Gee, she's good. I still really like the ABBA version though.
When the 30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition album of Chess was released in 2014 it should have had 'When The Waves Roll Out To Sea', 'Lo Creo Conocer (Spanish Version of I Know Him So Well)' and many other demos included as bonus tracks.
Not sure who messed up the sound of this legendary demo-recording. It should be the same as the alternate version of Tommy Körberg with slightly different lyrics called "With the stars up in the sky". It is actually one of the best songs, that B&B have ever written: top musical, very romantic and could have well fitted towards the end of Chess just before "You and I" which became the finale of "Chess". "Just like that" is a nice popsong but nowhere near the high musical level of this original song-concept. Just imagine this jewel played with a large orchestra, piano, several dozents of strings as in a Verdi-opera ... this really has got a massive sound-potential.

OK, I understand the situation now... My "3 demo mix" of "Just like that" has just been blocked, so I was looking for answers... seems like the verses of the song ended up here, and the chorus ended up somewhere else... unfortunately, both songs that resulted from that spilt don't seem as catchy as ABBA's original unreleased version, they both seem rather tragic and musical-y.
elaine played this on one of her radio shows about 10 years ago in perfect quality from her copy of the demo tape. that may still be on the net somewhere. far better quality than this upload.
I know there is a better version out there as well but I do have it but due to reasons beyond my control can’t post it as was posted and u-music blocked it.

Wow - could this be the version I saved from her Radio 2 show? I unfortunately lost it (PC got accidentally formatted) and have been looking everywhere for it. She also played her demo version of Just Like That. :o)
Does anybody know how to get a better quality version of this song? I’ve been looking everywhere for one...

Lovely demo, but Just Like That was the version that needed no improvement.
I actually found a copy of the CD Chess Demos on my mobile phone that I apparently have since 2014, yet on the CD, that at the time circulated among ABBA fanatics, somebody mixed the names up so "When the Waves" is called there "You and I" (no 10) as "You and I" is on it twice. Mind you it is rather noisy but I also once recorded the Elaine Paige show where she told her audience that B&B (the boys, as she calls them) allowed her to play it on her show due to immensive request. But can't remember if that was less noisy. But I can not remember, where I actually put this show on as I must have it one of my countless external harddrives. I also once had it on one of my early mobile phones but it somehow disappeared. However I think "Just like that" is a danceable tune that might have some notes from "When the waves" in it even though I can't find them at the moment but the Elaine-version is one of the best tunes they have ever written. I just wonder at what point of the story in Chess it was meant to be. I mean it has meaningful lyrics ... no dummy ones. I actually can imagine both songs taking place just before "You and I".
