- Congratulations Mike for getting selected for USCG flight school!!! We found out the very next day after we went on this flight. I've flown with Mike a couple times in the C172 and C150 to help gauge his interest in flying and hopefully get a head start! I was thinking, "I need to take you up in the new airplane!" and so we did. Enjoy a simple evening of flying around in a lovely yellow airplane.
Regarding the CO issue, I took an afternoon to seal up any air leaks I could find and discovered it 100% solved the problem when I test flew it the next day. Therefore, I did fix it overnight!
Good to see Woodstock in the air. Looks really sleek in the taildragger configuration.
Sure does!
You need some Woodstock decals or a motif on the outside of the plane Amy!
Loved that steep turn! That was a great showing how tight Woodstock can turn around. Those f-15’s have nothing on you.
I really like Woodstock. Good to see you flying. Congrats to Mike for getting in the USCG flight school. I'm glad that you fixed the CO issue. I don't "think" it's effects are cumulative but best not to mess with it. But you know that... there was enough concern in your voice to know that.
I'm so jelly. I got my private in 2003, instrument in 2008, just about to finish commercial and multi and then life happened; wife, four kids, moving around the country. The kids are growing so there is a chance of life happening again. Love watching your videos, beautiful scenery, every landing is a squeaker with you, I hope my daughter or my sons will be interested one day in flying around.
Thanks for posting! I love that area, my son was stationed at Whidbey Island. I love Whidbey Island coffee!
Look at that bottom wing reflection! That's quality workmanship.
She polished it nice! Documented technique in an earlier vid!
Very nice! I also took a co-worker flying last week. Happy to see similar first happy/nervous reactions when they take control.
Beautiful airplane! I like your flying technique too - I'd feel comfortable flying with you (every pilot wants to hear that) - but I don't say that about everybody! Good on you for having a CO detector 👍!!
You might enjoy a flight over to 1RL...lovely, long, well maintained grass strip at Point Roberts. Great food within walking distance too. I bet Woodstock would enjoy the trip too! Thanks for the cool videos. Bon vols! John
Great video ! Thanks for taking us along with you .
love that little plane. Thanks for the ride along.
Just a great "love of flying" video. Thanks for sharing!
Good to see you back on RUclips.
* CO2 emissions if you had a small window hole, you could use some cardboard to direct outside air into the cockpit.
* Any change to the undercarriage: tundra tyres and post into frame of aircraft?
* are you needing the extension piece for the control stick?
Anyways.............😉🇺🇲
Slick little plane. Living the dream!
You are such a rockstar Amy!!
Very cool to see you fly and are well.
Great flight, beautiful shots.
Love your (very sensible) TD setup on this Star with the T3 tw.
Watching re-runs wondering when the next new one is coming out...I'm from NC also and started following when you made the literal cross country. I am impressed with your accomplishments at such a young age...I kick myself everyday for not finishing my ppl when I was younger.
Nicely done ✔
Kind of a fine irony that "Woodstock" is an all metal & glass bird... sure is pretty though!
That is one of the nicest looking taildraggers!
Nice video and flight! Fly safe and enjoy!
You are such a beautyfull Person, i love your Videos
Beautiful aircraft! The Cessna 150 was also very nice. Good luck to you in aviation and your Coast Guard career.
Great Video Miss Amy:-)
I enjoyed the view from the air especially seeing the USCG air station at the end of Ediz Hook
Many memories from the 70’s
I had a coworker at the air station that had a 150 and we would fly around the area
Sure miss Port Angeles and the Forks areas
Really glad to see another Woodstock video. Are we going to get a video of the Bush Wheel install?
I wasn’t able to video any of that unfortunately. Work got in the way!
A lovely yellow airmarine. :D
I love that registration got to admit.
I love the name, "Woodstock." It's perfect for a little yellow bird. :-)
Woodstock is the name of Snoopy's yellow bird friend, hence its a great name for Amy's plane 😁
Great video, i love it 👍
Magical Day to fly.
Such a pretty airplane
really good looking plane.
Very Nice
Love your vids Amy! 👍
Cool chick, that flys and owns her own plane. Right on 👍👍👍. Check out another early day flight female pioneer Cornelia Fort.
Yup, would be interested in what the culprit was for the CO reading. I would like to see zero as well. John from MI
Possibly a few places. I plugged up all up all the air leaks to be sure! I’ve heard of a backdraft happening through the empennage, so I sealed up the baggage bulkhead. I think that was the biggest help. Other than that, I sealed around the landing gear and wing roots, plus taped over the belly drain holes.
@@amywhite375 and you thought you had a false reading that made you land at Mountain Home. Not Safe.
welcome back
Love to see woodstock fly
You should get some graphics in black that go down the side that says "Woodstock" 😁
Speaking of fouled plus, if you put p-mags on you'll never have fouled plugs again. The spark plug gap is double what standard mags run.
That comment about spark plugs fowling.......cya when you get back ! 😂
Wow lucky guy. Wish I was your coworker. I haven't been in a plane ride in over 20 years. I dream of having my pilot license and small plane on floats. Wonder how much it would cost me??
Go out to your local airport, show them your dedication, and make a few friends. I’m sure you’ll get a ride.
Fun one, Amy. Was that a R44? Love those. Also, what bank did you torture your coworker with? 60? Loved his reaction "that's as drunk as I've felt in a long time". Too funny. Glad to have you back, Amy.
It was an R66 actually! And yeah, that was about 60 degrees/ 2G.
@@amywhite375 first R66 I've seen! Thanks!
On the CO issue, on my Sportsman, if I have the vents closed and heat off, I'll get some CO. Vents open just the slightest or heat just cracked, I get zero CO.
Luckily, after sealing up the baggage bulkhead, around the landing gear strut, and putting clear tape over the fuselage drain holes, the CO is 100% gone. While it was coming in, I too, noticed it get better with a little heater on, but the vents made it worse. (probably cause a weird air flow/pressure for it to pull in from somewhere else.)
Once Mike gets his gold wings, he will have the US Gov. paying for his pilot's seat for a long time.;-)
those electronic CO detectors are far better than the card type... The card with the dot type I joke are for the crash investigators, not the pilots.
So, what is the problem with your uAvionix displays? Would like to hear about the problem you are experiencing and if you’ve resolved the problem with the displays or uAvionix support.
Calibration seems off all around. Altitude seems about 80ft off, airspeed too reads 5-10kts different than my steam gauge, and most importantly, the DG will not hold a heading at all.
@@amywhite375 I hope you are able to get things sorted out in short order. Once you get it back up and performing as designed, I'd love to hear you thoughts on compared to the old steam gauge it replaces.
Dialogue@6:00.. "let me know if you hear any loud noises.." 🤯...🤣lol
Your airplane looks great, I heard you saying you were having instrument problems?
Yeah, my AV-30’s have been problematic.
@@amywhite375 did you have them installed or someone else? Frustrating when your modern equipment and $$$ stuff doesn’t work as expected
Thanks for posting this! Where were the CO leaks coming in from?
Possibly a few places. I plugged them all up to be sure! I’ve heard of a backdraft happening through the empennage, so I sealed up the baggage bulkhead. I think that was the biggest help.
@@amywhite375 keep an eye on it!
Now all it needs is some Alaska bush wheels.
Love the outside camera placement creating epic shots, Noticed a 210 in the water below, which one is it?
That's the ACTIVE (WMEC-618)
Sorry to butt in, I was an HS2/1 on the Vigorous in Cape May.
Would you be able to fly over my parents house on SeaView Dr in Port Townsend?
Amy, what is the product you use to polish your wings ?
I've been using NuVite
Come pick me up at KFFZ - I'd love to go flying with you.
Hi Amy, can I ask you what one might expect to pay for a nice GlaStar like Woodstock, similarly equipped?
Great vids. Do you miss the 150?
Not too much to be honest. Sometimes I miss how easy the 150 is to land in a 20kt crosswind.
Can you please provide more info on the AV-30 issues? I've literally just ordered one 😲
Some units have a known problem for the heading drifting much worse than a normal vacuum DG. I happen to have one of those units. They are working on a solution-hopefully an interface to a magnetometer.
@@amywhite375 thanks for the reply, love the channel, keep up the great vids.
Amy , Bob here . Which editing program do you use ? I bought a go pro 9 and wanna produce awesome videos like yourself .Im a student pilot in MD. Thanks oh and by the way I really enjoy yer vids.
Hi Bob. I use iMovie and just started trying my hand at Final Cut Pro.
CO2 nothing to mess around with. You are smart to have a monitor better than some shitty dot that changes color. Find the issue early and deal with it is very smart.
Nice video. Love your airplane. So, AV-30's not up to snuff?? Just got mine and going to install this weekend. What's your issue with them? Semper Paratus.
They work great except for holding heading. I believe they are working on a magnetometer interface. It uses accelerometers, same as in the G5’s I think, which DOES require a magnetometer. So it’s no wonder why these drift so bad.
What happened to your Cessna 150?
She sold it to buy the Glastar not long ago.
"Nice landing"... indeed.
You ever think about turning Woodstock into a flying car?
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plane_Driven_PD-1
Is there a minimum aircraft registration letter size ?
See FAA Advisory Circular 45-2d. In general: 2" for Antique, 3" for Experimental, and 12" for Certified that are built or painted after 1981.
What engine are you running in Woodstock Amy.
Lycoming O-320-E2G 150HP
@@amywhite375 I suppose an IO-360 and a constant speed would be the first logical upgrade. Of course, money is NEVER a factor.😳
@@j.muckafignotti4226 It's only money!!
@@amywhite375 Every time I worked on my Murphy Super Rebel with the monster engine I had in it, it was $1000! ...at least!
So, what was the cause of the CO into the cockpit?
Possibly a few places. I plugged them all up to be sure! I’ve heard of a backdraft happening through the empennage, so I sealed up the baggage bulkhead. I think that was the biggest help.
@@amywhite375 Hmm..I never thought of that but makes perfect sense, I was thinking leaks IN around lower door/frame left side might allow exhaust in..vent/heat intakes being opened would possibly "pressurize" the cabin very slightly, eliminating the leak "in"🤔
Hi Amy, what brand / model CO detector is it you're using?
TOCSIN by OTIS. Can get it from Sporty's.
Did you sell your 150.
Yep.
What kind of airplane is that
GlaStar!
I was thinking of putting in 2 AV-30's. Would you still recommend them?
Not from my experience, but "your mileage may vary."
Do you know a Naomi Finney?
I don't think so.
Q: Mixture of what? A: Martinis to monkeys! In order to maintain engine health, you must have your martini to monkey ratio correct at all times.
Take me flying pretty lady? 😷
Do a barrel roll.
What kind of aircraft is it..? (manufacturer)
This is a GlaStar.
It's great taking folks flying, I had a little contest to offer a ride in my RV6, think she had fun!
ruclips.net/video/QOa-sc-2H1o/видео.html
I was thinking of putting an AV 30 and possibly an AV20 in my RV, what kind of grief are you having with yours?
Awesome! I've had issues with heading drift which are steadily being corrected, and now have the external magnetometer for it--but my biggest grief is that sometimes the attitude indicator gets "confused" and shows a 10-20° bank that isn't there. I still remember taxiing in one day after a crosswind landing with it showing a 20° bank. It never righted. Typically though, I see just random banks indicated while in cruise. Not something I want to trust IFR!!!
@@amywhite375 yikes... ya, having trust issues with your instruments is not good, I will do some research on the AV30 for sure! the external Magnetometer was an add on?
Plug and play?
Thanks :)
CO should show zero. There is no good level for CO.
It does now!
@@amywhite375 Was there an exhaust problem?
@@donjohnston3776 Nope; just air leakage around the cockpit.
So for sure this dude should offer up the D after that. Gas is not cheap and neither are 100 hour inspections.
How about no.
@@amywhite375 I hope you don’t let the childish comments from immature boys deter you from posting beautiful flights. Awesome plane Amy!
Are you sure he's a good candidate for flight school? He doesn't seem to have a clue, surely if you want to be a pilot wouldn't you at least know the basics? 🤔🙄
No habits = no bad habits...
They will teach him everything he needs to know and train him to become one the most elite pilots in the world. The Coast Guard--they have to go out when everyone else is coming in. He's also very smart and will have no trouble.
1) As far as that detector and the readings you are getting, did you ever consider just reading the instructions? You really should as the answers are there.
2) Why do the FAA records show that someone else owned the C150, and also, that you do not own this aircraft either?
3) Thanks for showing me not to believe anything I see on you tube. I really needed that.
4) Best wishers with whatever this really is.
I don’t know what your problem is.
I owned the 150 with an LLC for liability protection. “A&M” flight adventures stood for Amy and Mom...
I currently own the GlaStar with an A&P partner and we registered it in Montana until I move next year and buy out his half. If you paid attention you see it says co-owned. Also, you can bug off and then bug off farther please.
@@amywhite375- Well. You did reply at 1:40 that the owner...when the guy asked about the plane name. So, you opened the door.
I meant “the original owner” or the builder.
