Sportsman Spirit!: Sports Recruitment and Sports at University | 2023 Annual IC3 Conference & Expo

An underappreciated aspect in counselling today is an in-depth understanding of how sporting recruitment works. The process is different across countries, but this session will go into depth and address the basics as well as nuanced details and tips for schools and students, if they wish to play sports at a university or get recruited into an institute for a sport. The session also has access elements in terms of scholarships for highly achieving sports men and women. Sporting departments often need to be contacted earlier and, much like portfolio creation in the arts, students must learn to prepare years in advance for sports recruitment. The session will also explore how trends in sports have evolved and how sports are treated in different countries.
