With a 160hp O320 and fixed Sensenich, I'm seeing a 120kt cruise speed at 2500RPM
Useful load is 700lbs
It has aux tanks which bring my max capacity up to 45.1 usable gallons! So, abouuuut 500-600nm range with an hour's reserve.
It is an experimental homebuilt aircraft and we bought it from the original builder. The total time on everything is 440 hours.
"We," meaning I decided to go in it with a partner to allow extra my 150 money to go into upgrades--like that panel.
Yes, I plan to put some digital gauges in those holes.
I'm convinced the GlaStar is the best kept secret out there. I can't wipe off my grin every time I climb in it!
Hi Amy, I am an aircraft maintenance engineer, this week we had a Glastar Sportsman of around a 2002 model come in for some snags, one of the things we found was corrosion on the tailplane, we battled to remove it - corrosion on the fwd anchor pins, (inside composite tail cone) , also found seized rudder bearing, rudder stop plate come adrift, basically all metal parts inside the composite tail cone/stinger have corrosion, as well as small tail wheel attaching brackets and hardware. I don't want to be over critical of engineers and inspections carried out but what we found is not seen with the tailplane in place. No Corrosion X or similar stuff was found to be applied to the area!!

I know Rich, and am very familiar with 69RX as he was building it when I was doing the final assembly of my homebuilt (N999MN) at Animas Airpark. You have a great aircraft that a lot of tender loving care went into it's building. Take care of it Amy!
