  • So I'm undertaking a massive new project. ‪@sweetwater‬ has sponsored me trying to learn how to shred on guitar, so I asked my bud ‪@DovydasMusic‬ to come share some of his secrets with me. If you want to be cool, check out the Fishman Fluence pickups on the Strandberg Boden NX7 Prog we're both rocking out with this affiliate link:

    A little about me:
Sean Daniel is a man. A man of simple needs and desires. And the one desire, no, the one NEED, that stands above all is to spread the challenges, joy and intellectual stimulus of music to people of Earth and beyond.
Born on the mean streets of upper middle class suburban Chicago, Sean learned the ways of the world through the dizzying heights of success to the lonesome depths of failure and emerged with the promise of a better tomorrow reflecting in his eyes and fiery passion in his belly.
He plays and teaches guitar on his RUclips channel where he regularly releases original music and projects to the adulation of legions of fans, who often compare him to Chris Pratt and one time Ryan Reynolds. He’s currently in the market for a nice leather jacket.

I could listen to the clean shredding Dovy did all day, the high gain stuff maybe a 1 minute solo. Glad he pointed out that clean tone allows you to hear all your mistakes. Seems like unless you are performing, playing clean is more useful, even if not more fun. Thanks for posting

Dude I love this. You’ve been my favorite Internet guitar teacher for a while now. I’ve been playing for nearly 2 years now and a lot of your videos just help me see certain aspects of guitar in a new way. And now it’s really cool to see where you haven’t explored certain areas of guitar. Like it’s easy to see someone who is great at guitar and think that they have all the tools and know all the ins and outs of the instrument, but in reality everyone has something new to learn. I don’t have enough interest in shredding yet to really dedicate myself yet, still getting through the beginner to intermediate stages. But I’m hoping to learn as many styles as I possibly can when I get the hang of playing in time and in rhythm

Who wants to shred economically when you can fly across the fretboard in first class?! Cheers Sean and Dovydas!!

Might give this a shot as well. Shreding never been an interest of mine, but I guess it's a good way to spice it up in 2022.

This is random, but when watching Sean practice to a metronome I realized that the only way I ever practice scale fragments to a metronome is by playing them in triplets whereas Sean speeds up the BPM and plays a note per beat. I should probably start mixing that in as well in practice to change up the patterns I play. Nice vid Sean!

Thanks, Sean (and Dovydas!) I am somewhat relieved by the suggestion that this can be practiced on clean setting.

I've been avoiding it for too long. I'm going to try having my tuner pedal on all the time when doing these practice runs and get the fret board mapped.

Dude, get one of those metronome watches, they really help. Your doing good ! You don't need luck, you need dedicated time on the fret board. Consistency, and hard work. We, your viewers, absolutely need you to succeed.
