The Past/Present/Future of Counseling: A Historical Perspective | 2023 Annual IC3 Conference & Expo

What is the nature and significance of educational and vocational counseling, and the ecosystem within which it works, in our times? How did it come to be the way it is? When did it begin and how has it changed over the ages? This presentation will seek to unravel the world of counseling by critically examining the historical journey of this important practice. It works on the assumption that unless we understand the historical context of its shaping, we will not be able to fully attend to the very challenging tasks of meaningful and humane counseling at hand today.
