- Johnny spent a few hours playing Shadow of War recently and found a lot of little additions that made him very happy. Here are 19 things we love in Shadow of War.

No mention of the microtransactions?
I made a whole video on how they work, you can find it on the channel. I don't love them, though, so they didn't make it into this video.

kinda useless, you dont need to bribe anyone, everyone that played the first game and is watching the streams knows this is a great game

right? i dont support WB microtransactions, but i will support the game monolith did. and after they said the game was made to balanced to played without the market, i am 99% otimist
WB pretty much implies that they don't trust Monolith enough to make a game with good reviews (even if the game is actually good). I wonder how that scandal influences the Publisher-Developer relationship.
Bards existed before but these ones in SoW are so so so much more awesome, the Singer just sings a tune while the Poet makes amazing rhymes. :)
In my opinion, microtransactions really don't matter in a single player game cause you want to feel very powerful as the hero! Now with that said only cosmetic microtransactions should be used for multiplayer games!
My only grievance is that the alpha graphics and animations looked SO much smoother, you didn't see orcs legs moving through their belt and torso armored like in 2:13

I liked the first one. So many games to play.

The game it's absolutely fantastic, I'm only lv 30, but I didn't advanced to much in story, I have done tons of quests and other stuffs. I have unlocked all the skills, but I think there are still skills that I need to obtain (for example, I don't have revive)
i am a big fun of lord of the rings and shadow of war and mordor so i love everything haha
I know SoW isn't exactly new at this point, but it just popped up on Game Pass on Xbox recently. I love Shadow of Mordor, it takes the Arkham combat, mixes in some of Creed's climbing, throws the nemesis system on top, and adds in a bunch of blood. It's a lot of fun. I haven't beaten it though, I quit somewhere near what I believe is the end. Mostly due to other games I wanted to play. I just restarted, intending to finish at least the story before jumping into Shadow of War. My question is:
How does Shadow of War compare to Mordor? I really enjoy Mordor, but I've seen people complain that War isn't as good as it could have been, and that the alpha builds of War looked better than the final. I've also heard Microtransactions exist (which feels ridiculous in a mostly single player game...) and I'm concerned those will cause problems. Is the game at least as good as Mordor? Is it worse? Is it better? I'm hyped to try it out, but I don't wanna be super disappointed when I finally go to play it after how good Mordor is. (It'll be a bit, I have most of the story on Mordor to play through, plus all the DLC.)

I don't know if you already know, but I would just like to point out that just once in my entire play through, and I'm on Shadow Wars Stage 9, When you get killed there's a chance that he may break your sword 😮 and you have to kill him to get it repaired...I'm assuming it just happened once because legendaries cannot be broken, which is what I've used most of the time...Anyways, this whole system is awesome!

The game can be very random for me, and when maybe something random happens, I could be sad or angry or or get a laugh

This game looks so good! I'm desperately trying to finish shadow of mordor in time before the new one comes out. And also trying to find myself a worthy arch nemesis to import bc the one I have is just annoying, I was a cool arch nrmesis, not the equivalent of jeff from accounting :///

Just once i wish they'd put in a "Orgor the fluffy" or a "Urmoor the cuddler" in there just for poops and giggles, and you have you begrudgingly get them like 5 live bunnies for them to join your army :D

I really loved the inmense amount of grind at the end of the game!!!!
The taunt isnt New, if in Shadow of Mordor an uruk with a specific skill, oneshotes you he will say something like: "You are not Worthy die" and leave you alone
I was taking massive poison damage from a captain and almost died but I killed him and some random Uruk came behind me and finished me off, his name was unimportant-nut the coward and he also turned out to be decently strong
You can also stealth kill with caragors in shadow of mordor
2:10 seems Prak the funny one wasn't actually dead

the humiliation mechanic was already in SoM

I imagine, although my preference may change, I may not really use the elemental modifiers. Just my playstyle, may change later.

This video wasn't well done, I had no idea that he had even started with number 1 until he started naming Uruks on top of a very quiet monotone voice with the gameplay getting in the way of as well as distracting from what he's talking anout
People need to stop with wining about micro transactions. It's and extra thing. it isn't pay to win because you can't win a battle just by paying you just need to be a good player. Just look at the good things from the game like the gameplay
Why there's any mention about the history?? The new system is great but what bout history mode?!
I really dont like the capture points in fortresses the alpha gameplay looked way more fun because you dont have to go to the capture point en you can just go everywhere during the fort assault

Since it represses celebrimbor?....second...am i the only one who thinks that celebrimbor killing stormbringer with the hammer...in the same way he/his family was killed is kinda..sick? I mean its practically the same animation..o.0
JUST ENJOY THE DAMN GAME MECHANICS PEOPLE! GOD! all i see are people whining about microtransactions... you don't always have to complain to make it stop, you can just encourage other players NOT to pay real money for such things.

+Harry Webb you can bring drakes with you on fortress assaults, but they don't come ready branded - you have to break and then dominate them. Until that point, they'll attack everybody.

Do you think they will make sidequests and grinding in this game fun ? The answer is no they will make it as boring as possible so people will just pay 15$ to skip it and get the gear without grinding
Ugh, I hate respeccing, and whoever decided that it should be in any games at all needs to be tarred and feathered. Even worse in this game, what's even the point of enemies having strengths and weaknesses when you can easily just bypass each one?
There better be some information this guy missed that somehow makes respeccing less attractive.

I loved Shadow of Mordor and from the little we've seen, this game seems to be everything we love from the original game, on steroids. I'm a bit worried about microtransactions. Don't get me wrong, it's not because I'm pissed that I won't be getting the best loot faster. This game seems like one of the few games I wouldn't mind grinding in. I'm more concerned about the orcs. I will be mad if they lock special orcs behind paywalls, orcs with especially clever writing or unique designs. I hate it when things too little to be DLC yet too large to be an inconsequential addition to your story be reduced to a microtransaction. Really undermines the whole 'random orc' aspect of the nemesis system. But microtransactions aren't a dealbreaker, I would just be very disappointed that I could not experience the game in it's entirety for the 60$ I'm already paying.
The devs stated that all items found in the loot boxes are found in game and nothing is only available through the mt's
Ah, cool! What made me skeptical were the '5 exclusive uruks' part of the preorder, I think the devs are telling the truth about this because I trust Monolith. It's Warner Bros. that I don't trust.
Yeah while I'm not a fan of the mts i don't think it will completely ruin the game like everyone thinks it will it seems to play like SoM so as long as it's fun then I'm fine with them. And if they do make the game more grindy then it will probably help because the first game was really easy maybe we'll get a challenge now?
Yeah exactly! Shadow of Mordor was insanely easy once you got all the right upgrades, it got even easier once the GOTY came out, with all those OP runes. I think the game without the microtransactions would be playing the game as Monolith intended. Shadow of Mordor was a game that got more fun the more you died as evidenced by the cool stories taht can be told (see Eurogamer's Let's Play) so I don't mind dying to interesting enemies just because I didn't pay for OP gear. But as I said before, if unique troops and quests are locked behind paywalls, well, let's just say I'll be disappointed.
You know thinking about it, coming from a game like Skyrim and other highly modable games, adding uruks as DLC would mean that their might be a way to make custom uruks in mods as well. Of course restrict their multiplayer use, but honestly a prospect like that is really exiting as well. Unlikely, but it was something that I thought was missing form the first game as well. Some kind of mod support.
