I have that knife and love it! it is my work knife. I carry it with me and it goes through abuse. just sharpen it once and awhile and it keeps going! Best knife I have found for $20 and Made In U.S.A.
Yeah man these are good knives I have several. I file down that little sharp bump on the underside of the scales that the pinky grips... digs in if I don't. I'm never dissatisfied with Bucks 420hc... good solid economy steel. Nice job Jeff!
Jeff, I have a Buck 110 that my Dad gave me for my 13th birthday in 1964. The leather case is well worn but the 440C steel has performed as one would expect Buck heat-treated steel to perform. I have several Bucks as well including a black Vantage Select and a Marine green Vantage Force Select. I'm a little upset that you reviewed the BLW because now I have to get me one. HAHAHA! Really like your knowledgeable and down-to-earth reviews. I can always count on you to calls 'em like you sees 'em. Peace from Georgia, U.S of A.
KennyCnotG The biggest difference is that the older 110's didn't have rounded edges along the handles as the new ones do, so the new ones seem a little more ergonomic. You will also see difference in number of pins. The modern ones have 3 pins since they show the lockback pin, and scale pins, older ones vary from 2-4pins, the only reason this matters is from a collector's perspective. the older ones had specially heat treated 440C blades and the newer ones have several different blade steels and can be custom ordered from Buck's custom shop. You can have S30V or 420HC steel and a wide variety of handle materials, wood, horn, and shell mostly. Also, some of the blades are made in China and can be identified by the word "China" on the tang opposite the name "Buck". Also, you can get finger grooves on the newer models. Be safe and stay sharp.
I’m a Georgia boy myself my grandfather used Buck old timer and uncle Henry knives but me myself I like collecting knives from all ranges, but one of my favorite groups of knives is your classics book and the old classic old timers uncle Henry back when they were made in the states as we know, uncle Henry and old timer was made by shrade hopefully I remember the spell that right but old timer was made by that company in the USA. All timers were made from 1958 to 2004 and 2004 when they started making them in China but I also like my Case knives as well, I do enjoy my traditional brands agian Case Buck more because they are still made in the United States today old timer and uncle Henry no longer makes theirs in the USA and I still like those but they don’t make them like they used to but these type of eyes are grandfathers and our fathers grew up carrying Buck Case Old Timer and Uncle Henry’s then in the mid 90’s as a young kid, I used to enjoy and I still do that’s another company. I forgot to mention a lot of their good models Gerber makes most of their knives in the USA. There’s some that’s made overseas but all their good models like the ones I have such as the gator series that was introduced in 1991 they are still USA made to day with the only thing about the newer versions of the holsters that you carry them in on your belt or Chinese made, but the knife the Gerber gator is May to look like the originals and still American made
I have baught a lot of expensive knives but I have to say nothing beats an American made buck. For the price you the whole package and a forever warranty, that you'll never have to use. Good review Jeff.
I bought on of these knifes about 3 years ago. I love it. I carry it about everyday. It's about the same pattern as yours. Different but similar. Last month my wife and myself went to Toronto Canada. I took this knife because I wanted I decent sized knife because I couldn't take a handgun obviously. So have it in my back pocket as usual. We decide that we want to up into the CN Tower. So we go to the entrance to the tower and they have metal detectors and security checks. It's too far to walk back to the car. I palm the knife and drop it in to a planter outside of the security/entrance. I figure it was only about $18 bucks. I get another one when I get back home. So we go up in the tower and come back down. I looked for it and couldn't find it. I did want to dig to hard/long as to draw attention by security. We walk away for a little bit. My wife says go back. Ok we go back and look again and find it right away. I glad I listened to her. Sorry so long.
bought this knife for a beater type blade and a year and a half later it's still going strong. it's my edc work blade and it's performed great for me too. the only issues was yes a little blade play but nothing serious and the thumb studs lossened. I couldn't get them to tighten or to take them off so I used a little crazy glue to secure them and surprisingly they are still solid. I'm new to your channel and I enjoy your knowledge and vids. I love the pepper and inferno mase testing. bro you are crazy.
I gave each one of my 4 kids one of these knifes, and they like them a lot. They stay sharp and easy to sharpen. They hold a good edge,. for the money spent for each one (20 bucks ) they are a great deal.. I use one in orange real tree for EDC. We like them
I been thinking about this one for a long time. I just LOVE the look. The only draw back I've found is the tip down carry. But I think I might look passed that and pick up one of these knives!
The false edge on the back sparks a fire steel very well so it's multi use. I've heard folks whine about these for not being heavier use but its pretty obvious its for hunting, not batoning.
Love that knife. And it is super light and the blade is great. Made in USA and lifetime warranty. I paid $16 online for mine. When I received it, i shaved my arm hair with it.
thank you for your video, i found it accurate and helpful.I have used this knife as an EDC/ every day use, for the past 11 months. I agree that the steel is very good for the price and takes a beating.Handle is also very comfortable. However at this point the blade play on the vertical and horizontal axis is so great that i have stopped using it. The handle material also tends to brake at sharp angles if you happen to try and use it as a bottle opener. Having said that i do think that i got my moneys worth considering that it was used heavily. I would recommend this as a lite to medium duty EDC. Going to attempt to re-build and save the steel.
I picked one of these up for 15 bucks at my wal-mart as a beater for my summer job...i was prying paint cans, cutting twine, boxes, used it as a screwdriver, just beat the heck out of it and it just smiled and kept on going, right at the end of the torture the very tip of the blade broke off, but it locks up solid and almost no blade play...for a cheapo beater get er done and pick one up
I got the orange one last year for Christmas. And I love it. Once I sharpened it, it's the best knife ever, in my eyes. Which is why it's my EDC knife. It's pretty bad that this knife is $25 and I have a GERBER ultimate survival knife that is $60 and when my dad asked to borrow this knife when he went deer hunting I said "NO WAY, but I'll let you use the $60 gerber survival knife. So this sure is a quality knife
I have the Bantam BHW, and it's a great knife, but I found that where the blade goes into the handle has some slightly sharp edges and can be uncomfortable during extended use. I have thought about filing it down but I haven't gotten around to it. Great vid, sir!
I bought one of these yesterday at the buck factory and the lady said that the handle is china but it is all completely assembled in usa they have a sale on theas in orange camo for $10 in april at the factory thanks for the info on the vid
I had the green camo version until my now ex took it & clipped it to her cigarette case. I now have the blaze orange knife. No problems with it after 3 years.
I used to have one of these knives and it was the only knife that I could get legitimately shaving sharp I could even get my cas sod buster jr that wasn't as sharp
The other day I was debating whether I should get this knife, or this 200th Anniversary Remington limited edition tin set. I ended up getting the Tin Set because I wanted a cheap, simple carrying knife.
one of my first name brand knives i got a couple of years ago. have that exact same model. it never got carried (tip down only) and the plastic handle is very flexible (no liners), therefore also very bladeheavy, not a good balance.bit of blade play laterally and vertically, though razor sharp though, so it has a place in my bug out bag! the blade is not centered at all, which is really weird for a lockback..i'm getting the bhw reaper as well, take off the pocket clip and carry it in my horizontal 110 nylon sheath- should fit haha- i commented before i watched the whole video - almost everything i mentioned you said too. we really do have the same requirements/criticisms about this blade :)
I just got one for free from rewards at work. I've had it for 2 or 3 weeks and the only problem I've found is the clip is falling off. The screws only go into the plastic, are small, and just fall right out quickly.
lock backs only, no liner or frame locks!!! They are for ''flicker'' boys. the Buck reps say please buy camo....''so ya have to buy a new one next season'' My collection of Buck 560's Ti's are the sharpest I own.
Its a great knife. I have two. One camo the other bone/skeleton. I beleive it is actual realtree anf i think the orange camo is mossy oak. I could be wring. They are amazing knives. Ive carried them for almost a year. I agree with where theyre made. I would assume the blade is U.S. Especialy since it is their usual steel. Its cheaper to nakr the blade in the same plant. I would reccomend this knife.
Hey Jeff, have you heard of the Gerber STL 2.0 ? It's a tiny but not too tiny folding pocket knife that's only around 15$. I got mine at Canadian Tire (probably only in Canada) but I've heard of Americans buying them at Walmart. If you're ever considering a tiny sheeple friendly folder, check out that one =) --and do a review! =P I'm considering buying one to mail to you just so you could do a review. Love your reviews~!
first off, love the gear reviews, keep it up. ok so just wanted to throw in a few things. the Walmarts in the area I live in only carry the orange model BLW, and its priced at $17.99. other thing is i recently purchased the BHW along with another BLW on ebay. for the 3.75" BHW I payed $17.00 shipped, and for the 3.1" BLW I payed $15.00 shipped. I know some people think twice when using ebay, but honestly I have bought at least 10 or 15 knives off of ebay and have never had a issue. anyhow just thought id throw that out there incase anyone wanted to save a few bucks.
Hey, Jeff just kinda random here but I was wondering what you think of Mtech knives. I've got a couple and I really like them. But some of my friends always say they suck.
I had this knife long time ago... and I've noticed that if you put a bit of pressure on the blade ( when it is locked) then the blade will close on you. Anyways, I wish a happy new year to everybody!!!
Take the clip off, Get a punch, a steel dome put it onto an anvil top like on a vice, and tap the rivet with a hammer. Dont go crazy or youll ruin the action, but its a way to fix the side to side play.
LOL i was camping down at the river that we go to and one of my dads friend came back from a boat fishing trip with another on of my dads friends and found a lure of the bank where they park the boat or what ever you call it, but my dad being hi told me to go down there and see in i could find anything and i saw something shiny so i thought it was a lure but it turns out it was a knife i was so happy i found a knife at the river and it is the same knife in this video i found one of the same kind:D

Yes sir! I won it from The Fatman actually! I'll be doing a review soon. Great knife for the money. I can't see it being easily beaten!

Another great vid as always. I have always been impressed with Buck's 420HC as well.
I've starting carrying my Buck Bantam (Orange camo) on Jan 14th and I love it more than my Buck 110 for edc.
Of course you found a new knife to love Danny
You know who I am Annika Rose Vargas
You and knives sometimes I think the world should be worried

Been almost a decade since this video and this American made buck knife is still available for 24.99. I love mine, good quality knife, for the money
Thats my knife! My dad got one that had his company etched into it when he graduated a class. Its a great straightforward knife that gets the job done

Just got 3 of these sent to hong kong from Canada. So far I am liking them.
INEXPENSIVE and lightweight! Love this Bantam.
The Bantam's have always been great value for the price
I have the Bantam BHW, and it's a great knife, but I found that where the blade goes into the handle has some slightly sharp edges and can be uncomfortable during extended use. I have thought about filing it down but I haven't gotten around to it. Great vid, sir!

The black version sells for 15 bucks in Walmart here in Canada.
I love the buck knife . I can't ever aford a good knife now I can and I mean a Buck knife.... Thankyou God .
I had the green camo version until my now ex took it & clipped it to her cigarette case.

Walmart for $15 I love it and it's my new edc
They sell these in the fish and tackle shop where I work =)

Good knife to throw in an emergency kit, as a back up knife when camping, or just toss in the glove compartment or tackle box.
I have this knife! It's in a deer skull camo for the handle!! Great vid!
Can you make a vid about adjusting blade play?
great review Jeff totally considering this one
Hey Jeff, have you heard of the Gerber STL 2.0 ? It's a tiny but not too tiny folding pocket knife that's only around 15$. I bought my wife one in pink camo and although ive bought her a spyderco ladybug and a Ontario RAT II folder she likes her buck better then those
Just purchased one of these Buck Bantam knives... Seems to be of decent quality!?
Have it and love it
Good knife for edc. I prefer my Code 4 & like CRKT Foresight
Hey Jeff thanks for the vids you have inspired me to get my first gun ( Remington 597) thanks
only problem is the belt/pocket clip loosens after a while which u can tighten with allan keys
In your opinion what is the most useful blade style because me and my dad are going to build a knife
Hey Jeff thanks for all the vids you have inspired me to get my first gun ( Remington 597) thanks :D
first off, love the gear reviews, keep it up.
ok so just wanted to throw in a few things. the Walmarts in the area I live in only carry the orange model BLW, and its priced at $17.99. other thing is i recently purchased the BHW along with another BLW on ebay. for the 3.75" BHW I payed $17.00 shipped, and for the 3.1" BLW I payed $15.00 shipped. anyhow just thought id throw that out there incase anyone wanted to save a few bucks.
I liked the 2 tone aswell. But sadly they seemed to have stopped doing it.
Very interesting looking knife.
Hey, Jeff just kinda random here but I was wondering what you think of Mtech knives. I've got a couple and I really like them. But some of my friends always say they suck.
Will you do a review on the Gerber Icon Tanto knife?
I had this knife long time ago... and I've noticed that if you put a bit of pressure on the blade ( when it is locked) then the blade will close on you.
Anyways, I wish a happy new year to everybody!!!
Take the clip off, Get a punch, a steel dome put it onto an anvil top like on a vice, and tap the rivet with a hammer. Dont go crazy or youll ruin the action, but its a way to fix the side to side play.
really nice knife. been looking at this for awhile
Good evening Mr.Smith
One of the cheapest U.S. made knives and probably the best for the money.
Hey jeff you shoud do a review on some bear gryles gerber gear. Or the sog flash 2
Looks like a very good "beater" knife
+cutlerylover I dropped mine in the woods three years ago and it is still there
awesome knife i have the one in black i got it in wal mart in yarmouth nova cotia theres none i camo yet
I cut a thin green stick and it chipped and curled the edge. I'm hoping it's a one-off thing
happy belated birthday man. hope you had a good one.
Great video love the knife I can't seem to find any nice knife brands/companies in my area though :(
LOL i was camping down at the river that we go to and one of my dads friend came back from a boat fishing trip with another on of my dads friends and found a lure of the bank where they park the boat or what ever you call it, but my dad being hi told me to go down there and see in i could find anything and i saw something shiny so i thought it was a lure but it turns out it was a knife i was so happy i found a knife at the river and it is the same knife in this video i found one of the same kind:D
+Tanner 07964 Well a different camo on it and it was packed with sand
.
Jeff you were on Sky again last night!
thanks for adding me to your circle I really appericate that you did that and sory for the missing leading knife for chrismas I was going to give you a case millienma trapper but I sold it for 4 luminoks sory
I WILL START A VIDEO ON MY FAVORITE LATER PROB!!
Their great knives to dress small game, thats why u saw hunters buy them, hunters prefer buck knives because thats their knives are mostly for hunters. Their steel is just perfect for us when we dress our animals.
Can u use this for self defense
I like how buck knives open up like butter and locks pefectly
Robert for now... give it a decade of time and use... it’ll be the toughest open and closing knife you’ve ever actuated. Unfortunately with these bolstered pins, you can’t take it apart yourself and clean it up either. You have to send them to buck and pay them in time and money to do a simple 20 minute clean up. It’s annoying as hell but what can you expect from a sub 50 dollar folder... not a lot from Buck I’ll tell you that much
Jeff loves BBW
I have this knife, but in the bone deer skull pattern
I think I might get one
Good evening
Thanks same to you sir
I could never buy one of these knowing I could spend $5 more and get a far superior Rat folder or Tenacious
You smell back soooo
Why not all 3?
I love my 286 gets way more pocket time than my tenacious or rat2
Jeff should i get this one or the leatherman c33l thanks
I got the bbw and it an amazing knife
i have this knife and i have to say i might have a lemon but it looks terrible, the blade looks like zinc coated tin it has alot of scratches and looks half assed, the handles still has molding flair. Im not very picky with looks but coming from buck im very disapointed, i might send it back for a replacement
Interesting to see the u s price that knife in Australia is $80
Is the Buck 110 next!!!
How do you put back in the flat spring
What do you prefer this or the enlan el 02
also good edc knife atleast for me
should say assembled in USA. even cars made here has parts from Mexico and Canada
What are the screws. The flat ones. And how would you tighten them. I got a butterfly knife and the screws are like that but flatter and its loose
+Ken Krug there is no way to tighten them, they are pins not screws which is disappointing if the blade gets loose.
I have orange one with SKULLZ
how would you compare this to the vantage?
Jeff have you tried those Doritos Dinamita? man those things are hot
nope, but they sound good
do you like this knife or the crkt drifter better ? i dont know if the 2 are even in the same category but they are both cheap knives at walmart
YES...one reason why, it offers more cutting surface and is lighter...but more so a better grip
cutlerylover which one seriously idk
Super edc!👍
heat treat is key
Is that finish called mossy oak?
Don't these things have Teflon washers? That's an instant deal breaker for me.
Wat knife should I use to clean a squirrel
I have the blaze one
i have this one 0-0, didnt expect to see it here, i got the orange
Knife Lover Yeah me too. Mine orange though.
this vs the boker magnum defilade?
