This video is part of a series that focuses on generative modular ambient. In these videos I'll be using my Eurorack modular system to create meditative patches that breathe and float. I am especially interested in generative processes, allowing the modular system to "play itself" and create slowly evolving textures that have no beginning and no end.

Patch Notes:
Noise saga update: Still dealing with an annoying electrical whining in my audio path. After some experimentation, I thought it was my mixer/out and replaced it. But upon further investigation I narrowed it down to my Arbhar--one of my favorite Eurorack modules. Unfortunately, it is an interaction between it and my outs: The output/mixer seems to be picking up on digital noise from the module that is being passed through the PSU. So I'm solving the problem for now by putting my mixer in a separate case so it is not sharing the same power supply as the Arbhar and my other modules. That seems like a simple enough fix for now, but isn't ideal. I'd prefer to have everything in one rack: One cohesive ambient ecosystem.
In this breezy, zither-like track, I'm using a fairly typical Innesti patch: The Oxi One is sequencing Rings. Rings is being fed into the Arbhar, where the audio stream is being periodically sampled. Grains are being triggered at a slow rate, creating overlapping, polyphonic sounds. The Arbhar is set to delay/feedback mode, and I'm using an offset to hold that at a high, but not too high, value. A segment of that audio is sampled by the Nebulae and is being pitched down and octave and stretched a bit. Both streams (Nebulae and Arbhar) are being passed through some reverb on the way out.
