    II agree with the reviewer. It's nice that Kansas is still a quality outfit, regardless of how many members of the classic line-up are still in the band. Rather than detracting from their history, the current members are adding to the Kansas legacy by issuing good studio and live albums over the past couple of years. Rock on.

    Just saw them last night here in Montgomery Alabama. So awesome. Didn’t disappoint at all. Sounded just like the albums. I’ve seen them many times through the years and they never sounded better.

    Good to know, Pete. Love to go out and acquire that especially knowing the live version of the riveting, menacing
    “ Magnum Opus “ ( my #1 song ) is on it. Kansas was the 1st band I ever saw live, but they didn’t play Magnum.

    I enjoyed it!!!…. carrying on in whatever form but the original band was absolutely one of the most incredible bands of any band to ever dawn this planet!!!! You may think I’m just being playful with this greatest band to ever play together but I jest you not!!! Truly one of the most unappreciated most impressive bands ever. You can go on and talk about any Frikin progressive or whatever you wanna call them bands I don’t care who the hell it is this band put out some of the most powerful unique Music and lyrics all unto themselves!!!! In the original band short period they were as prolific and powerful and the music bands eternal - truly one of the greatest bands ever!!!! Again I am not joking. Tell me a band that can do with that band does, live or in studio right as well!!!….. truly are bloody freaking incredible! That is why they are truly the most underappreciated band I think that ever could be called a rock band or any other type band you want to call them!!! Kerry Livgren, Robbie Reinhart, Steve Walsh, Phil Earhart, Rich Williams and Dave Hope Will always stand the test of time!!! You have to be a bloody moron to not hear and listen to share greatness!!! I have filed rock ‘n’ roll all my life and listen to every range in that music and I had to realize if I took everything into perspective the original band Kansas, and regardless of the worthless rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame, truly could be the greatest band that ever teamed together and make music - superb timeless music!!!

    Fantastic review!! Agree with everything you said. Saw them a month ago & they have reinvented the the spirit of Kansas in me.This record is superb!! Prelude Implicit was brilliance as well. And don't neglect the genius of the mix in Jeff Glixman. He has been masterful for the bands sound forever.
    Give the auto tune thing a rest & simply enjoy the refresh of one of Rocks Greatest bands!!

    Peter, do you think that Ronnie's vocals on this album are auto-tuned? I've heard that from a couple of reviewers. Also, I heard that Kansas is in fact planning a 40th anniversary tour for Point Of Know Return.

      His voice has clearly been synthesized and that sucks!

    "Cayenne Anthem"? It's not about pepper. :-)
    No comment on the auto-tune, huh?

      LOL! I guess I did say that...oops! As for the auto-tune debate, I'm not so sure. I wouldn't say Ronnie's vocals are perfect here throughout (there are some warts on some songs) but overall he does a great job singing so many of these songs that the band haven't performed live in ages. If some of it was touched up, that's what every band does, so not out of the question.

      In my humble opinion there is too much autotune on and the vocals are not loud enough in most of the songs

    • @swinedog712
      @swinedog712 3 года назад

      If there was any fiddling with the vocals using auto tune in post production, it must’ve been pretty minor. I’ve seen Ronnie Platt enough times live to know that he always brings it, and sounds awesome.

  • @Hyvelez
    @Hyvelez 4 года назад +2

    The only thing that makes this disqualifying it as a good live album is the autotune...

  • @crusheverything4449

    Ronnie Platt hits most of the notes, but he has no balls, no blues and no soul in his singing. As a fan for over 43 years, I’d take Walsh at 30% over Karaoke Boy. Steve is a rocker! Platt would be better suited to an Air Supply tribute act.

      JIF882 - I may have a different opinion than you, but it isn’t “wrong”. That’s the thing about opinions. Here’s a stone cold FACT for you: Steve Walsh never held a microphone like a cock.

      @mr7354 6 лет назад +2

      your right, Steve Walsh is one of a kind and his absence leaves a big hole in the band.

      You really can't say that about Kansas....Rags(violin) and Greer(bass) have been with them longer than the original guy's and Manion(keys)has been part of the Kansas family for a long time....they have the blessings of ALL the ex members....Kerry and Robby still sit in on shows with them to this day.....unlike other bands where the original members went out on a bad note....you can't say that about this band....totally different situation

    • @stefansundberg3166

      @@MegaDRUMBASHER But you can´t judge a line-up by how LONG replacement members have been around, can you. It is the guys who were around when a band hade their creative peak that matters, and that is, in the case of Kansas, the 70´s with Walsh, Livgren, Steinhard, Hope, Ehart and Williams. Ragsdale and Greer; well yes they have been in the band for a long time but has Kansas done anything on par with their 70´s output during those 25-30 years of them being in Kansas? Of course not. That´s why this is a travesty of Kansas, a tribute act trying to sound like they did in the 70´s. Mere copycats of their own classic sound made up by almost totally different players. Ehart and Williams (the sole remaining original members) were hardly integral parts of the bands original sound. Walsh, Livgren and Steinhardt made Kansas sound Kansas.

      Stefan Sundberg Nonsense. The music industry is so very different than in the 70s.
      That’s the main reason why you can’t compare it to nowadays
