionen Toten insgesamt. Und alle sind im Grunde für nichts und aber nichts gefallen. Ich finde sie sind alle Opfer, nicht nur Täter, denen das Leben von bösartigen Regierungen entrissen wurde. Ich gedenke diesem jungen deutschen Mann, der schon früh, viel zu früh sein Leben lassen musste. Möge so etwas nie mehr passieren. Schöne Grüße Christoph

Eigentlich war ich ja auf der suche nach Videomaterial der Kurlandfront und dann stoße ich auf so ein Meisterwerk sehr schöner Kurzfilm :) grüße aus Lettland :D

hi i am from England. Great, short film! I love these sort of re-enactments of ww2 stuff. It saddens me that the british had to fight the germans during the war, after all we are very much alike. Hi, Thomas.I read a book that tells about Hitler's private driver's experiences. He said that the discussions showed that Hitler was not willing to fight against British. Hitler liked British, but was forced to do so by world politics...sad...regards from Finland!
Actually Hitler offered Churchill tons of peace contracts but Churchill declined them. And Churchill was too dumb to realise that they fought the wrong in the end. Von euch kam bis jetzt immer nur großartiges Kino,da können sich die meisten Produktionen mit Millionenbudgets eine dicke Scheibe abschneiden.Ich bin manchmal ganz überrascht,wenn man so mit den Leuten ins Gespräch kommt wieviele doch VSDG anschauen.Vielleicht bekommt ihr irgendwann einen Spielfilm in die Kinos!?
