most people don't realize that most rally cars must be street legal, insured, and registered due to the fact that they must be driven between sectors while on public roads.
Well in Melbourne that isn't street legal soo.. Can't remove airbags, can't have a race harness has to be standard seatbelt, also can't have a full roll cage, the other mods you can have but they need to be signed off by an engineer for street use.
Was hoping a porsche would roll up and want a test. If another driver didn’t notice the cage or the sound of the transmission….. those non-glass windows should have been sending flags! Such a cool car
Burnley tunnel is amazing. I took my BMW S1000R in there with a full system and SC project shorty can. sounded fucking brutal. kids where waving to me from the cars 🤣
Do you use the clutch on downshifts with a transmission like that? I imagine you use it while starting but do you use the clutch besides that with a sequential?
Straight cut gears are stronger best for rally or track days but not great for daily drive. I installed ppg simi helical gears not so winning or noisy as straight cuts but reasonably stronger.
@@themadgarage You could get a lot of views if you did an ASMR video of driving that beast on public roads like you were in this video. Even just chatting to the camera is fine, but sometimes with car videos music takes away from the best part, the sound :)
Kit alone would cost a fortune not to mention the Labor and other plugins and whatnots and when it's due for service that will set you back a few thousands. Really an investment 😮
Lol so how it's a full cage with front overhead, harnesses AND seats with side wings legal to drive on a street lol. I've been wanting my track car that's registered to just get home from trackdays and been told big no no. What's the trick lol
Hey! Rally registration/permits are used for rally cars as they have to drive on the public roads between rally stages on event. Or in this instance a specific permit to transport between the shipping docks and the workshop. Rally cars have more requirements than track cars to allow them on the roads for specific purposes. Hope that answers the question! 😊
Yeah the roll bars don't obstruct your ability to head check at all. Good to see your putting the rest of us on the road at risk for a few likes. It's not like there's enough f wits on the road, we need more.
So all truck drivers and anyone without rear side windows is putting you in danger too?? I was always taught to keep an eye on my mirrors so you don’t even need to head twist and look away for extended periods from looking ahead.
@@traversw123 trucks are up higher ya peanut. They have a better view than cars. So driving a car with a roll cage is legal on Victorian roads. It's better to cut out the music for the video. It's really distracting.
"Sound never gets old" yet we're being forced to listen to music instead of the straight cut gears.
most car videos always have fucking shit music playing over.
The music was barely noticeable, if that is a distraction to you? Your in for a he'll of a ride in life.
@@hulkgqnissanpatrol6121barely noticeable? You must have kids 😂

That must have been so tempting to build a gap and give it some in the tunnels for that sound!
I was about to type the same thing haha

Cool, interesting to know 👍👍
Does that mean everything is engineered for it to be legal?
It’s not regular rego there are differences.

Anti lag in the tunnel would have been awesome 😂😊
braaaa pa pa pa pa!
you picked a good time that's pretty light traffic compared to usual days traffic gets backed up from bolte and Westgate bridge
Next challenge: daily it in peak hour for a week 🤣
Not sure I’m game for that! 😅
What a buzz to drive that on the streets of Melbourne wow love it what a machine tuff as 💪💪💪☝️☝️☝️👌👌👌

Oh my god I'm so glad I live in the country outside a small town in cape Breton
If that’s peak hour I’ll take that everyday
Sound never gets old 😂
The only thing I want is the sequential gearbox. You can keep the rest. Thanks for showing this
This is comedy lmao I would’ve laughed for days if I saw this. Definitely would’ve followed you in my car 😂
I used to rally a RX3 back in the 90s and it was almost underivable on the road around the city
Ex Rx5 owner here ❤ never shoulda let her go.
I could live with driving it every day and having fun on weekends
First time watching your videos, nice car! Is the FA20DIT on it??
Im suprised you can drive it so slow, so well. Even a stock wrx gets a bit jerky in traffic.
The tune is surprisingly good at low speed!
You should pull the sun visor down so you can see. Oh wait there’s no interior. My bad
Do you use the clutch on downshifts with a transmission like that? I imagine you use it while starting but do you use the clutch besides that with a sequential?
u dont need a clutch pedal with a sequential gear box, they are designed to be used with actuators
Fresh out of the Almanac of Utterly Pointless Activities . . .
I have the same car but, manual it is hard and so much fun to drive around in the city
Youre car is not the same as this. hahah.
Is so distinctly Australian to drive a race car, remark on its sound at several points and then cover it all with bad music.
Straight cut gears are stronger best for rally or track days but not great for daily drive. I installed ppg simi helical gears not so winning or noisy as straight cuts but reasonably stronger.
No shit. We seen that
Yep - made to be driven flat out!
Sounded like Aircraft:)🤣😂
Tassie pride!
I would love to hear it more, but without the music :)
We can do that!

Why does that truck horn sound like Euro Truck Simulator...
pump the music louder! i could totally hear what she's saying
You got to drive through the black spurr during school holidays
i would rather take peak hour trains on the pak/cran line
Next: WRC vs. ALDI car park. 😅
Damn I want a sequential in my 12 sti hatchback so bad….

A cool daily. It just needs a radio 😅
So jealous.
I can barely tolerate a normal manual with a factory clutch. I can't imagine sequential with a performance clutch 😳
most dont have a clutch pedal, so it wouldnt matter. they use actuators

Can you pass the sound laws in Australia
I'm over 60 and I'd still have it as a daily driver.
safest car on the road
Poor car, you can tell she wants to run free and give it all she's got but she's hampered by the traffic.
Now do Sydney.....
generally surprised that's road legal in the grandma state
It’s under a special permit which allows you to drive between stages or to/from a workshop for a specific purpose 👍
That gearbox noise….
the trick drive fast don't stay behind slow cars keep on overtaking them
What's it like driving it in peak traffic? The same amount of sh*tty plus it's jerky and noisy, and everyone stares at you lol
Wasn’t the most enjoyable type of driving 😂😅
Why were the low speeds requiring high gears (60kph and being in 6th gear), which I'm assuming is not the case when the car is race-ready?
Keeping the rpm low to save my ears! 🙉
To answer your question. NO
That’s not peak hour on the Monash 😂 no way you’d be getting though that spot around 4:30-5pm at that speed
I just want pure car sound not music……..
Stay tuned 😊
Yeah thats aginst the law...
Specific permit to transport vehicle from shipping docks to the workshop. Rally registration scheme 👍
Click bait, not really peak hour traffic.
Music really ruined whole video
Worlds most liveable city 😂😂😂
music :(
im sorry how to u have the self respect to not let her eat down that highway
No i never wondered .Actually think if would be stupid idea , why not use an auto. And i wont even watch the rest of the clip. Traffic really..
that aint "peak" hour traffic lmao. if it was you wouldn't be driving hahahahaa

At least get up it.

All the gear, no idea.
