@@NickBurnsFPV Would you please help im a beginner and just bought the Tinyhawk II Freestyle. I just want to buy extra batteries for but have no idea what and where to look for. Could you please just send me a link to a battery I can just plug and play and not have to do any work on the drone?

Are 5Amps ESCs at Tinyhawk II Freestyle enough? Right now at Banggood Tinyhawk II Freestyle have nice discount. But I'm worried, if 5 Amps are enough for 2S? A saw even 29A highest current in blackbox videos, this is 7.25A per ESC. Ughhh... I'm not beginner anymore. While I have so many 1S batteries available that I need something to fly with them. Just Moblite7 and Mobula7 are not enough, cos I have 6x 450mAH, 5x 550mAh and 9x 650mAh. So definitely I'm searching for something where I could use 2 batteries at the same time. I would go with Tinyhawk II Freestyle immediately, if 5 Amps are enough for 2S? Otherway I have to go with Tinyhawk III Plus Freestyle, where I need to buy also ELRS module. Cos I'm not on ELRS yet. XM+ works for me great. Both mentioned whops have good about 200m range anyway. Or is there anything else, where I could use whole pile of 1S batteries? Maybe Crux3 1S? Thank you, good luck.
Hello, I own and fly one of those from the rtf kit. I have a question as curiousity got me. You hover at like 10 percent throttle. I hover at like 20-25 something. I'm at high rate profile (number 2) not the beginner one it comes with. Do you think my quad has any issues or did you spesifically set yours in a way that you hover at less throttle?
I don't fundamentally change anything in the betaflight settings for reviews. I use my rates I have been using for years, and put the osd elements on screen what and where I have been using them for years. If it was always this way there is either an issue with the quad or the batteries. If it wasn't always this way its likely the batteries. flying battery low to say less than 3.2v/cell isn't good for the long term health and performance.
Dear Mr. Burns, Can you tell us the version of Betaflight yours came with? Mines arrived with 4.1.0 with 8K/8K and accelerometer on with +45% utilization. It seems too much for a little F4 board. Waiting on the BetaFPV Lite Radio 2 to test them... Thanks!
yes, we need to give it some pitch or roll. We don't need to give it throttle, just a direction to try to flip. Be careful. If the props can't spin this can cause a voltage spike and kill the esc.
Awesome review as always Mr. Burns. Lately you're my go to reviewer for whoops. This review made me order my TH Freestyle II today as soon as I saw it, same thing with my Mobula6.
I've had my eye on one of these little guy's,,,,love the 2.5's ,,if i can't fly my 5"ers ,i like the 2.5's better then the 3",might be me or the power to weight,,,,,thanks Nick
If I removed the battery strap and ran it around the entire body of the quad, do you think I could jam the Runcam Split 3 Nano in it (maybe by heat shrinking the DVR and gluing it to the top plate)? Insta360 Go is awesome, but my beginner skills mean that I'll break that camera in an instant.
possible, but the split 3 nano board is 30.5x30.5mm so the alignment might mean the strap would then be pinching the board. A Whoop board and the emax board won't line up very well, likely need a 3d print adapter to mount the split board.
I'm new to FPV and have a few questions - Is using URUAV 3.8V 450mAh 50/100C 1S HV 4.35V Lipo Battery PH2.0 on the stock USB charger mixed with the batteries that come with the drone an OK idea? I am purchasing a voltage meter to make sure they are similar voltages. How do I know when the batteries are done charging? Is switching the 1s connector for a 2s on the drone a difficult thing to do? Any good videos on that? Any charging tips for me? Thanks
having mixed batteries on that charger is fine, the charger should shut the channel down when charging has finished. Normally the light is on during charging and off or a slow dim flicker when not charging. Switching from the ph2.0 connect to xt30 is pretty straight forward. Snip the wires, strip back the insulation a few mm, apply solder to the exposed ends, tin/prep the xt30 with a bit of solder, plug the male side of the xt30 into the the female side being attached to the quad, this helps keep the xt30 shape during the soldering. The xt30 will have a + and - on them match black wire to - and red wire to +.
Not sure how we should measure it, but its larger than say the 0802 motor mounting pattern. They don't list the motor pattern on the motor page sheesh. emax-usa.com/emax-th1103-tinyhawk-freestyle-replacement-motor-7000kv.html
Did you tune it? I just flew stock tune and it is atrocious! Very low rates on acro, and on stable it kept pulling me more and more to the right and was practically unfliable. Do you have a tune that you can share?
hi how are u? I'm not good at freestyle and i wanna improve it. Is this quad good for improve it and also for hard freestyle? thank u and i wish you answer me
Flying isn't easy, it takes time and patience...and sometimes its hard on our $$. This is a good quad to fly with, there are many good micros on the market today. Pick one in your budget and you like the flight performance.
Question I have the first freestyle and my Video feed is horrible. I can’t go out more than 30 feet without having black lines flash across the screen and I crash. Is there anything I can do
We can try a different channel, something over 5800mhz might help. Maybe a different environment and different head/antenna position? That's really about all without spending moeny.
Great review as always and just love your flying skills! If I had to choose between the TinkHawk II Freestyle or the GEPRC Phantom, what would be the best choice?
I think the phantom is more agressive flyer, but it has the caddx eos which can have a red hue to it sometimes. The runcam nano 2 is more natural and consistent.
@@NickBurnsFPV Apart from the camera not being as good as on the Freestyle II, would I be correct in assuming the Phantom is a faster quad with a better more durable build quality?
@@shanejohnstone4245 I would agree its faster and possibly more durable. I haven't broken either but so many have both and I have read more reports of the tinyhawk breaking than the phantom.
@@NickBurnsFPV Thanks Nick, really appreciate the advice. From my research, it appears both are good quads but both have their own issues. Any suggestion on a build kit for a similar-sized freestyle 2.5-3" that has all the good stuff where building my own might be an option?
@@shanejohnstone4245 Building opens a host of possibilities and choices.I would look at the fpvcycle.com toothpick equipment, or gnarlyfpv.com and the primo, many variations on today's micro builds, although most of them are bottom mount batteries. I have built "toothpicks" on the N47 frame from fullspeedrc.com and the damfastfpv.com frame, and a number of others. 3inch is likely the highest performing and efficient, but some of the options mentioned are 2.5inch as well. On 3 in prop, I would use 120x ~5000kv motors on 2.5inch we can run 1103 all the way up to 120x. The taller the motor (ending number) the better it will handle certain props, maybe a bit heavier or more pitch props, the shorter the motor we likely need lower pitch and bi-blades. There is a lot of personal desires to the choices. I have flown so many and been told to run different props, I run the props I run on the quad to get the flight feel or flight time I think most are looking for.
I’m not in the market for something like this but, This is the fourth review of this quad that I’ve seen. (I save the best for last) This is the first one that made me want to buy it. What kind of voodoo are you using on me. Proving that a residential area can be flyable draws me to your style of review.
No voodoo here. I think I have to fly them a lot, so I have plenty of information to share about it. I make a few short notes when they hit me, feels like it comes out natural and straight. I am glad you enjoyed the video. I hope I can continue to meet that high regard.
Appreciate your comment about turtle mode with this specific model. My board got fried after doing turtle mode (too aggressively in too deep of grass). I'm thinking that's what happened.
Just got the tinyhawk 2 rtf bundle. As a next quad would you recommend this freestyle or the race? Out of the 3, which do you think would best be compatible with carrying an insta360 go? Keep up the great work!
I would move to something a bit more aggressive, like the GTB339 or the ER349. The Emax micros fly similarly, they mostly have the same prop and motor size and weight.
Like the aircraft but mine "exploded" after only a few flights during a normal Bettafilght Air Mode landing. Somewhat bumpy landing but not at all unsual. The SUPPORTS are made from NYLON and stripped out. Pieces and screws went every which way. I'm replacing them with METAL. Lost one of the camera supports during the incident. 3D Printing another one. Having to design it myself. Unable to find one online. Can't wait to get it back in the air. Really performs. Hopefully it will hold up this time after fixing the DESIGN FLAW. 2s is about as big as you want to go on this class aircraft. Have a couple 3s in this size, too awkward.
We don't have to. It will take some trial and error to figure out what switches do what function on the quad. Connecting the quad to betaflight will sure make it easier.
Question.... just ordered the TH freestyle 2 and I own the original as well. I dont fly it much because the vtx range is just about awful. Is the original freestyle vtx able to be "unlocked" and switchable to a higher power output? Thanks so much in advance.
No the original freestyle is not power switchable but the freestyle 2 is. In the video I make reference to the last emax micro release which was the TH Race 2, which has the same flight controller and vtx.
@@NickBurnsFPV right on....that's what I thought but I knew you'd know for sure. My TH freestyle 2 just shipped today and I paid for the expedited shipping.... I'm so stoked. There are a bunch of useful tidbits of information in that and doing during the flight helps keep the video from being 45 minutes long. The instructions are pretty good, but I have heard some have had issues with the radio fully working. In this video I am use the older x-lite radio.

turtle mod requires dshot on in the configuration page and then the "flip over after crash" mod to be assigned to a switch. Then when we need it we activate the "flip over after crash" switch/mod and give the right stick some input. I only recommend using turtle mod on micros when we can reach it otherwise. Best to walk to it than to burn a motor or esc using turtle mod on micros.
Don't do it! Delete that shit and walk. Seriously you will burn out the escs, they are tiny on this drone, if you don't believe me, focus a magnifying glass near the motor wire solder points, those microscopic squares are the escs.
The difference is very small. It largely depends on any preference for top or bottom mount battery. The freestyle does offer a bit more camera protection.
There are two sides, I kinda like it, as long as they get it to everyone well in advance. Having a release date, stops the first to publish YT rush, which should mean a higher quality video and much more information available all at once. I do appreciate you deciding to watch my video. Thank you

That one another one of the ESC's just got super sporadic It would only occasionally fire up. very unstable and it stalled my use of my 450's which all puffed and died from neglect. At that point I'd pretty much written off the platform
@@NickBurnsFPV If I ever get my Gen 1 TH in service again I'll likely just hold on to sell it because I don't want to invest in new 450's at this point. I have a Mob 6 & 7 using the slim 250/300's which I love and for anything bigger I expect to go to an XT30 2S+. Frankly the Kabab's TP3 looks so damn awesome, but I'd need a BNF/PNP as my soldering skills really suck. Your flights on his were awesome and your flying style is a great sample for me to see if a product will likely be right for me. I learn something every time I come here. Rock on!
ps: Very sad you didn't get to yell "STICKERS!" with this THFS2 :p
@@Andrew_O had the same problem with my thS. I removed the connectors from the board and soldered motor wires directly to the pads. Works beautifully now, try it, unless your worked your escs with turtle mode they should be ok
The slack in the wires does become a problem, i ended up hot gluing my motor wires to the arms, not a problem with thf1. Turtle mode will burn out these tiny esc. The VTX is still shit, the vtx aerial electrical tie can snap, mine did first flight, ended up cutting a insert for it with my dremel and more hot glue. Replaced the stupid Velcro strap with tinyhawk S style rubber bands. These little guys are awesome, my fav. Can you tell us how to switch the vtx to 200mw in betaflight?
Great video. So in 2022, what other quads offer similar capabilities in this size category?
Its not all the similar but the flywoo nano20 is better imho.
Order the first freestyle two days before this came out. Got it and there was a piece of the FC floating around the box lol I will be returning it and hopefully getting this version
That's no good. I hope the return goes well.

Dear Mr. Burns,
Can you tell us the version of Betaflight yours came with? Mines arrived with 4.1.0 with 8K/8K and accelerometer on with +45% utilization. It seems too much for a little F4 board.
Waiting on the BetaFPV Lite Radio 2 to test them...
Thanks!
Mine did come with BF 4.1.0, 8k/8k and accelerometer on. I see the cpu load bounce from 38% to 42%. I fly in acro and it did not impact how I flew it.
My alltime favourite quad just got better, somehow sad that there is no crossfire option. Thanks a lot for the excellent review Nick!
Crossfire can be a barrier, especially with so many saving weight with spi rx.
I tried turtle mode and it did not work when I flipped the switch. I never knew you had to give it some throttle 😆 thanks for that tip.
yes, we need to give it some pitch or roll. We don't need to give it throttle, just a direction to try to flip. Be careful. If the props can't spin this can cause a voltage spike and kill the esc.
Thank god the first TH2F review where the reviewer flies with assertion ;)
Nice job on the review champ well done 😁👌
Thank you👌😀 back at ya
Awesome review as always Mr. Burns. Lately you're my go to reviewer for whoops. This review made me order my TH Freestyle II today as soon as I saw it, same thing with my Mobula6.
I hope they serve you well with many many fun flights.
Im beginner and how it works with taranis x9 lite? I should buy a transmitter or smth like that?
First TH did not have a switchable VTX only 25mw
Nice review and quad
I think it's funner to fly my th2 whoop .but love flying the racer ...I have yet to buy a free style ..but I think I'm gonna get one
@@NickBurnsFPV thanks for the info! Found some prints on banggood. Will see if I try. 😂
Great drone...can you show us how to solder Flysky rx instead Frsky? I think It can.
Yes please and or crossfire
I'm new to FPV and have a few questions -
Is using URUAV 3.8V 450mAh 50/100C 1S HV 4.35V Lipo Battery PH2.0 on the stock USB charger mixed with the batteries that come with the drone an OK idea?
What are the dimensions of the mounting holes? Looks like it is similar to a normal sized whoop in one direction.
Not sure how we should measure it, but its larger than say the 0802 motor mounting pattern. They don't list the motor pattern on the motor page sheesh. emax-usa.com/emax-th1103-tinyhawk-freestyle-replacement-motor-7000kv.html
Real solid flying! I have an OG BabyHawk R that I don't use much. I'm wondering if the TH2FS would be a good quad to replace it..
The OG baby hawk doesn’t hold a candle to current timyhawks. Everything has gotten better over time
@@NickBurnsFPV really? That's impressive considering my BabyHawk R is 3S.
@@Kin0bii Sorry, I was thinking the original babyhawk, the white one.
@@NickBurnsFPV well I ordered one and will find out for myself soon! Thanks though
Did you tune it? I just flew stock tune and it is atrocious! Very low rates on acro, and on stable it kept pulling me more and more to the right and was practically unfliable.
Do you have a tune that you can share?
Can I chop the battery connector off and put a xt30 to run a real 2s battery? Or will the current flow be to nice at that point?
It should be fine. The pcb between the two connectors doesn't have any electronics, just solder pads.
hi how are u?
Nick Burns thanks
Your review stands out as always.
Thank you 🙏
Can I use gnb 650mah 2s lipo with xt30 on this . it's only 2.5 grams more then the 2 x 450mah batteries
yes, it will be fine.
did you end up trying this? I am planning to do the XT30 mod and order some of the GNB 2S 650mah lipo's
@@HealthSimplified Check MuteFPV video about that - not much difference.
Appreciate your comment about turtle mode with this specific model. My board got fried after doing turtle mode (too aggressively in too deep of grass). I'm thinking that's what happened.
Yes, its best to reserve turtle mod for emergency recovery, if we can retrieve normally its best to do so.
I can't bind this TH II freestyle with my x9 lite with xjt module D8. Lights doesn't blink on bind. How can I fix this?
are you pressing the bind button on the flight controller?
Hi nick pls reply ASAP.If I bind my beta flight lite radio 2 se to my tiny hawk 2freesttlye do I have to configure everything in the beta flight
We don't have to. It will take some trial and error to figure out what switches do what function on the quad. Connecting the quad to betaflight will sure make it easier.
Nick, which would be a better first "toothpick" (I'm still learning to fly), this or the GepRC Phantom?
I suggest the phantom. The components are more standardized.
EMAX Tinyhawk II Freestyle or Geelang WASP 85X ? hiw do you think ? wich really better ?
I think it comes down largely to the preference of the cameras. The flight performance is very similar.

Great review as always. FYI, I like all the commentary during the flights with the added content. There are a bunch of useful tidbits of information in that and doing during the flight helps keep the video from being 45 minutes long.
BTW, you said something about this being capable of being bound to the transmitter that Emax sells. If so, were you referring to the game controller style that they sell with their RTF kits? I'm curious as I have a family member who just bought the Emax brushed RTF kit to get started in the hobby. It'd be nice to use that controller for more that one quad.
Yes. It’s very much a beginner and likely a thumb controller but it’s cheap and does d8 mode. The betafpv lite 2 controller is a higher quality radio. In the moment I am forgetting the pricing
@@NickBurnsFPV Thanks. Yes, I actually already have a BetaFPV controller on it's way as well. My sister wanted to get a starter setup to try while working from home. also, what transmitter are you flying with in the footage you show
I have a video on the radio, but don't go into live binding rather and overview. The primary barrier with this quad and the radio is to ensure the radio is in d8 mode. The instructions are pretty good, but I have heard some have had issues with the radio fully working. In this video I am use the older x-lite radio.
hi nick can it bind to the betafpv literadio 2 se
yes, we need to use d8 mode. Frsky_d in the betaflight configuration and d8 mode on the radio.

What batteries do you recommend for this quad? It says it comes with 1s 450mah but id like someone else's opinion too

200mw. In the osd we can see before arm its at 25mw, then on arm it goes to the setting I had for 200mw. This is a setting in betaflight I forget the name.
I expected little more innovations. As a owner of upgraded original THFS I have no need to buy this one. I was ready to give EMAX my money - maybe I try Race 2 :). Thank you for nice review.

You said you can bind by D16????
The spec list it supports d16. I have not bound in d16
Nick could you share your beta flight config for turtle?
turtle mod requires dshot on in the configuration page and then the "flip over after crash" mod to be assigned to a switch.
