I think I have found the survival knife I want. This looks really good. Now I just need to get my hands on one.. It might be a while. I will let you know when I do.
I've been using one of these for over a year now and would rave about it all day long. Good steel, superbly heat treated making it better. Like recurves in a field knife always. Just works and no harder to sharpen with a ceramic rod which is what I prefer. Sheath has held up but isn't up to the knife, you're spot on there. If I lose this knife - which is the only way it'll need replacement - I can get another and still come out ahead of my next favorite blade (BK-22) since it's only $33 on Amazon at moment. Schrade came out with some great knives in '15 and '16 so this ones forgotten but it's still one of their best. Nothing it won't do, and contrary to some reviewers have been wrong about, it throws sparks just fine. (You gotta get that coating off your rod, people, sheez...) The unsharpened swedge gives it amazing tip strength. If you're wanting a great field knife and wanna save a few sheckles in the process, look no further.
I have one of those knives and like it for camping and have it to carry on my side when camping out. The knife seem to do a great job on the tasks I have for it. I like the sheath, but it could have been built better though, but I don't use it that much.
If you find yourself in a survival situation that's the kind of blade you are gonna need. Personally I would prefer a better steel in a survival situation but it all boils down to price. The review was great as usual.
If i was in a survival situation i would love any knife i had on my belt at the time lol I know what you mean bro,As for the steel on the schrade knife,I do like it.Easy to keep sharp. Thanks for watching Jeff.
I agree on the sheath. My "Chef 9" sheath sucks so I will order a customized Kydex for my knife. Your wood processing skills are great. Thanks for the review on the 26. I just placed my order.
Hi Foggy. Good review as always mate and I'm so glad you liked the knife. I bought a Schrade extreme survival F10 which pretty much looks Identical to the one in your review apart from the scales. Be safe and be lucky mate. Alan.
Yes mate,it does look like this, the scales on this do work well.I tried it with wet hands and my hands did not slip at all,Be safe Alan all the best to you sir.
Hello Foggy, Great review on the Schrade SCHF 26 survival knife. I will get one of them ordered time for some upgrades on knives. Thank you for sharing the information. Have a lovely day my friend.
Really nice review Foggy! I have an SCHF9, the first "survival" knife I owned. I really like it and, boy what a massive knife! I don't have long fingers and it was designed with a bulge in the center of the handle which made it hard to get a good grip even with the rubberized scales plus I purchased it when I would wrap paracord around everything that would sit still long enough thus making the grip situation worse. It needed a fix so…(don't cringe)…I whittled down the rubberized scales….. to fit my hand better then, since the scales were now basically ruined and unattractive (but this was always the plan) I removed the 7 strands from a length of paracord so it would flatten and rewrapped the handle. So much better now!! Great job sir and ATB…Tim
O Tim lol.Sounds like you had fun with that,Thats the best thing about the knives from schrade you can have fun a customize them to how you like them. They are cheap enough just to have some fun with,Thanks for watching bro.
Nice job Fog, looks like a great camp knife. Awesome texture on the handles, wish my Becker knife came with something like that. Schrade seems to have some great stuff out lately, glad you're getting new gear to try.
Things are good here Fog. Have you gotten a chance to look at the hollow handled Schrade knives yet? I would definitely consider one of them, always liked the ability to keep some items in the handle
Great review, mate! I bought the SCHF9 and love it but after watching your review and other very positive ones I will order the 26 from Amazon. It's hard to believe it's only $29!
Good looking knife foggy and, a good sensible review too :) My pal's been out collecting his driftwood from "that" river that runs under "that" bridge that's near his place :) Is he jammy or what LOL. Cheers mate......Les.

Daniel you can't go wrong with this knife. I have put it thru brutal tests of chopping and batoning wood.

Very true Foggy but a big chopper like that does the job quicker :)
