I think this is going to be a tough sell…there are plenty of lighter analog bnf’s that don’t really struggle with durability, and the new battery connector adds an unnecessary expense for most.
Which whoops do you feel fit the lighter and durable niche? I ask as most commenting on one or another have strong feelings about the lack of reliability.
I personally have had great luck with the air series as far as durability. I’m not saying this emax won’t be more durable, but rather that I don’t feel like that’s something I really need, especially at the expense of this much weight.
It is nice to get everything together, and I started fpv with a very similar kit from emax. However, I would encourage someone new to the hobby to look at something like an air65, radiomaster boxer/zorro/pocket, skyzone cobra setup and learning the betaflight/elrs setup process. If you stick with fpv, you’ll most likely replace every piece of this kit.
This is targeting entry level pilots. Which makes it even more annoying that they put a different connector on there. Newbies will learn on this, buy more packs for their connector and then when they decide to grow into a better quad they will realize none of their batteries will work and they break the bank again.
Again, you delivered a thoughtful review and always a fan! Emax Emax...Emax, they love rubberbands for battery mounts, if they didn't do this it would NOT be Emax. Proprietary battery connector? Not surprised and sure ain't mad about it. And a tanky whoop? Don't cry about it, build your own....but AGAIN, Emax, lol. 😂 I have a Nanohawk X, love it. Why? It is quiet, fast and was on sale. Oh, no jello too. Downside? FRSKY, cuz ELRS. ALSO got 3 Nanohawks! All slightly different. Breakdown: 1) Bone stock with AZI bi-blades on BetaFlight. 2) Not stock at all with AZI tri-blades on EMU-Flight. PMB tune 3) Stock build with stock props on Quicksilver (65 mm preset). No Acro mode, just angle and horizon! I brought them all out to play. Two of the three had jello, unsure why cuz when I put them away months ago, ALL three were Jello free. Most people hate them for just that reason, Jello! But those stock props work great until they don't and usually the cause for jello (wavy video). Cure for most issues is a prop change and checking the screws for "tightness"... Anywho, if done correctly, excellent flight feel and CAN handle the outdoors with a slight breeze rather easily. They aint long range and I have much faster whoops.... But again a nice park flyer. Will I purchase this new heavy weight whoop? Of course 😊
I started in FPV back in April. I ordered the EMAX analog goggles as my very first goggles. I dont wear glasses and the screen was blurry fully extended. I found a 3d print on Thingiverse that's an extender for these goggles which got the picture clear but man the goggles were enormous on my face. I would skip these goggles as a beginner and spend a bit more. I got the fatshark scout goggles and what a difference and much smaller and image was in focus not to mention dramatically better range.
@@NickBurnsFPV I bought them on Amazon a couple of months ago for 180$ they are 199 right now so yeah they are almost double the Emax goggle. Your reviews are always amazing! I just can not get behind proprietary products (Emax is well known for). I really want standard mounting and connections - or as close to it as possible. I'm definitely an advocate of durability, though. Man, your having all the fun, thank you for sharing. Enjoy the Breeze...👍🏻🍻👊🏻
Great vid. I like all of your vids and love the format. When I watch your vids I know exactly what I'm getting. I like that. I'm taking notes for my own channel as well.
Awesome flying and review, Nick!!! 😃 But new battery connector? Ok, it's open source, but the GNB connectors are as well, so... I don't know, but it's pretty weird. Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Emax are such contrarians when it comes to battery connectors. It's like one of THE biggest reason I never bother with their products. Before they'd release just ph2.0 connectors on their drones, and yes, I can swap it out, but I don't wanna, now they are going with some other thing that isn't compatible with what most other people have. Bah. Annoying company. Guess they just don't like money.
I've used BT 2.0 in those new emax connectors and they seem to work and fit just fine. There's a flat end and a rounded end just like BT 2.0 and the only difference really is a little gusset in the middle.
@@bryanteger I think you are talking about GNB's A30 connector which is as you described and does work with BT2.0 batteries. This is a wholly different connector from EMAX.
Hahaha. The "More wine" sign up by the jar of corks! 🤣 As a father of 5 (3 girls, 2 boys) I feel that 1,000%. As far as this video goes, Emax does a pretty decent job with their kits. Beginners can't go wrong with these.
This looks like the end of the Tinyhawk series of whoops - or at least moving that line in a different direction. I can see me using this drone as a travel whoop - wherae I'm okay with a bit if extra weight because I'm not racing and I don't carry tools to repair stuff.
Would love to see a teardown video of this. I'll be passing on the quad, but curious what the FC and VTX weigh on their own. Decent whoop FC's without a built-in VTX are getting rarer these days.

@@ZeroVoltFPV Nice. We have a pretty well respected cello teacher in town. They do concerts 3-4 times a year. Sometimes is classical, other times rock, country or anything. @@NickBurnsFPV That is fantastic! Having such an involved community is magic. I am sure I will pull the trigger and buy a Cello within the next few years or so. Learning a fretless instrument is certainly next on my list.

That could be a deal breaker unless one is willing to change the connection to Bt 2.0 or buy all new 1S batteries just for the one whoop. I have the Emax Pilot Pro, It was a great for beginners package and was my first live flying, which helped me learn a little muscle memory. These are just my thoughts. Once again, I appreciate your straight-up review. For the price it is a great starter kit.
We could make adapters, which after the fact is likely why they included extra em2.0 connectors. But I suspect this is a decision not based on those in the fpv hobby/market currently.
I wonder if EMax are aiming for the beginner market where durability matters more than weight. If so, perhaps we won't see a Tinyhawk 4 whoop in 75mm. All my 65mm drones are lightweight "send it" drones, though I do appreciate the tankiness of the Tinyhawk III whoops when my dog wants something to chase and chomp.
Almost impossible to find a video of just the nano scout BNF. All you creators always put the kit on your videos which is super easy to do since it's already bound and ready to go it would be nice if somebody did a video of the bind and fly to show binding and setup of everything else.
Oh, and here we are again with a quad that has totally inadequate "into prop arc" placement. This should NOT be an afterthought!! Maybe thats why it "needs" 400? 😂

The biggest benefit to owning EMAX as my first FPV, is learning the hard way how to filter out antiquated products. If you're new to FPV and don't know what to buy, follow these guidelines for your first purchase. For $20 more you can get an ELRS Radiomaster pocket and can use it with a $100 tinywhoop all the way up to a $600 Nazghul. Plus it's like 300% better of a radio for only 40% more money. The goggles are pretty decent for the money. It's the only thing that still works from my original Emax kit. I still use them to this day for analog craft, but I would purchase them separate and just piece together your own kit, instead of buying this package.
Connector is EM2.0 and is literally brand new. It has a larger pin size and lower connection resistance than BT2.0/A30 and GNB27. But unnecessarily so, and is also unnecessarily heavy. I would change it out for BT immediately. But I'm also not their target market. The E8 radio is ELRS and stock has MUCH better gimbals and ergonomics than the pocket, but everything else is way worse. Otherwise I 100% agree with your sentiment.

Why would someone get this over the EZ pilot pro or Tinyhawk 3? Not a negative comment. Its an honest question. Looking at their website I think the other options are better so not sure why they added this to their lineup and its more expensive than the ez pilot. I'm also honestly stumped why they never made the Nanohawks in RTF kit packages.
@NickBurnsFPV i ment coming in this late in the game is just a total 100% fail... If they offer a battery that is as good and way cheaper then id retract my statement... But i doubt their giving away sub standard products....
well, the battery connector brings a big WTF to my mind. what kind of move is this... if i want this quad i need a whole new set of batteries that probably theyre the only one to sell and then i need another goddamn charger because finding adapters for this is probably going to take a while to be mailed in coz there is only one seller and he lives under a rock in china.
Maybe they feel this is a good fit for the STEM or other similar groups where one person is "in charge" of multiple others in FPV? Maybe there is some other target group I am not familiar with

For me and how I like to fly, only considering the flying. 65mm - NBD Hummingbird v3.1 racespec. 75mm - betafpv air 75
Why would they change the connector? I'm guessing that is just a money grab so you have to get new packs and charger... Lame
It would be interesting to know the why, but I don't know.
🆒️
Don’t be ph2.0 please
That battery connector is massive fail... Just too late
The batteries are going to have to be cheaper and just as good performing as those we have been favoring.
@NickBurnsFPV i ment coming in this late in the game is just a total 100% fail... If they offer a battery that is as good and way cheaper then id retract my statement... But i doubt their giving away sub standard products....
@@DigitalCruzer sure. Gotcha
08015 👊🏼
well, the battery connector brings a big WTF to my mind. what kind of move is this... if i want this quad i need a whole new set of batteries that probably theyre the only one to sell and then i need another goddamn charger because finding adapters for this is probably going to take a while to be mailed in coz there is only one seller and he lives under a rock in china.
Maybe they feel this is a good fit for the STEM or other similar groups where one person is "in charge" of multiple others in FPV? Maybe there is some other target group I am not familiar with
i hate this company more than DJI and their dumb proprietary stuff. at least DJI makes stuff actually worth buying, jesus christ. still enjoyed the video though!
lol, not laughing at you but to a degree with you. Now tell me how you really feel :)
Your thumbnail is so stupid but funny
lol, pretty bad. Couldn't figure out how to get everything in one picture.
@NickBurnsFPV 🤣🤣🤣🤣I LOVED it
