Fair Play: Case-Studies of Ethical Challenges in Counseling and Career Guidance

As we support students in navigating this increasingly complex and competitive world of higher education, it is crucial that educators and university officers adhere to the highest ethical and professional standards. This session, based on the IC3 Code of Ethics, aims to explore the specific ethical demands faced, and provide valuable insights and guidance on dilemmas that arise. Our case-based interactive session has three parts: Unbiased Guidance & Best Interest, including transparency, exploring personal and cultural biases, and strategies to ensure impartial advice; Fostering Strong School-University Interactions, including how to maintain open communication and student privacy, boundaries, and avoiding conflicts; and Ethics in Interacting with Third-Party Organizations including how/when to involve TPOs, conflicts of interest, and potential bias.
