- There's a secret way of unlocking the bucking bronco at the fairgrounds without any cheats. All you essentially need to do is glitch the door after those 2 pretentious nerds are done with their heads and tails game.
This was done in 1999 mode. Also known as ez mode for me.

I always thought it was weird how in Rapture, the plasmids actually served practical purposes before they were weapons. Here in Columbia, save for Shock Jockey, all of the vigors seem designed just to fuck people up. Like what purpose would one have for throwing stuff up in the air in suspended animation for like 5 seconds?

Exactly, all the vigors from a design stand point just seem to exist for the sole purpose of killing people. I mean even possession makes the possessed commit suicide after its finished.
Well firstly I think you have to understand the fundamental differences between rapture society and Columbia society.
Rapture was founded on the principals of the free market and extreme individualism, along side a form of anarchic capitalism. Basically meaning that you could sell whatever you wanted in Rapture without regulation. Therefor salesmen, such as Fontaine, could sell these super natural abilities without being restricted. The super natural powers in rapture had to be practical and appealing to the customer however, as why would anyone buy them otherwise? The powers were designed around the kind of society they existed in.
Columbia was founded on the principals of religious fundamentalism, nationalism and militarism. Therefor, the supernatural powers that existed here were primarily intended for Columbia's military to use, hence why the only vigor users you see in the game are the zealot and fireman, both being military personal of some form. This also explains why, as you pointed out, vigors are so lethal, and are more offensive weapons, than useful household tools like in Rapture. The military needs weapons, simple as that. Ken Levine has explained in the past, that vigors had not long been available for public purchase by the time Booker gets to Columbia, and so that's why not many people have them. Plus, columbians are devout followers of the founding fathers right? Well these are the same founding fathers who stated that each citizen has the right to bare arms, under the second amendment of the US constitution. Therefor they have the choice to buy a supernatural power, instead of a gun. The point im trying to make here, is Columbia is a society that needs and wants weapons, and vigors served that purpose quite handily.
I get what your saying though. The answer to this question is not exactly clear. But I think if you look at both society's in Bioshock, and what they each stand for, you begin to see that actually, the powers do fit each one rather well.
Bucking bronco jingle from Burial At Sea DLC seem to indicate that bucking bronco was meant for sort of home made carnival ride, and how it would be useful at home, like for flipping pancakes, lifting someone up to change light bulb, or just lifting furniture to get what's under them

Kinda lame that you have to glitch the game out to acquire BB earlier. Was kinda hoping that they would have added a legitimate way to buy it at the fair as a sort of easter egg/secret sort of thing.

7 years later this get recommend to me. .... That's not a complaint as such but I would have liked to know this sooner.
I highly recommend that you do not do this as later into the game where bucking bronco is actually introduced the game crashes automatically so it's recommended that you just be patient for it.
Another note is that the playstation version will freeze the gate area with a psychical wall rendering the glitch unless
As for the xbox one and 360 versions as of 2018 they can be performed but like I said all 3 versions crash the game as soon as a bottle of bucking bronco is found so I highly recommend that you do not use this glitch that is all

Can't you just avoid drinking the bucking bronco? It's doesn't actually force you to drink it, it's just sitting there in a box.. unless the game crashes right when it loads the map?
You can trade the bucking bronco for the devils kiss if you fall into the theater

i personally tired getting bucking bronco on xbox 360 early in the fair grounds i could not leave the fair grounds no matter how hard i tried so i agree its not a good idea to try!

It is funny , but this will cause the game to crash when you get to the part where you actually find the bucking bronco plasmid bottle, so you better not do it XD

Depends for me I just got the animation when i got there
I tried it today, did everything and made about 1000 dollars extra with a painfully long journey playing the carneval games again and again. BUT! When you get the Bronco and continue to Soldier's Field, where Elizabeth opens the tear and the elevator goes up and Booker says: "It sure looks like a shortcut getting us killed", walking down the stairs causes a randon appearance of the vigor cutscene and the Vigor training video and nothing else happened. Game works perfect, it was fun to experience! Try it out lads! :D

What find annoying about this that I have to constantly re-watch the possession animation every time I reload a checkpoint to try this again...
Good timing, I always get stuck in between door with wall, but jump out. Testing out now because I really want bronco for my 1999 run for motivation 😅😂

This works on the rereleased version for the PS4.
If you get stuck on the door between coin landing and coin settling from landing, you can jump out again, because the doors are not uniform from top to bottom, they are barred from middle and up, jump up and keep middle angle and you have some extra millimetres to work with. If there is a way to jump at least 4-5 times standard length, you could possibly bypass whole levels??! (As I see from my out if bounds discovery, just make sure to map invisible walls, but they are easily spottable in 90-degree angles showing up as lines..
Coordinates are not needed, but they would have been better. I want all to understand, but I reckon it's all understood. Next run now.... 🤞🏻

press 5 to choose buckibg bronco
if you equip Possession, it doesn't
+Lord Potato if you are on PC, you can press 5 to equip bucking bronco, 1 and 2 to equip possesion and devil kiss.

So, I did what you said, and I broke the game. I jumped ahead to where you meet the fireman by glitching through a building. So yeah, broke the freaking game. And when I try to reload to last checkpoint, I end up where its too late to fix it. So yeah......

I still don't understand how can you take a vigor like Bucking Bronco use it at a carnival game and then lose it after you're done, just to get it again when you're going to the Halls of Heros.
I guess they just wanted to focus on devils kiss and the other vigors before giving you bucking bronco.
You can break the game massively with stuff being unload the barriers don't work... and you can fall completely out of the map and into the void

Funny how glutchy this game is I broke the walls and spawned halfway through the game and the only way to get a weapon was to get a hook kill and pistol gone forever:-( but I went back to the inn and got the shield

Shouldn't it be the same thing? Just hold your left analog stick down and to the right when you're talking to them. Then the door should stay open and you'll be able to walk in and out of the fairgrounds.

+phantomshadow224 This was done on the PC version and PC versions usually get priority for patches, but this has not been patched. So, I'm 99% sure it's possible to do on the PS3 version. Good luck.

Oh, you're right. I just now realized that I made this mistake. The instructions are supposed to be hold S and D but for some reason I put A and D, d'oh!
